Before knowing Christ, he lived a life filled with drugs, alcohol abuse, violence, and incarceration. After the heartbreak of divorce, John hitchhiked throughout the United States and Canada in the late 1970s to try to heal and find himself. Instead, the Lord found him - pulling him from the miry clay, as the song says. He has been a Christian for three decades. He has two grown children who follow Jesus and three grandchildren. This is his first novel, and he says, "If it reaches even one lost soul with the Good News, it will be worth the effort."
Download or read book Hitler Came for Niemoeller written by Stein, Leo and published by Pelican Publishing. This book was released on 2003-03-31 with total page 340 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "To say that this is a good book is to say nothing. To advise one to read it for entertainment is sacrilege. To urge its reading for information, or even for inspiration, is to reveal a lack of insight. This book is a revelation of hell on earth, of the existence of a malignant wickedness and evil in this world. If any man can read it and not be stirred to his depths, it is because he has no depths." --Norman Vincent Peale, from the foreword First published in 1942, Leo Stein's account of the imprisonment of Lutheran pastor Martin Niemoeller recounts face-to-face discussions with Hitler. Martin Niemoeller was ordained as a Lutheran pastor in 1924. He was a hero during World War I, a German naval lieutenant and U-boat commander. He was also one of the earliest and most vocal critics of Nazism. As the Third Reich moved toward the obliteration of the Christian Church, Niemoeller, along with other pastors, formed the Pastor's Emergency League to protect the church and its ministers from imprisonment and destruction. Pastor Niemoeller's was one of the early, stentorian calls for overseas aid, with a major manifesto appearing in an issue of Time magazine just prior to the 1936 Berlin Olympics. Niemoeller was protected until 1937, when he was found guilty of treason. He was sent for "re-education" and spent the remainder of World War II at Sachsenhausen, Mobait, and Dachau. He lived a life of distinction, serving as president of the World Council of Churches and actively speaking out against nuclear armament and military alliances until his death at age ninety-two in 1984. Leo Stein served as a doctor of jurisprudence and church law and was teaching at the University of Berlin when he was arrested and summarily imprisoned for crimes of treason, his book on the Russian Revolution held as the sole "evidence" against him. This book was written following his emigration to the United States.

Discover for yourself how easily history could have been changed by simple decisions that were not made. The Lion is Humbled is the first of a series of books by Robert Blumetti's series: The Thousand Year Reich. You can now learn for yourself of the alternative future that might have been.
Download or read book American Fuehrer written by Frederick James Simonelli and published by University of Illinois Press. This book was released on 1999 with total page 246 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The founder of the American Nazi party and its leader until he was murdered in 1967,George Lincoln Rockwell was one of the most significant extremist strategists and ideologists of the postwar period. His influence has only increased since his death. A powerful catalyst and innovator, Rockwell broadened his constituency beyond the core Radical Right by articulating White Power politics in terms that were subsequently appropriated by the one-time klansman David Duke. He played a major role in developing Holocaust revisionism, now an orthodoxy of the Far Right. He also helped politicize Christian Identity, America's most influential right-wing religious movement, and welded together an international organization of neo-Nazis. All of these extremist movements continue to thrive today. Frederick Simonelli's biography of this powerful and enigmatic figure draws on primary sources of extraordinary depth, including declassified FBI files and manuscripts and other materials held by Rockwell's family and associates. The first objective assessment of the American Nazi party and an authoritative study of the roots of neo-nazism, neo-fascism, and White Power extremism in postwar America, American Fuehrer is shocking and absorbing reading.

Download or read book God s Gift to You written by Ithurburn Fred Ithurburn and published by Trafford Publishing. This book was released on 2009-12 with total page 219 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Roman Catholic Church's Eucharist should be open to anyone, regardless of whether or not that person has been baptized, is sinful or follows another religion. That's because Jesus Christ invites everyone to his banquet. But not all people feel the same as Fred Bert Ithurburn, a layperson who has written more than 200 letters to Pope Benedict XVI. He's still waiting for a response, but he isn't giving up on spreading the message of acceptance first brought to the world by Jesus. Just think how different the world would be if the early church fathers understood and applied the New Covenant properly, assuring a continued Gift of Eucharist to everyone. Jews might have accepted the more inclusive religion as a continuation of their own, and Mohammed might have felt welcome at a table where he was equally loved. The Greek and Roman Catholics would find no dispute, and no crusade would have sacked Constantinople. And that would have just been the beginning. In this sequel to God's Gift to You, you'll read some of the author's letters to the pope and decide for yourself the true meaning of the Eucharist.

Download or read book Bonhoeffer written by Eric Metaxas and published by Thomas Nelson. This book was released on 2011-08-29 with total page 655 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Who better to face the greatest evil of the 20th century than a humble man of faith? As Adolf Hitler and the Nazis seduced a nation, bullied a continent, and attempted to exterminate the Jews of Europe, a small number of dissidents and saboteurs worked to dismantle the Third Reich from the inside. One of these was Dietrich Bonhoeffer, a pastor and author. In this New York Times bestselling biography, Eric Metaxas takes both strands of Bonhoeffer's life--the theologian and the spy--and draws them together to tell a searing story of incredible moral courage in the face of monstrous evil. In Bonhoeffer, Metaxas presents the fullest account of Bonhoeffer's life, including his: heart-wrenching decision to leave the safe haven of America to return to Hitler's Germany involvement in the famous Valkyrie plot and in "Operation 7," the effort to smuggle Jews into neutral Switzerland lifelong dedication to sharing the tenets of his faith This edition, revised and with a new introduction from the author, shares the deeply moving story through previously unavailable documents, including personal letters, detailed journal entries, and firsthand personal accounts to reveal never-before-seen dimensions of Bonhoeffer's life and work. Praise for Bonhoeffer: "Metaxas has created a biography of uncommon power--intelligent, moving, well researched, vividly written, and rich in implication for our own lives. Or to put it another way: Buy this book. Read it. Then buy another copy and give it to a person you love. It's that good." --Archbishop Charles Chaput, author, First Things "Metaxas tells Bonhoeffer's story with passion and theological sophistication." —Wall Street Journal "Metaxas presents Bonhoeffer as a clear-headed, deeply convicted Christian who submitted to no one and nothing except God and his Word." --Christianity Today "Metaxas has written a book that adds a new dimension to World War II, a new understanding of how evil can seize the soul of a nation and a man of faith can confront it." --Thomas Fleming, author, The New Dealers’ War

Download or read book The Truth About Rudolf Hess written by Lord James Douglas-Hamilton and published by Random House. This book was released on 2012-12-21 with total page 348 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rudolf Hess's flight to Britain in May 1941 stands out as one of the most intriguing and bizarre episodes of the Second World War. In The Truth About Rudolf Hess, Lord James Douglas-Hamilton explodes many of the myths which still surround the affair. He traces the developments which persuaded Hess to undertake his flight without Hitler's knowledge and show why he chose to approach the Duke of Hamilton. In the process he throws new light on the importance of Albrecht Haushofer, one-time envoy to Hitler and Ribbentrop and personal advisor to Hess, who was eventually executed by the S.S. for his involvement in the German Resistance movement. Drawing on British War Cabinet papers and the author's unparalleled access to the Hamilton archives and the Haushofer letters, The Truth About Rudolf Hess takes the reader to the heart of the Third Reich, combining adventure and intrigue with a scholarly historical approach. This remarkable book is illustrated throughout with superb photographs, placing the fascinating story in true historical perspective.
