Download or read book Enhanced Planning Review of the Cleveland OH Metropolitan Area written by John A. Volpe National Transportation Systems Center (U.S.) and published by . This book was released on 1996 with total page 58 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The FTA and FHWA have initiated a series of joint Enhanced Planning Reviews (EPRs) to assess the impact of the Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act of 1991 (ISTEA) on the planning processes conducted by the transportation agencies serving metropolitan areas. The EPRs are also intended to determine the effects of planning on transportation investment processes. The EPR for Greater Cleveland Metropolitan Area included a federal site visit from August 7 through August 11, 1995. At the conclusion of the visit, the federal review team presented preliminary observations and recommendations for the local agencies taking part in the review. The team then formulated several additional observations as a result of the further review of documents and notes. This report is the summary conclusion and a complete set of the observations and recommendations.

Download or read book Airport Ground Access Mode Choice Models written by Geoffrey David Gosling and published by Transportation Research Board. This book was released on 2008 with total page 151 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This synthesis extends previous efforts to document the state of practice for airport ground access mode choice models. It examines the characteristics of existing models and discusses the issues involved in the development and use of such models to improve the understanding and acceptance of their role in airport planning and management. Information presented in this report may be of interest to a range of airport managers, airport and regional transportation planners, consultants and transportation modeling specialists, and researchers interested in issues involving airport ground access mode choice. For this synthesis, a comprehensive review of the relevant literature was undertaken. To document the extent of the recent use of airport ground access mode choice models and to identify sources of technical documentation on existing models, this literature review was supplemented by a survey of airport authorities, metropolitan planning organizations, consulting firms and research organizations, and other government agencies and industry organizations. Follow-up communications by telephone and e-mail were made where necessary.
Download or read book Integrated Urban Models for Simulation of Transit and Land Use Policies written by Eric J. Miller and published by Transportation Research Board. This book was released on 1999 with total page 44 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Describe how transit agencies, metropolitan planning organizations, and state DOTs can act today to initiate or expand their analytical tools for integrated land use-transportation planning. The Guidelines are intended for the general reader having an interest in the effects of transit on land use. The Guidelines describe currently available integrated models, the characteristics of an "ideal" integrated model, and steps that a planning organization should take in order to support and expand such modeling capability.

Download or read book Defense Transportation Algorithms Models and Applications for the 21st Century written by Robert T. Brigantic and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2004-07-22 with total page 392 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Defense Transportation: Algorithms, Models and Applications for the 21st Century contains papers divided into three general sections according to the title of this text: algorithms, models, and applications. The first section on algorithms contains papers that are theoretical in nature or contain new techniques that relate to Defense Transportation System (DTS) processes. A sampling of the papers contained in this section deals with group theoretic "tabu" search techniques, shortest path sailing distance algorithms, and strategic airlift model validation methods. The second section contains papers on various transportation models used throughout the DoD and transportation industry, as well as some newly developed transportation modelling methods that may eventually find their way into larger scale transportation models. A review of the major strategic mobility models is also contained in this section. The third section contains papers on various transportation applications that have been used to support various DTS studies and analyses. This section also contains a diverse set of topics, with articles ranging from a paper on North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) strategic lift requirements to an analysis paper on theater reception, staging, onward movement, and integration. - Preface by General John W. Handy, Commander, United States Transportation Command - Focus on land, sea, and air transportation models and methods - Manuscripts written by analysts and researchers active in the field and directly supporting the United States Defense Transportation System - Research methods were instrumental in defining the in-place DTS that so efficiently deployed forces for Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: After a decade-long shift in emphasis in regional transportation planning, steadily impacted by politics and planning commissions, environmental impact studies, and national, state and local legislation, the authors interpret and explain the meaning of the transportation planning process in the United States today. The book focuses on the interrelations between federal legislation, the judicial process and transportation planning, particularly in light of two important landmark federal acts - The Clean Air Act of 1990 and the Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act of 1991. The repercussions of these Acts have caused planners throughout the US to be much more circumspect about commitments they include in transportation plans and tr
