Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is an entertainment book with real facts and history concerning about these aluminum birds with big wings we see every day in the sky. After doing many surveys and talking to people in airports worldwide, I found out that people do not have much knowledge about the fascinating world of aviation. I felt that I had to tell them with simple words, a little bit of my personal traveling experience, and with all my research done with books of different languages like Portuguese, Italian, Spanish, and English. I will tell facts and history of the airplanes. We all take flight in some point of our life. Buying a ticket, first thing is to check the price and compare it with all the different airlines to get the best bargain. Timeframe, documents and visas if you are going out of the country. Check the weather, clothes to wear, seat in the plane (window or corridor), etc. Do you know what manufacturer is the airplane you are going to be when you are 35,000 feet in the air? How the huge plane with more than 300,000 lb. of weight can stay in the air? How safe are they? The difference between one and another. This book will answer these questions and many more about aviation. My book The Fascinating World of Aviation describe in an enjoyable way with the following five chapters: 1. History of Aviation 2. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hello pilots! Welcome to the fascinating world of Aviation. This is the first step of what will be an exciting adventure throughout the career of an Airplane pilot. Whether for sports or commercial purposes, we will develop each stage of our learning, professionally, with the highest educational standards. During the course of this reading, we will find fascinating chapters where we will learn everything related to the knowledge involved in owning the “Private Pilot" license, granted by the aeronautical authority of each country. This manual proposes an innovative, proven, and successful teaching methodology for students of different levels and countries throughout the American continent. This innovative instruction program covers the knowledge necessary to perform professionally and safely on each flight. The teaching methodology offered by the Aeronautical Library in all its manuals proposes not only to cover simple theoretical contents, like any other book, but also to simulate the day-to-day life of each operation, placing the reader in the role of a pilot who is developing each task in a typical flight. This simulation accelerates the learning process, assimilating concepts and examples in an agile and permanent way. In this book, you will arrive at the flight school, analyze the manuals, check the plane step by step, then get on and adopt the correct posture. Then you will make the flight with all the maneuvers required for the Private Pilot license, returning to the aerodrome to analyze the flight made. After this "typical day" of a Pilot, we will arrive at the classroom where we will learn all about engines, navigation, aerodynamics, and flight instruments. It is my commitment as an author and flight instructor, to share all the knowledge and experiences lived and I commit you as readers and future Pilots, to enjoy every page, every example, and every book of the Aeronautical Library. Be aware that training makes excellence, so I invite you to read again each book as many times as necessary to remember concepts and strengthen lessons learned. Welcome to Aviation! Capt. Facundo Conforti.

Book From Playgrounds to Playstation

Download or read book From Playgrounds to Playstation written by Carroll Pursell and published by Johns Hopkins University Press+ORM. This book was released on 2015-04-23 with total page 277 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This “engaging social history of play” explores how technology and culture have shaped toys, games, and leisure—and vice versa (Choice). In this romp through the changing landscape of nineteenth- and twentieth-century American toys, games, hobbies, and amusements, technology historian Carroll Pursell poses a simple but interesting question: What can we learn by studying the relationship between technology and play? From Playgrounds to PlayStation explores how play reflects and drives the evolution of American culture. Pursell engagingly examines the ways in which technology affects play and play shapes people. The objects that children (and adults) play with and play on, along with their games and the hobbies they pursue, can reinforce but also challenge gender roles and cultural norms. Inventors—who often talk about “playing” at their work, as if motivated by the pure fun of invention—have used new materials and technologies to reshape sports and gameplay, sometimes even crafting new, extreme forms of recreation, but always responding to popular demand. Drawing from a range of sources, including scholarly monographs, patent records, newspapers, and popular and technical journals, the book covers numerous modes and sites of play. Pursell touches on the safety-conscious playground reform movement, the dazzling mechanical innovations that gave rise to commercial amusement parks, and the media’s colorful promotion of toys, pastimes, and sporting events. Along the way, he shows readers how technology enables the forms, equipment, and devices of play to evolve constantly, both reflecting consumer choices and driving innovators and manufacturers to promote toys that involve entirely new kinds of play—from LEGOs and skateboards to beading kits and videogames.
