Book The Fine Art of Fishing

Download or read book The Fine Art of Fishing written by Samuel G. Camp and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2015-06-02 with total page 202 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Fine Art of Fishing The present volume is intended to supplement with notes on our common game fish and the practical use of the fly- and bait-casting rod in casting and in fishing the description of fly- and bait-casting tackle contained in the writer's previous book, "Fishing Kits and Equipment"; in other words, to discuss the methods of fly-fishing and bait-casting and other angling ways and means, as distinguished from the exclusive question of tackle. Every angler knows that good tackle is half the battle - and only half. Secondarily, it is hoped that the reproductions of the photographs may, at least, suggest the part which, with little difficulty and at no very great expense, the camera may be made to play in the angler's days on stream and lake. The greater part of the following text and photographs have appeared in OUTING, Recreation, and Country Life in America. The author's thanks are hereby tendered the publishers of those periodicals for permission to use the material in the present form. Book excerpt: Fishing for elephants explains the creative processes of art and life with a conversational, humorous, and informative voice. While it is geared towards artists, it is not a how to paint something to look like something book. It's a how to think for yourself, move forward, get out of your comfort zone, get out of your own way, define your voice, refine your voice, focus on those characteristics of creating that are authentic to you and try new directions kind of book for all levels. Designed to help you discover new artistic directions and open the neural pathways to creative problem-solving, Fishing for elephants is presented in two halves. The first contains everything you need to know about the process of creativity; what keeps you from it, what it is, how to use it and how to get unstuck. It's flipping all your light switches on kind of stuff. The truth is anyone can be more creative with just a few easy steps. The second half, VoiceFinding, is the first half put into action for artists who want to get to their core authentic self, or just want to push out a little. There are more than 150 examples and unconventional exercises designed to break this process into bite-sized chunks so your genius skill-set will expand exponentially. It's year-long class in a workbook format, with areas to answer creative challenges, set goals, write artist's statements, sketch out ideas, apply processes like free association, mind maps, reportage, mixed-media, and continuous line drawing in new and thought-challenging ways. Written by nationally recognized, award-winning artist and creative coach, Larry Moore.

Book A Fishing Life Is Hard Work

Download or read book A Fishing Life Is Hard Work written by Art Scheck and published by Stackpole Books. This book was released on 2003 with total page 190 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "On a good evening in June I can hear the frogs booming and croaking the instant I shut down the car in the parking lot a hundred yards from the pond in the middle of town. . . . By the time I've reached the end of the path, I've shut out the sounds of cars a hundred yards away on Main Street. For the next hour, the world will shrink to this little piece of water." What could be better than to work in a business that relates so closely to one's hobby? Art Scheck works in the fishing business as an author and magazine editor. In this collection, he confesses how he became disenchanted with fishing when he began working long hours in the business, and how his humor and his love of time spent alone fishing whatever water was nearby brought back his appreciation of the simple joys of fishing for fun.
