Book excerpt: Van Tassel was a classic 1950s contactee in the mold of George Adamski, Truman Bethurum, Daniel Fry, Orfeo Angelucci and many others. He hosted "The Giant Rock Spacecraft Convention" annually beside the Rock, from 1953 to 1978, which attracted at its peak in 1959 as many as 10,000 attendees. Guests trekked to the desert by car or landed airplanes on Van Tassel's small airstrip, called Giant Rock Airport. Over the years, every famous contactee of the period appeared personally at these conventions, and many more not-so-famous ones. References often state that the first and most famous contactee, George Adamski, pointedly boycotted these conventions; however, Adamski did, in fact attend the third convention, held in 1955, where he gave a 35-minute lecture and was interviewed by Edward J. Ruppelt, once head of the Air Force Project Blue Book. It was apparently the only such convention Adamski ever attended. Van Tassel founded a metaphysics research organization called The Ministry of Universal Wisdom, and The College of Universal Wisdom to codify the spiritual revelations he was now regularly receiving via communications with the people from Space.Proceedings of the College of Universal Wisdom was the official publication of the College of Universal Wisdom, the educational branch of the ministry of Universal Wisdom, founded by George W. Van Tassell (1910-1978). Van Tassell was the author of I Rode in a Flying Saucer (1952) and other books and the organizer of Giant Rock Space Convention, held annually at Giant Rock Airport, near Yucca Valley, California. The ministry was founded to perpetuate the teaching received from UFO visitors. The messages from outer space were published in the Proceedings. He says there are predictions referring to spaceships throughout the Bible, among them the prophecy that there will be a day when the ships will come to take the people who are ready, leaving those who are not prepared to face the cataclysmic destruction inevitably approaching. This book explains the vortices of the human body that are responsible for the reasons that certain individuals affect one so strongly on meeting, a violent, a strong attraction without apparent cause, and also explain a person's effect on each others. With the expansion of the American suburbs after WWII, women suddenly needed cars of their own. By adopting the fashion industry's yearly model changes, as well as hiring many designers and stylists from the fashion industry, the automobile industry made a direct appeal to the rising sophistication and influence of women. By perfecting the fashion-centric concept of planned obsolescence, it became the dominant economic engine of American postwar prosperity. The dramatic photography, elegant fashion, and use of color and materials in midcentury automotive marketing created a groundswell of demand for new cars. Much of the marketing imagery of the period hasn't been published since it first came out, and this book features some of the best.

Though electromagnetic fields have sometimes been associated with potential for harm to the body, there are many BEM instruments and devices re-emerging in the 21st century, based on high voltage Tesla coils, that apparently bring beneficial health improvements to human organisms. The Tesla coil class of therapy devices constitute pulsed electromagnetic fields (PEMF) that deliver broadband, wide spectrum, nonthermal photons and electrons deep into biological tissue. Electromedicine or electromagnetic medicine are the terms applied to such developments in the ELF, RF, IR, visible or UV band. With short term, non-contacting exposures of several minutes at a time, such high voltage Tesla PEMF devices may represent the ideal, noninvasive therapy of the future, accompanied by a surprising lack of harmful side effects. A biophysical rationale for the benefits of BEM healing a wide variety of illnesses including cancer, proposes a correlation between a bioelectromagnetically restored transmembrane potential, and the electron transport across cell membranes by electroporation, with normal cell metabolism and immune system enhancement. The century-long historical record of these devices is also traced, revealing highly questionable behavior from the medical and public health institutions toward such remarkable innovations. This book also reviews the highlights of several BEM inventions but does not present an exhaustive nor comprehensive review of bioelectromagnetic healing devices. It should not be construed as an attempt to prescribe or recommend treatment of any kind. This report is simply designed to provide referenced information on an energy science that is almost impossible to learn about otherwise.
