Book Static and Dynamic Finite Element Analysis Using Parallel Programming

Download or read book Static and Dynamic Finite Element Analysis Using Parallel Programming written by Allan Mann and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2015-11-25 with total page 144 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Graphics Processing Units (GPU) were originally designed for downloading graphical display but with the improved capabilities of GPU, the use of GPU for General Purpose Programming (GPGPU) has been noticed. Due to the parallel architecture which allows the concurrency of the tasks, GPU can be used for solving large systems of equations. Implementation of the Finite Element Method on GPU architecture is quite straightforward because this method deals with linear equations or ordinary differential equations and when a problem has a large number of degrees of freedom, the use of GPU capabilities can significantly decrease the computation time. Two specific examples are the transient analysis and the static analysis which can reach higher performance using parallel programming.

Book The Finite Element Method in Heat Transfer and Fluid Dynamics Second Edition

Download or read book The Finite Element Method in Heat Transfer and Fluid Dynamics Second Edition written by J. N. Reddy and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2000-12-20 with total page 496 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The numerical simulation of fluid mechanics and heat transfer problems is now a standard part of engineering practice. The widespread availability of capable computing hardware has led to an increased demand for computer simulations of products and processes during their engineering design and manufacturing phases. The range of fluid mechanics and heat transfer applications of finite element analysis has become quite remarkable, with complex, realistic simulations being carried out on a routine basis. The award-winning first edition of The Finite Element Method in Heat Transfer and Fluid Dynamics brought this powerful methodology to those interested in applying it to the significant class of problems dealing with heat conduction, incompressible viscous flows, and convection heat transfer. The Second Edition of this bestselling text continues to provide the academic community and industry with up-to-date, authoritative information on the use of the finite element method in the study of fluid mechanics and heat transfer. Extensively revised and thoroughly updated, new and expanded material includes discussions on difficult boundary conditions, contact and bulk nodes, change of phase, weighted-integral statements and weak forms, chemically reactive systems, stabilized methods, free surface problems, and much more. The Finite Element Method in Heat Transfer and Fluid Dynamics offers students a pragmatic treatment that views numerical computation as a means to an end and does not dwell on theory or proof. Mastering its contents brings a firm understanding of the basic methodology, competence in using existing simulation software, and the ability to develop some simpler, special purpose computer codes.

Book Data Parallel Finite Element Techniques for Large scale Computational Fluid Dynamics

Download or read book Data Parallel Finite Element Techniques for Large scale Computational Fluid Dynamics written by Zdeněk Johan and published by . This book was released on 1992 with total page 194 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The second algorithm preserves data locality by partitioning the mesh using a parallel implementation of the spectral partitioning algorithm. The mesh decomposition leads to a reduction in the amount of data to be communicated between processing nodes. Fluid-structural heating interaction problems and compressible flow problems using meshes with close to one million elements, such as flow over a complete airplane, demonstrate the efficiency of the data parallel computing and communication strategies."

Book Parallel Finite Element Methods and Software for Partial Differential Equations

Download or read book Parallel Finite Element Methods and Software for Partial Differential Equations written by Omer Riaz and published by . This book was released on 2014 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this thesis a Finite Element solver package called FEDomain is developed for C++ finite element software developers. It is focused on solving the Finite Element problem on shared memory as well as distributed memory architectures. The FEDomain package segregates the finite element software into two phases. The first phase includes defining the finite element problem. The user selects the mathematical problem, domain shape, domain dimensions, triangulation of the domain and formulations to compute elements' data. The second phase comprises assembly of system of equations and computing its solution. The FEDomain package concentrates on the second phase. It facilitates the user by providing the efficient implementation of the second stage using parallel algorithms. This design allows the C++ finite element application developers, with no knowledge and experience of parallel computing, to implement parallel finite element application for shared and distributed memory architectures. More specifically, FEDomain package is focused on introducing a new type of user interface. The interface requires the user to provide the mathematical problem and domain related data in terms of C++ element objects. The FEDomain assembles the system of equations, computes its solution, and provides it back to the user through element objects. The FEDomain package computes the residual vector and solution for the system of equations on shared memory and distributed memory architectures.
