Download or read book A Casebook on Labour Law written by Ewan McGaughey and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2018-11-29 with total page 997 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Casebook on Labour Law supports every university labour or employment law course in the UK, set within European Union and international law. It covers history and theory, contract and rights, participation, equality, and job security. It also has chapters on essential topics for modern labour policy: the right to vote for company boards, in work councils and pension funds, and laws to achieve full employment by ending underpaid underemployment. Each chapter summarises further reading from noteworthy books and journals, and follows a unified conceptual structure. This aims to transcend historic divisions between common law or statute, private or public, and national or international law. The book invites the reader to engage in the economic and social evidence about labour law's empirical consequences and political principles.

Download or read book Consumer ADR in Europe written by Christopher Hodges and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2012-05-10 with total page 516 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the first systematic comparative study into how consumer ADR systems (usually ombudsmen and médiateurs) work, the differing national architectures within which they operate and how they can be improved. It describes ADR schemes in Belgium, France, Germany, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom as well as emerging pan-EU dispute resolution schemes. Use of the techniques of mediation, conciliation and adjudication are noted. It also covers EU measures on consumer ADR, and 2011 proposals for legislation on ADR and ODR. Data on volumes, cost and duration of ADR schemes are compared, both between different systems and with courts. The authors' findings underpin EU and national developments, and outline options for future policy. Findings and proposals are included for the functions, scope, performance, essential requirements, architecture and operation of ADR systems. The relationships between ADR, courts and regulators are discussed, and need for reforms are noted. This is a ground-breaking work that will have a major impact on European legal systems. This title is included in Bloomsbury Professional's International Arbitration online service.
Download or read book Forced Saving written by Hazel Bateman and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2001-11-20 with total page 278 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Forced Saving, first published in 2001, offers an analysis of pension policy from an economic perspective. It begins with an overview of the problem of population ageing around the world, and then provides a framework within which policy responses may be consistently assessed. It focuses on the 'mandating' approach to retirement income policy, in which governments are compelling individuals - or their employers - to take on this responsibility, at least in part. The role of government becomes limited to one of mandating contributions from wages, along with regulating private fund managers to a greater or lesser extent. The authors explore the implications of introducing such a policy reform. They argue that while there is no universal agreement on the relative costs and benefits of this policy approach, there are often some advantages to moving at least some distance down the mandating path.
