This is one of the issues Author Cynthia Powell addresses in her latest work "THE EMOTIONAL FIRE" and I quote "DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT have sex when you are not physically and mentally ready for this! 'KNOW YOUR WORTH!" She went on to say that casual sex in other words sex with a non-dating partner often leads to negative feelings about oneself, when compared to sex with a partner with whom the young person is in a dating relationship. In this stellar work Author Cynthia discusses how some behavior are associated with a much broader range of outcomes than physical consequences like sexually transmitted infections and pregnancy. For example, here are some of the sign and symptoms she gave when sexual intercourse with a non-dating partner is involved; lower self-esteem; lack of confidence; and no self-worth. She also emphasizes the importance of understanding the consequences of sexual behavior for it could affect the mental and social well- being of young people emerging into adulthood. This could damage what could be a beautiful experience. She stated that there are several ways that one can determine if they are ready to start having sexual intercourse. Once you decide that you are ready for sexual intercourse, you will need to discuss concerns and expectations with your partner and make a plan for protecting yourselves. By doing so it will help ensure that your first time will be safe and enjoyable. The main gist or message in this book however, has to do with dealing with sexual violence against young women and children. This evil that damages our young people many times unreported, and when its reported the crime is so heinous that the parents of the children choose not to believe it. The crime is often covered up for fear of exposing the only breadwinner in the family unit. Often times the act has damaged several other members of a family before coming to light. The author tells her gut wrenching story of being a victim of such a monstrous crime, and the resulting consequence that leads to her making difficult life choices. This book is one that every young person should obtain.

Book excerpt: Half a century after Hasidism blossomed in Eastern Europe, its members were making deep inroads into the institutional structure of Polish Jewish communities, but some devotees believed that the movement had drifted away from its revolutionary ideals. Menashe Unger’s A Fire Burns in Kotsk dramatizes this moment of division among Polish Hasidim in a historical account that reads like a novel, though the book was never billed as such. Originally published in Buenos Aires in 1949 and translated for the first time from Yiddish by Jonathan Boyarin, this volume captures an important period in the evolution of the Hasidic movement, and is itself a missing link to Hasidic oral traditions. A non-observant journalist who had grown up as the son of a prominent Hasidic rabbi, Unger incorporates stories that were told by his family into his historical account. A Fire Burns in Kotsk begins with a threat to the new, rebellious movement within Hasidism known as “the school of Pshiskhe,” led by the good-humored Reb Simkhe Bunim. When Bunim is succeeded by the fiery and forbidding Rebbe of Kotsk, Menachem Mendl Morgenstern, the new leader’s disdain for the vast majority of his followers will lead to a crisis in his court. Around this core narrative of reform and crisis in Hasidic leadership, Unger offers a rich account of the everyday Hasidic court life—filled with plenty of alcohol, stolen geese, and wives pleading with their husbands to come back home.
