We consider Gaussian random matrix models in the presence of a deterministic matrix source. In such models the correlation functions are known exactly for an arbitrary source and for any size of the matrices. The freedom given by the external source allows for various tunings to different classes of universality. The main interest is to use this freedom to compute various topological invariants for surfaces such as the intersection numbers for curves drawn on a surface of given genus with marked points, Euler characteristics, and the Gromov–Witten invariants. A remarkable duality for the average of characteristic polynomials is essential for obtaining such topological invariants. The analysis is extended to nonorientable surfaces and to surfaces with boundaries.

Die titelgebende Matrixinterpolation wird im Detail analysiert, und es werden die verschiedenen Schwierigkeiten des Verfahrens, als auch existierende Lösungen aus der Literatur, untersucht. Auf diesen aufbauend wird ein Verfahren zur Erweiterung von lokalen Unterräumen vorgeschlagen, während für die aus der Literatur bekannten Verfahren zur Stabilitätserhaltung mögliche Probleme aufgezeigt und neue theoretische Resultate gegeben werden. Es wird als Alternative ein neuartiges, flexibles Verfahren zur Stabilitätserhaltung vorgeschlagen, dessen potenzielle Vor- und Nachteile für zwei numerische Beispiele gezeigt werden. In this thesis the problem of stability preservation for parametric model order reduction by matrix interpolation is investigated. For this purpose the necessary mathematical fundamentals from system theory are given. Furthermore the two most popular model order reduction methods for linear systems are looked at and a brief introduction to various relevant methods for parametric model order reduction is given. The title giving matrix interpolation is analyzed in detail and its various problems, as well as solutions from literature, are studied. Based on these a procedure for the extension of local subspaces is given, whereas for the stability preservation methods known from literature possible problems are shown and new theoretical results are given. As an alternative a novel, flexible method for stability preservation is proposed and its potential pros and cons are shown for two numerical examples.

The study of these conjugate matrix equations is motivated by the investigations on stabilization and model reference tracking control for discrete-time antilinear systems, which are a particular kind of complex system with structure constraints. It proposes useful approaches to obtain iterative solutions or explicit solutions for several types of complex conjugate matrix equation. It observes that there are some significant differences between the real/complex matrix equations and the complex conjugate matrix equations. For example, the solvability of a real Sylvester matrix equation can be characterized by matrix similarity; however, the solvability of the con-Sylvester matrix equation in complex conjugate form is related to the concept of con-similarity. In addition, the new concept of conjugate product for complex polynomial matrices is also proposed in order to establish a unified approach for solving a type of complex matrix equation.
