Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Free Will Baptist, 1976, Vol. 91 Jesus heals according to His will and what is best for His children. Everybody who is lame, blind, or sick will not be healed; most will bear their suffering until they die. Some say, I prayed but God did not heal me, yet He healed another. What is wrong with God? Nothing is wrong with God, but much could be wrong with us. Jesus does not want to explain why He doesn't heal someone because when He does it means that our faith is void. He wants us to trust in Him whatever the outcome may be. If Jesus had to explain why He did not do such and such we would never learn to trust Him. Christians are unwise when they complain about any act of Jesus; it is much better to believe what He is doing is best for us. We should read Romans everyday and say Thank you, Lord; I do believe. When illness lingers and death comes, as it will to all if Jesus tarries, let us go to meet Him in faith. If healing comes and death is delayed, let us find much time to praise Him and be faithful in serving Him as an expression of our gratitude - The Bible Teacher (f. W. B.) Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Freewill Baptist Quarterly, Vol. 10: Truth and Progress If all thus join with their leader in the prayers which he of fers, let them with him assume some praying posture. Let all stand on their feet, or all kneel down, or, which is the least they can do, how their heads before the Lord. For the sake of uniformity, let some one of these postures be adopted as the rule of each congregation. Where no devotional posture is assumed except by the minister, he is often depressed with the apprehension that he is the only person praying, and to all appearance such is often the case. A whole congregation sit ting ia the ordinary manner during prayer, some gazing about the room at their neighbors' faces or clothes, and if the day is warm, swinging their fans rapidly to and fro, is not apt to im press one as being very devout and prayerful, or as listening closely, with intent to follow the minister in his earnest peti tions in behalf of the people. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Freewill Baptist Quarterly, 1868, Vol. 16 But the representative humanity of Jesus extends to the whole compass of our life, to its duties and joys, even to its saddest and darkest phases, its crushing and agonizing sorrows, and the tangled mystery of pain, disappointment, and bereavement. The Son of. Man was a sufferer by pre-emin'ence. He took our in firmities and bare our sicknesses. Though in the form of God, He emptied Himself of His glories, and became obedient unto death, preferring the most painful and ignomlmous death, even that of the cross, rather than commit the slightest infraction of the law of God. The Son of Adam did not pass by the cup of suffering, but in drinking its dregs on the slopes of Olivet and on the cross, bore away its curse and substituted a benediction, cast out its poison and changed it to most nutritious food. He suffered being tempted. His brief life was crowded with an guish. Sorrowful emotions rolled like tidal waves through His heart until they broke it. Grief forced Him to prayq, and gave impetus to His cries for help. His mind was wrenched with pain that no one knew save the Father, and no one save He or the Son can describe. Since then, such is the more than magical in uence of the Redeemer, suffering has been seen in a new light, and crosses have had a halo of glory that never shone about a monarch's crown.
