Book The Fast Fourier Hadamard Transform and Its Use in Signal Representation and Classification

Download or read book The Fast Fourier Hadamard Transform and Its Use in Signal Representation and Classification written by J. E Whelchel (Jr) and published by . This book was released on 1968 with total page 14 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A discrete time transform was studied and applied to the representation and discrimination of digitized signals. The transform consists of an orthogonal (Hadamard) matrix whose elements are all ones and minus ones. To facilitate implementation, a fast Hadamard transform (FHT) has been developed requiring only NlogN rather than N squared algebraic additions. Several properties of the FHT are revealed, including the nature of its presence in the fast Fourier transform, in which it performs the additive operations as shown by further decomposing the product of matrices representing the FFT.

Book Spectral Logic and Its Applications for the Design of Digital Devices

Download or read book Spectral Logic and Its Applications for the Design of Digital Devices written by Mark G. Karpovsky and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2008-07-14 with total page 642 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Spectral techniques facilitate the design and testing of today's increasingly complex digital devices There is heightened interest in spectral techniques for the design of digital devices dictated by ever increasing demands on technology that often cannot be met by classical approaches. Spectral methods provide a uniform and consistent theoretic environment for recent achievements in this area, which appear divergent in many other approaches. Spectral Logic and Its Applications for the Design of Digital Devices gives readers a foundation for further exploration of abstract harmonic analysis over finite groups in the analysis, design, and testing of digital devices. After an introduction, this book provides the essential mathematical background for discussing spectral methods. It then delves into spectral logic and its applications, covering: * Walsh, Haar, arithmetic transform, Reed-Muller transform for binary-valued functions and Vilenkin-Chrestenson transform, generalized Haar, and other related transforms for multiple-valued functions * Polynomial expressions and decision diagram representations for switching and multiple-value functions * Spectral analysis of Boolean functions * Spectral synthesis and optimization of combinational and sequential devices * Spectral methods in analysis and synthesis of reliable devices * Spectral techniques for testing computer hardware This is the authoritative reference for computer science and engineering professionals and researchers with an interest in spectral methods of representing discrete functions and related applications in the design and testing of digital devices. It is also an excellent text for graduate students in courses covering spectral logic and its applications.

Book Orthogonal Transforms for Digital Signal Processing

Download or read book Orthogonal Transforms for Digital Signal Processing written by N. Ahmed and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 274 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is intended for those wishing to acquire a working knowledge of orthogonal transforms in the area of digital signal processing. The authors hope that their introduction will enhance the opportunities for interdiscipli nary work in this field. The book consists of ten chapters. The first seven chapters are devoted to the study of the background, motivation and development of orthogonal transforms, the prerequisites for which are a basic knowledge of Fourier series transform (e.g., via a course in differential equations) and matrix al gebra. The last three chapters are relatively specialized in that they are di rected toward certain applications of orthogonal transforms in digital signal processing. As such, a knowlegde of discrete probability theory is an essential additional prerequisite. A basic knowledge of communication theory would be helpful, although not essential. Much of the material presented here has evolved from graduate level courses offered by the Departments of Electrical Engineering at Kansas State University and the University of Texas at Arlington, during the past five years. With advanced graduate students, all the material was covered in one semester. In the case of first year graduate students, the material in the first seven chapters was covered in one semester. This was followed by a prob lems project-oriented course directed toward specific applications, using the material in the last three chapters as a basis.

Book Microprocessor Based Control Systems

Download or read book Microprocessor Based Control Systems written by N.K. Sinha and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 413 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recent advances in LSI technology and the consequent availability of inexpensive but powerful microprocessors have already affected the process control industry in a significant manner. Microprocessors are being increasingly utilized for improving the performance of control systems and making them more sophisticated as well as reliable. Many concepts of adaptive and learning control theory which were considered impractical only 20 years ago are now being implemented. With these developments there has been a steady growth in hardware and software tools to support the microprocessor in its complex tasks. With the current trend of using several microprocessors for performing the complex tasks in a modern control system, a great deal of emphasis is being given to the topic of the transfer and sharing of information between them. Thus the subject of local area networking in the industrial environment has become assumed great importance. The object of this book is to present both hardware and software concepts that are important in the development of microprocessor-based control systems. An attempt has been made to obtain a balance between theory and practice, with emphasis on practical applications. It should be useful for both practicing engineers and students who are interested in learning the practical details of the implementation of microprocessor-based control systems. As some of the related material has been published in the earlier volumes of this series, duplication has been avoided as far as possible.

Book Fast Fourier Transform Algorithms and Applications

Download or read book Fast Fourier Transform Algorithms and Applications written by K.R. Rao and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-02-21 with total page 437 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents an introduction to the principles of the fast Fourier transform. This book covers FFTs, frequency domain filtering, and applications to video and audio signal processing. As fields like communications, speech and image processing, and related areas are rapidly developing, the FFT as one of essential parts in digital signal processing has been widely used. Thus there is a pressing need from instructors and students for a book dealing with the latest FFT topics. This book provides thorough and detailed explanation of important or up-to-date FFTs. It also has adopted modern approaches like MATLAB examples and projects for better understanding of diverse FFTs.

Book Transmission of Information by Orthogonal Functions

Download or read book Transmission of Information by Orthogonal Functions written by Henning F. Harmuth and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 406 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The orthogonality of functions has been exploited in communications since its very beginning. Conscious and extensive use was made of it by Kotel'nikov in theoretical work in 1947. Ten years later a considerable number of people were working in this field. However, little experimental use could be made of the theoretical results before the arrival of solid state operational amplifiers and integrated circuits. The advantages of Walsh functions, which are emphasized in this book, were recognized independently by several scientists in the early sixties. Among them were E. Gibbs, K. Henderson, F.Ohnsorg, G. Sandy and E. Vandivere, whose work was not published until many years later. Somewhat more than half the illustrations in this second edition were not contained in the first edition and this reflects the changes in contents. The most striking difference between the two editions is the progress toward practical applications made in the intervening three years. However, it may turn out that the most important change is one that appears rather theoretical on the surface and that concerns shift-invariant features strongly connected with sine-cosine functions. These functions are projections of the exponential function which, in turn, is the character group of the real numbers. The topology of the real numbers is generally accepted to be the same as that of time or a one-dimensional space, and this is the basis for a variety of claims that sinusoidal functions are unique and superior to all others.
