Earth has been used up, spent, depleted; the degenerate and immoral miscreants known as the human race have spread to the twenty-four space stations surrounding its lifeless corpse. Space Station Delta, a melting pot of iniquity and depravity, was the worst of the lot. At least, that's what Jack Gemini, private eye and self-proclaimed alcoholic, has decided. It was the perfect punishment for his sordid and sleazy past, a past he struggled to let go, a past that wouldn't let him go. SHOCKING TWISTS! Eight years ago Jack fell into a time vortex and lost five years of his life. He'd lost his home, his job, his wife... And now she was back, asking for his help. GRIPPING MYSTERY! Stalked by a mysterious masked man and multiple murders, Jack Gemini must search for the husband of the woman he still loves, a professor with links to his own past! Follow the beleaguered P.I. as the case pulls him from one side of Space Station Delta to the other, and even to Earth itself! STAGGERING SECRETS REVEALED! From the back of the book: "I was staring into deep space the night she crashed back into my life." A missing person. A mysterious masked man. Murder. It was all in a night's work for Private Investigator Jack Gemini. But when his ex-wife turns up at his door and a bomber targets his lover's bar, Jack finds himself unravelling a case that will overturn everything he thought was true.

An insane cult, The Church of the Third Encounter, stalks the streets of Space Station Delta… but it’s not the only thing stalking the streets … A copycat killer! A killer that’s oddly familiar. FORGERIES AND FRAUDS, CULTS AND KILLERS! She seeks answers to deeper questions that underpin her life, beliefs, and foundations. Will she leave behind her excess baggage and don her own oxygen mask before it’s too late? Book International partnerships in large science projects

Download or read book International partnerships in large science projects written by and published by DIANE Publishing. This book was released on 1995 with total page 140 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the past several decades, the federal government has supported a wide range of research projects in science and technology. Federal support has been crucial to many of the most important research and development (R & D) achievements in defense, space, energy, environmental, and other science and technology programs. Recently, however, federal budget deficits and concerns about the effectiveness of research efforts have intensified pressures on government R & D spending, making it difficult to sustain many ongoing efforts and limiting opportunities for new ventures. These pressures, coupled with the increasingly international character of science and technology R & D activities, have focused greater attention on bilateral and multilateral collaborative arrangements, particularly for large-scale, long-term projects in areas such as particle physics, energy and environmental science, and space. The United States has pursued international collaborative projects in R & D to raise the likelihood of scientific success for particularly complex endeavors, to take greater advantage of international scientific expertise and facilities, to address science and technology issues that have global implications, to extend national scientific capabilities, and especially for very large science projects, to share costs and risks with other nations. International collaboration, however, poses special challenges, such as establishing R & D priorities within and across different scientific disciplines, developing funding and planning mechanisms that ensure the long-term stability of projects, and maintaining U.S. economic and national security interests.

Book The Last of NASA s Original Pilot Astronauts

Download or read book The Last of NASA s Original Pilot Astronauts written by David J. Shayler and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-06-19 with total page 455 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Resulting from the authors’ deep research into these two pre-Shuttle astronaut groups, many intriguing and untold stories behind the selection process are revealed in the book. The often extraordinary backgrounds and personal ambitions of these skilled pilots, chosen to continue NASA’s exploration and knowledge of the space frontier, are also examined. In April 1966 NASA selected 19 pilot astronauts whose training was specifically targeted to the Apollo lunar landing missions and the Earth-orbiting Skylab space station. Three years later, following the sudden cancellation of the USAF’s highly classified Manned Orbiting Laboratory (MOL) project, seven military astronauts were also co-opted into NASA’s space program. This book represents the final chapter by the authors in the story of American astronaut selections prior to the era of the Space Shuttle. Through personal interviews and original NASA documentation, readers will also gain a true insight into a remarkable age of space travel as it unfolded in the late 1960s, and the men who flew those historic missions.
