Book The Gardener s Scrolls Book of Scions

Download or read book The Gardener s Scrolls Book of Scions written by Samuel R. Rodriguez Jr. and published by Dorrance Publishing. This book was released on 2023-12-05 with total page 366 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: About the Book In the provinces of Terra Y’cromeca, an ancient battle over husbandry of the land interlocks two primordial gardens. Dark abysmal waters in the cold of the north, house a blasphemous garden. From this garden springs forth an arcane power to dark forces, thus paving the way for a cruel regime to rule over the Y’cromahein people. Isolated from these powers in a desert world far away in the West, a simple and rustic folk follow the wisdom of a kindly Gardener, the guardian of Terra Y’cromeca. But what need is there to guard against? While the turmoil of slavery and war plague the Y’cromahein in the north, the Gardener’s age-old nemesis lurks and schemes, plotting to fulfill his oath of vengeance upon the land. In this age, where ancient forces burst to new life, the numinous seeds of the Garden of Ages are pitted against the corrupt weeds of the Dark Garden. Ripples of chaos from upheaval in the north wreck devastation and ruin across Terra Y’cromeca. In their wake, destiny finds unlikely heroes in a young shepherd, a grieving father, a self-serving Tribune, and a young girl of mysterious lineage. Guided by the Gardener’s wisdom and supported by the warriors of the desert, they will strive to form one last defense against great darkness. About the Author Samuel R. Rodriguez Jr. was forged under a scorching sun, in the rugged desert of West Texas in 1968. He grew up with a love for cinema, ghost stories, and a deep passion for history and various cultures. The more distant a culture may be from his roots, the more curious he was to learn about them and embrace them. His love for all things mysterious led him on a life-long journey into the worlds of cryptozoology, Kabbalah, and Eastern philosophy. In 1977, his life changed with the cinematic release of Star Wars: A New Hope, thus the excitement of wanting to create his own fantasy story was birthed from that inspiration so long ago. Since then, the story of Y’cromeca has morphed, changed, and shape-shifted into the story that you read today. This book was crafted decades in the making.

Book Low Impact Forestry Forestry as If the Future Mattered

Download or read book Low Impact Forestry Forestry as If the Future Mattered written by Mitch Lansky and published by Maine Evironmental Policy Inst. This book was released on 2002 with total page 182 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Sustainable forestry is right where organic gardening was a generation ago--at the very beginning of working out the techniques and technologies that will let logging thrive at a scale appropriate to both the human and natural communities that depend on the forest. This book is at--if you will pardon the expression--the absolute cutting edge of that process." Bill McKibben, author ofThe End of Nature, Hope, Human and Wild, Enough, and other books If the future really mattered . . . How would forests be managed to improve, rather than degrade, future timber values? How would trees be cut to minimize damage to the residual forest? How would foresters measure success towards minimizing damage? How would loggers be paid to lower logging impacts? How would forests be managed in a way that ensures the survival of all native species? How would woodlot owners be able to afford this type of management? Low-Impact Forestry: Forestry as if the Future Matteredanswers these questions and more. Using Maine as a case study, this book offers forestry goals and guidelines that emphasize quality and value while conserving biodiversity and supporting communities for the long term.

Book Good Husbandry

Download or read book Good Husbandry written by Kristin Kimball and published by Scribner. This book was released on 2019-10-15 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the celebrated author of the beloved bestseller The Dirty Life, a “beguiling memoir about the simple life” (Elle), Kristin Kimball describes the delicious highs and sometimes excruciating lows of life on Essex Farm—a 500-acre farm that produces a full diet for a community of 250 people. The Dirty Life chronicled Kimball’s move from New York City to 500 acres near Lake Champlain where she started a new farm with her partner, Mark. In Good Husbandry, she reveals what happened over the next five years at Essex Farm. Farming has many ups and downs, and the middle years were hard for the Kimballs. Mark got injured, the weather turned against them, and the farm faced financial pressures. Meanwhile, they had two small children to care for. How does one traverse the terrain of a maturing marriage and the transition from being a couple to being a family? How will the farm survive? What does a family need in order to be happy? Kristin had chosen Mark and farm life after having a good look around the world, with a fair understanding of what her choices meant. She knew she had traded the possibility of a steady paycheck, of wide open weekends and spontaneous vacations, for a life and work that was challenging but beautiful and fulfilling. So with grit and grace and a good sense of humor, she chose to dig in deeper. Featuring some of the same local characters and cherished animals first introduced in The Dirty Life, (Jet the farm dog, Delia the dairy cow, and those hardworking draft horses), plus a colorful cast of aspiring first-generation farmers who work at Essex Farm to acquire the skills they need to start sustainable farms of their own, Good Husbandry is about animals and plants, farmers and food, friends and neighbors, love and marriage, births and deaths, growth and abundance.
