Download or read book Shekhinah Spirit written by Michael Lodahl and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2012-07-01 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Shekhinah/Spirit is a daring rediscovery of the role of the Spirit of God that runs through both Judaism and Christianity. It explores the rich and diverse history of Jewish interpretations of the divine presence and shows how many profound Jewish insights impact or relate to Christian understanding of the Holy Spirit. The author argues for the viability of a "Spirit Christology" that can be understood from within the covenant relationship and points to the exciting implications such directions will have for the doctrine of the Trinity among Christians. At the same time it links Judaism and Christianity in dialogue to a common ground in the saving activity of the God of Israel. Shekhinah/Spirit is a provocative attempt to deepen the grounds of discussion in the Jewish-Christian dialogue. It moves beyond the sticking point of Christological disputes to consider broader aspects of the questions of God's plan. It explores three important areas in depth: the question of exclusivism in election, evil, and eschatology. The author works with a series of major problem areas in order to help bridge misunderstandings and roadblocks by using a process of relational theology. This book is full of rich insights into the spirituality of both God's presence and God's spirit in the Judeo-Christian tradition.

  • Pages : 110 pages

Download or read book The Shekinah Glory written by George Miller and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2007-09 with total page 110 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Some times the Shekinah Glory is mentioned in Bible study books, or theological works. It is referred to as the "Glory Cloud" that covered the Ark and the Tabernacle. This study of the Shekinah Glory of God begins in Genesis and continues through to the book of Revelation. From the beginning of the Bible to the end, the Shekinah Glory is manifested. The reader will be impressed at the last revelation of the Shekinah when he sees how much God the Father loves His children whom He has redeemed through the cross of Christ. The Glory of the Shekinah is seen coming down from heaven to dwell with His children on earth for ever. This manifestation of the Father is a new teaching to many Bible students. It is the prayer of the author that this book will be able to bring glory and praise to God. Amen! The author of this book did not take the well traveled road. He came out of the slums of south Baltimore. He started studying the Bible when he was a teenager and the Bible has been his life's work. He never finished high school and yet went to seminary first, and then attended college. He graduated summa cum laude, and first in the class from Nyack College, to get his Masters degree. He has been a pastor for many years. The Shekinah Glory was his seminary thesis. George Miller dedicates this book to his wife, Edwina, who asked him many times to publish his thesis. He has tried to simplify the subject so that beginners as well as the more mature theologians may enjoy this study and learn from it. May the Lord bless the reading of this book.

Book excerpt: First published in 1976, Paul Johnson’s exceptional study of Christianity has been loved and widely hailed for its intensive research, writing, and magnitude—“a tour de force, one of the most ambitious surveys of the history of Christianity ever attempted and perhaps the most radical” (New York Review of Books). In a highly readable companion to books on faith and history, the scholar and author Johnson has illuminated the Christian world and its fascinating history in a way that no other has. Johnson takes off in the year AD 49 with his namesake the apostle Paul. Thus beginning an ambitious quest to paint the centuries since the founding of a little-known ‘Jesus Sect’, A History of Christianity explores to a great degree the evolution of the Western world. With an unbiased and overall optimistic tone, Johnson traces the fantastic scope of the consequent sects of Christianity and the people who followed them. Information drawn from extensive and varied sources from around the world makes this history as credible as it is reliable. Invaluable understanding of the framework of modern Christianity—and its trials and tribulations throughout history—has never before been contained in such a captivating work.

Book The Ark of the Covenant in Its Egyptian Context

Download or read book The Ark of the Covenant in Its Egyptian Context written by David Falk and published by Hendrickson Publishers. This book was released on 2020 with total page 225 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Although much has been written about the Ark of the Covenant, few authors engage the wealth of information available that pertains to Egyptian material culture. [This] is the first book to explore the complex history of sacred ritual furniture in Egypt that predated the ark by hundreds of years. Within Egyptian culture, over four hundred examples of ritual furniture exist that shed light on the design and appearance of the ark. These examples form patterns that provide context for the Israelites' understanding of the ark at the time of its construction. That understanding would have been obvious to the Israelites of the time, but has since become obscured over the millennia. This groundbreaking book is the first to connect the Ark of the Covenant with the archaeology and chronology of ancient Egypt"--

Book Shekinah Glory in the Present Times God s Physical Manifestation in the Present Time

Download or read book Shekinah Glory in the Present Times God s Physical Manifestation in the Present Time written by Ssemugoma Evangelist Francisco and published by Independently Published. This book was released on 2019-03-16 with total page 36 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The word glory means, what God is and has in Him reveled. The glory is the concentrated or manifested presence of God.There are three types of God's presence recorded in scripture.1.The omnipresent presence; This denotes God being everywhere! John 14:17 "Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you." KJV. It's this kind of presence which convicts the world of sin and judgment. "And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment" KJV.2.The indwelling presence. This denotes the presence of God which enters in one after accepting Jesus as his personal Lord and Savior. John 14:17 (b) "....shall be in you". He does the work of sanctification after He enters into a person.3.The manifested presence (The glory of God). Acts 1:8 "But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth". The glory of God empowers us to become coworkers with God.There are different kinds of God's glories and these two deserve to be mentioned; Doxa glory and Shekinah glory. The Shekinah glory is discussed at length in this book and the instances in the modern history when the shekinah glory showed up, are discussed lengthily in this book.
