This book was released on 2023-06-25 with total page 154 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: " The House of Mount St. Agnes, which lieth outside the walls of the town of Zwolle, and on the eastern side thereof, had its origin and completion in this way. The place used to be called in the vulgar tongue Mount Nemel and lieth not far from Zwolle, but one may traverse the distance in the space of an hour. Now there were in the State of Zwolle certain faithful men who had been turned wholly to God by Master Gerard Groote. These men had builded them an house, in a suburb belonging to the city, near an ancient Convent of Béguines, and here they served God humbly and with devotion. Amongst these the chief was John of Ummen, a man dedicated to God, and greatly beloved by Gerard; and with him there abode likewise Wychmann Rurinch, Reyner, son of Leo of Renen, and two or three others that were well disposed. Moreover, a certain Clerk that dwelt in those parts named Wittecoep, had joined himself to them and lived among them devoutly. There was also the mother of John of Ummen, named Regeland, a widow of ripe age, who ministered to the necessities of these servants of God, giving good heed to the care of the house as a faithful Martha. Most gladly would she listen to the Word of God, and, like Mary, was never sated with the sweetness of the Holy Scriptures that were read."

Book Dilemmas of Victory

    Book Details:
  • Author : Jeremy Brown
  • Publisher : Harvard University Press
  • Release : 2012-11-26
  • ISBN : 0674725220
  • Pages : 490 pages

Download or read book Dilemmas of Victory written by Jeremy Brown and published by Harvard University Press. This book was released on 2012-11-26 with total page 490 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This illuminating work examines the social, cultural, political, and economic dimensions of the Communist takeover of China. Instead of dwelling on elite politics and policy-making processes, Dilemmas of Victory seeks to understand how the 1949-1953 period was experienced by various groups, including industrialists, filmmakers, ethnic minorities, educators, rural midwives, philanthropists, stand-up comics, and scientists. A stellar group of authors that includes Frederic Wakeman, Elizabeth Perry, Sherman Cochran, Perry Link, Joseph Esherick, and Chen Jian shows that the Communists sometimes achieved a remarkably smooth takeover, yet at other times appeared shockingly incompetent. Shanghai and Beijing experienced it in ways that differed dramatically from Xinjiang, Tibet, and Dalian. Out of necessity, the new regime often showed restraint and flexibility, courting the influential and educated. Furthermore, many policies of the old Nationalist regime were quietly embraced by the new Communist rulers. Based on previously unseen archival documents as well as oral histories, these lively, readable essays provide the fullest picture to date of the early years of the People's Republic, which were far more pluralistic, diverse, and hopeful than the Maoist decades that followed.

This book was released on 2022-02-07 with total page 487 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Giovanni Villani’s New Chronicle traces the history of Europe, Italy, and Florence over a vast sweep of time – from the Tower of Babel to the great earthquake of 1348. In the eleventh and twelfth books, Villani depicts a particularly eventful period in the history of Florence, whose grandeur is illustrated in several famous chapters describing the city’s income, expenses, and magnificence. The dramatic account follows Florence’s internal affairs as well as its conflicts with powerful lords like Castruccio Castracani and Mastino della Scala. The chronicler’s perspective, however, ranges beyond his city, as he documents such events as the imperial coronation of Louis of Bavaria, the penitential pilgrimage of Venturino da Bergamo, and the first campaigns of the Hundred Year’s War.

Download or read book The Eleventh Commandment written by David J. McCarthy and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2013-12-30 with total page 157 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is written to break the greatest deception the devil (or adversary of God) has ever accomplished among Christians and nations. The devil is known as the Deceiver of Nations. KJV Revelation 12: And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. This specific deception has been missed by every nation. The devil (adversary of God) worked this deception with his usual intent. KJV John 10: The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. The devils MO or Mode of Operation is to steal, kill and destroy. It was his intent to hide the Eleventh Commandment, just so he (the devil), could steal, kill, and destroy God-kind. But God came that you might have life and have it more abundantly. Which would you rather have? Did you know that if you a leader of the church you will be responsible for breaking commandments of God (Exodus 32)? This is call to break the deception devil has woven. My impression from the Lord is over a Billion souls at stake. There are over a Billion souls both in the churches and still lost that this can and will affect.
