However, in the rush of providing training programs "on time" and "within budget," evaluation of training is frequently left behind as a "nice to have" addition, if practical. In addition, the training function itself is left with the dilemma of proving its worth to management without a substantive history of evaluation. This book is designed to provide managers, educators, and trainers alike the opportunity to explore the issues and benefits of evaluating business and industry training. The purpose is to motivate more effective decisions for training investments based on information about the value of training in attaining business goals. Without evaluation, the value of specific training efforts cannot be adequately measured, the value of training investments overall cannot be fully assessed, and the contributions of the training function to the corporation's goals cannot be duly recognized. Articles are grouped into three sections, althou~h many themes appear across sections. The first section estabhshes the context of training evaluation in a business organization. The general purpose of this thesis is to provide an idea about training evaluation and the aspects related to it. This thesis will be divided into five chapters. Chapter one is the introduction. It includes a general brief background about the development of training, and introduces the subject of training evaluation. This chapter ends by a general brief idea about management training which will be our focus. Chapter two deals with the process of training as a whole. It is an introductory chapter. It offers a definition of training, deals with training needs, training objectives, and show that training evaluation is the last level in the training process. The last part of this chapter deals with organization for training, that is, who is responsible for conducting training. As we shall see, training needs coordination of different bodies. Chapter three deals with training evaluation in detail. It deals also with the purposes, basic principles, and different types or levels of training evaluation. Chapter four deals with the methods used in training evaluation. Discussion will include the most common methods used in evaluation. Chapter five deals with the problems encountered in evaluating a training activity or program. Discussion also includes the most common problems which face evaluation. The thesis ends by a suggested form for evaluating training. The first two forms are to be filled by the participants, while the last one is to be filled by the supervisor. In general, the questions suggested try to measure trainees' reaction to the program in relation to the subject matter, training facilities, quantity and quality of the program, quality of the instructor, and the changes in employee's behavior and attitudes as a result of training. Finally, this thesis is a library work. It was difficult to find sources related to the subject of training evaluation. Anyhow, I hope this thesis will provide a plan or a model for training evaluation.
