Book excerpt: After a radical plan of world domination is uncovered, an elite intelligence team must attempt to stop the jihadist threat before western civilization is destroyed forever. It is 1966, and Commander Trent McStuart has just landed inside the area known as the Golden Triangle, Southeast Asias most prolific source of opiates. He has no idea that he is about to uncover a secret microfilm containing the key to radical Islams hundred-year plan to dominate the world. Once the shocking scheme is revealed, it commands the immediate attention of the US and British governments. As both countries mobilize intelligence forces to track down its source, they call on the elusive Black Orchid, a covert, London- based agency, to lead in the endeavor. In turn, the Black Orchid recruits members from MI5, MI6, the CIA and the NSA to devise a means to combat the plans initial phase, setting its sights on one of radical Islams primary sources of funding the opium fields of Afghanistan. In this riveting tale based on actual people and events, only time will tell if the Black Orchid can eliminate the forces determined to destroy western civilizationbefore it is too late.
Download or read book The Holy Trinity and the Law of Three written by Cynthia Bourgeault and published by Shambhala Publications. This book was released on 2013-07-09 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. In this formula that Christians recite as though on autopilot lie the secrets for healing our world, rekindling our visionary imagination, and manifesting the Kingdom of Heaven on earth. It’s an astonishing claim, but one that is supported by Cynthia Bourgeault’s exploration of Trinitarian theology—and by her bold work in further articulating the deep truth it contains. She looks to the ancient concept in light of the ideas of G. I. Gurdjieff and Jacob Boehme to reveal the Trinity as the "hidden driveshaft" within Christianity: the compassionate expression of the Uncreated Reality in creation.

Download or read book Calvin s Doctrine of the Last Things written by H. Quistorp and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2009-06-05 with total page 201 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The far-reaching revival of evangelical theology is linked in Europe, Britain, and the United States with a re-discovery of the fundamental truths which the great reformers taught. In no instance is this more sharply seen than in the reformers' view of the fundamental eschatological character of the Gospel. In this book Heinrich Quistorp provides an illuminating survey of Calvin's conception of Hope, Immortality, Judgment, and Consummation in Christ. In his exposition of Calvin's Doctrine the author shows that for the reformer hope is in fact the touchstone of a true and living faith. . . . Christ is the foundation and the end of the hope of those who share communion with Him. His second coming is nothing other than the unfolding of that atoning work which He accomplished at His first coming. For those in the reformed tradition who wish to have a concise account of Calvin's teaching this book will be a first-rate book of reference, and for all readers it will reveal something of the range and power of Calvin's view of the Christian faith as it faces present time and eternal destiny.

Download or read book Human Centered Buddhism written by Venerable Master Yinshun and published by Dharma Translation Organization. This book was released on 2009-05-01 with total page 99 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The process of Buddhism’s transmission to China in the distant past and its present transmission to the West have striking parallels. The Buddhist scriptures and practices that crept gradually into China from India had developed in different historical periods and in different environments. The ways in which the ancient Chinese made sense of the bewildering array of Buddhist doctrines that had developed over hundreds of years in India and adapted them to their own circumstances ultimately gave rise to a uniquely Chinese Buddhism. The West now seems to be much like ancient China, encountering many different threads of Buddhism coming from distant lands, threads which reflect many permutations of Buddhist thought and practice that developed in Asia over the past 2500 years under circumstances quite foreign to the present. Do these various forms have anything in common? What, then, is Buddhism? How will it adapt to Western culture and still be Buddhism? What does it have to offer people living a twenty-first century modern life? In this book, the eminent Chinese Buddhist Master Yinshun gives us some answers.

Download or read book The First and the Last written by George Sumner and published by Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing. This book was released on 2004-07 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As Christians become more engaged with the reality of religious pluralism, many find themselves torn between two worthy goals - to be faithful to the lordship of Jesus Christ and to be open generously to possible truths found in other religions. In The First and the Last George Sumner offers a constructive way forward, showing how Christian theology can bring these two goals together. At stake in the current debate over religious pluralism is the issue not only of evangelism and mission but also of the Christian claim to the uniqueness of Jesus Christ. Sumner leads readers through the challenges and possibilities raised by this debate, and he outlines a distinctive new method for assessing from a Christian standpoint the claims and practices of neighboring faiths. The crux of Sumner's approach is what he calls "final primacy," a position that (1) sets non-Christian religions in relation to the unique mediating role of Jesus Christ and (2) relates the truth claims of other religions to the overall scheme of grace. Sumner goes on to demonstrate the effectiveness of this position in practical terms, using final primacy as a frame of reference for a number of twentieth-century theologies - namely, those of Barth, Rahner, and Pannenberg - and as a way of examining both Indian and African theologies against their respective backgrounds of Hinduism and tribal practices. Additionally, the book serves as an excellent introduction to the history of interfaith thought: Sumner both surveys how religious pluralism has been handled in the past and illustrates how the position of final primacy at once redefines and promotes its most pressing issue - interreligious dialogue. A provocative approach to religious pluralism sure to stir widespread discussion, The First and the Last provides valuable reading for anyone interested in theology, interfaith dialogue, and missions.
