Book The Feasts of Israel and the Great Wedding

Download or read book The Feasts of Israel and the Great Wedding written by Glen Carpenter and published by Glen Carpenter. This book was released on 2012-12-15 with total page 38 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is excerpted and expanded from: CONNECTIONS: A Guide to Types and Symbols in the Bible This book focuses on the Feasts of Israel under the Law of Moses, including the two great deliverance feasts (Purim and Hanukah), and concludes with the Lord's Supper and the Marriage Supper (of the Lamb). It is little known within the Christian world, but widely known in Judaism, that all of the Feasts of Israel are related to the concept of a wedding feast -especially the Feast of Tabernacles. This book is all about the profound symbolism of each of these feasts, and how they closely intertwine with each other. The culmination is a study of the progression from the Lord's Supper (Last Supper) and the Marriage Feast of the Lamb in Revelation. It includes some astounding truths about our relationship with the Lord, and tackles the question: are we married to the Lord, or only betrothed? There are seemingly contradictory passages in the epistles concerning this, but the puzzle is pieced together in a way that will prod the reader to find a closer relationship to the Lord. Even the prophesied supernatural "hiding" of the saints in the dark times to come are discussed Koinonia is also shown to be the great key to understanding all of these subjects, and the meaning of this word is explored in all its magnificence.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What do the feasts of the Bible reveal about our place in today’s tired world? In short, everything. From Genesis through Revelation, redemptive history is captured through feasts. Through them, God calls his people to commemorate mercy, delight in grace, and commune with him and with each other. In the process, he proves he doesn’t ration his rich, soul-satisfying love toward us but instead lets it overflow. Invitations to Abundance brings to life the festivities described in the Bible and illuminates how relevant they remain in a modern world defined by isolation and disillusionment. When your heart needs encouragement, these wondrous celebrations remind you why, where, and how you can find security, unity, and hope. Each chapter seats us at a unique feast from Scripture—from the well known to the less familiar—and considers how you can respond worshipfully as a partaker of these celebrations. Invitations to Abundance shows you how to reciprocate God’s initiating kindness and what it means to live knowing God’s table is spread before you.

Download or read book Jesus the Bridegroom written by Phillip J. Long and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2013-11-06 with total page 299 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Did Jesus claim to be the "bridegroom"? If so, what did he mean by this claim? When Jesus says that the wedding guests should not fast "while the bridegroom is with them" (Mark 2:19), he is claiming to be a bridegroom by intentionally alluding to a rich tradition from the Hebrew Bible. By eating and drinking with "tax collectors and other sinners," Jesus was inviting people to join him in celebrating the eschatological banquet. While there is no single text in the Hebrew Bible or the literature of the Second Temple Period which states the "messiah is like a bridegroom," the elements for such a claim are present in several texts in Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Hosea. By claiming that his ministry was an ongoing wedding celebration he signaled the end of the Exile and the restoration of Israel to her position as the Lord's beloved wife. This book argues that Jesus combined the tradition of an eschatological banquet with a marriage metaphor in order to describe the end of the Exile as a wedding banquet.

Book Fulfilling the Feasts of Israel

Download or read book Fulfilling the Feasts of Israel written by Velda Stearns and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2013-03-29 with total page 160 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The seven Jewish feasts, which God gave to ancient Israel, help unlock the entire Bible. They were not feasts as we think of them but were structured around the sacrificial altar to worship God. The Jewish people have celebrated these feasts, in one form or another, for 3,500 years, totally unaware they are rehearsing future events that point to the Messiah. It is unfortunate that Christians rarely celebrate the feasts or understand their significance. The feasts reveal Gods divine seven-thousand-year plan of salvation for mankind. Each feast is celebrated on the same day each year, to remind of a special time in the history of Israel. They reveal a record of atonement in the Old Testament and point to redemption in the New Testament. The seven feasts paint a beautiful picture of Gods plan of salvation through Christ, His Son. They point to the soon return of our Savior, Jesus Christ, and the glorious future reign of the Messiah. Christians refer to Him as Jesus Christ, while messianic believers call Him Yeshua. Understanding the significance of the feasts encourages believers to share the good news of salvation with the lost. I pray you will be greatly blessed as you read Fulfilling the Feasts of Israel.

Download or read book Jesus the Bridegroom written by Brant Pitre and published by Image. This book was released on 2018-02-13 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The bestselling follow-up to Jesus and the Jewish Roots of the Eucharist. Includes a reader's guide and an excerpt from Pitre's The Case for Jesus. In Jesus the Bridegroom, Brant Pitre once again taps into the wells of Jewish Scripture and tradition, and unlocks the secrets of what is arguably the most well-known symbol of the Christian faith: the cross of Christ. In this thrilling exploration, Pitre shows how the suffering and death of Jesus was far more than a tragic Roman execution. Instead, the Passion of Christ was the fulfillment of ancient Jewish prophecies of a wedding, when the God of the universe would wed himself to humankind in an everlasting nuptial covenant. To be sure, most Christians are familiar with the apostle Paul’s teaching that Christ is the ‘Bridegroom’ and the Church is the ‘Bride’. But what does this really mean? And what would ever possess Paul to compare the death of Christ to the love of a husband for his wife? If you would have been at the Crucifixion, with Jesus hanging there dying, is that how you would have described it? How could a first-century Jew like Paul, who knew how brutal Roman crucifixions were, have ever compared the execution of Jesus to a wedding? And why does he refer to this as the “great mystery” (Ephesians 5:32)? As Pitre shows, the key to unlocking this mystery can be found by going back to Jewish Scripture and tradition and seeing the entire history of salvation, from Mount Sinai to Mount Calvary, as a divine love story between Creator and creature, between God and Israel, between Christ and his bride—a story that comes to its climax on the wood of a Roman cross. In the pages of Jesus the Bridegroom, dozens of familiar passages in the Bible—the Exodus, the Song of Songs, the Wedding at Cana, the Woman at the Well, the Last Supper, the Crucifixion, and even the Second Coming at the End of Time—are suddenly transformed before our eyes. Indeed, when seen in the light of Jewish Scripture and tradition, the life of Christ is nothing less than the greatest love story ever told.
