Book The Elephant and the Tiger

Download or read book The Elephant and the Tiger written by Parames Ghosh Dadu and published by Createspace Independent Pub. This book was released on 2012-12-01 with total page 24 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There was a big fat Elephant. He used to stand on four feet and doze every day after lunch. One afternoon, he was relaxing; his long trunk was hanging and swinging like a pendulum.A Tiger cub was passing by. He saw the swinging trunk and was tempted to bite at it. So he jumped, caught hold of the elephant's trunk and started swinging 'huii huii'. Elephant woke up immediately and was very angry. He lifted the tiger with his trunk, held the Tiger high in the air, swung and chucked the tiger in a near-by pool with a mighty force.Spashhhhhh, tiger fell into the pool, where a hungry crocodile was waiting with her jaws opened. As Tiger fell between her jaws, Crocodile chomped hard on it. The tiger got cut split into two halves. Two legs and the rear were in Crocodile's mouth, while Tiger's front kept swimming in the water, unaware of the rear half. With his blood, the pond water turned red.Elephant started walking after throwing the tiger away. Soon he came near the pool, to his dismay he found the tiger cut in two halves.Elephant was now very sorry & wanted to help the tiger. He ordered the crocodile, “open your mouth, Croc”. He dragged the rear half of the Tiger from her mouth.Elephant put Tiger's rear half on his back. Then he put Tiger's swimming front half on his back as well. On Elephant's back entire Tiger now rests, though cut into two separate pieces. Elephant wonders - how to put these pieces together.Elephant now set out in a search, to find someone who could put together two halves of the little dear tiger. He went to the weaver bird Babui & asked “Hi babui, can you please put these two together?” “No, I can't” – Babui said, “I use the straw as the thread to make the nest, but I can't sew the tiger. We need a sewing machine, to stitch Tiger's pieces together'.The tiger & Babui scratched their heads, what to do.....what to do?“Let's go to Nayan's place”, they decided. Babui sat on Elephant's head; flies a bit and shows the way to Nayan's place'. Elephant walks, with Tiger's halves, resting on the back, to Nayan's house.Elephant knocks at the door with his trunk. Nayan opened the door and 'wow' - he was surprised to find the guests; she had to break the door to let Elephant in.Elephant told Nayan what happened & begged and begged. At last Nayan agreed to help them. Nayan put a white cloth on the table & on that two Tiger halves were laid down.Nayan's mum Putum came, with the sewing machine. Tiger halves were put together, nicely joined by a Nayan's mum. “Would the stitched Tiger now be okay” asked the Elephant. Clever Nayan put milk bottle in the Tiger's mouth to see if there is any leak through the joint, just stitched. All OK, the tiger cub sucked on the milk bottle happily & fell asleep. Nayan had slept as Tiger had. Elephant fanned them with his trunk. Nayan had drunk milk from the bottle too. Nayan fell in deep sleep and so did Nayan's mum & dad.

Book Cinemagogue

Download or read book Cinemagogue written by James Harleman and published by Cinemagogue Press. This book was released on 2012-12 with total page 234 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Understand the shared story in which we all play a part. Connect human creativity with the impulse of our Creator. Explore the relationship between images and imaging God. Do you like movies? Are you a cinephile? Do your friends consult YOU instead of IMDB? Were you raised on television? Spend hours talking cinema? This book is definitely for you. If you're a casual consumer who thinks Hollywood exists simply for diversion, this book may change your life. ""I am a Junior film and Television student... your interpretations of the films have helped formed the kind of filmmaker I am becoming, and also the way I experience films."" Humans crave narrative and usually don't stop to question why. Are we perhaps created to consume story, to create story, because we're image bearers of a Master Storyteller? In this book, movies meet God at the multiplex as the author challenges readers to redefine entertainment, understand the story they're in, and experience a new integrated level of spirituality and entertainment. ""You actually look at the film aspects and see how the artist's worldview really comes through."" What can we learn about God from Doctor Who and Han Solo? What are people like Jon Stewart and even Michael Bay helping us understand about story, good and bad? Peppered with movie quotes and metaphors, journey through the incredible changes film and storytelling have had on 21st century culture. Instead of an overly-academic offering on film and faith, Cinemagogue weaves a narrative from the author's own pop culture saturated life to the Greatest Story Ever Told, from Superman to Citizen Kane, Bertrand Russell to John Frame, Kurt Vonnegut to the apostle Paul, from our favorite narrative to our shared meganarrative. .".".I grew up on television in the 80s and relate to the context you grew up in.... I thank God for you and your ability to glorify him in everything, no matter what."" Classic notions of story structure, "monomyth" and universally shared themes in both popular and classic tales are examined in light of ancient scripture. From there, readers can see the genesis of creativity and worldview distortions from which conversation can bring us back to the future. After a dirty dozen examples of popular film in chapter five (with questions for discussion) the book tackles common objections with genre and content: horror movies, foul language, violence, sexuality, magic and more... and how many traditional objections are overshadowed by incredible opportunities for those brave enough to overcome fear and wade into the culture stream, secure in their faith. ""Your talk was one of the final confirmations of our move to Los Angeles to re-engage the film business by getting upstream in culture and trying to influence from the top down. Worked as an assistant on a TV series for a year, and now I'm working at a digital marketing agency that does a ton of film/TV work, as well as writing/producing my own projects."" The book ends with a call and commission to those who consider themselves spiritual and religious to get their heads out of the sand, to start realizing and utilizing the power of narrative. .".".really convicted me in both the movie and gaming arena to analyze what I am watching/playing and why. I had almost zero discernment before stumbling onto your series..."" A requested resource by movie-goers, movie-makers, pastors and teachers, Cinemagogue is an extension of a website and podcast, providing a "how-to" for those who want to experience the transforming power inherent in all story. ""Listening to your podcasts... opened my eyes to examine what I watch even closer."" Take your entertainment seriously while simultaneously having more fun with it than ever before. Learn how to watch to glorify, to be edified, and possibly to evangelize. Even better, create to

Book The Toucan the Tiger the Elephant

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: BOOK SPECIFICS: Page count: 44 beautifully done pages. Word count: 7,300 Illustrations: 16 breathtaking hand drawn and water colored. Long ago and far away, during an enchanted time, there was an ancient and mystical jungle. And in this lovely jungle, lived three friends; the Toucan, the Tiger, and the Elephant. Now these three friends lived in this special jungle for a very long time in peace and tranquitlity, until one day came a menacing creature who had recently taken up residence in the Great Pond. The creature had large scary teeth, popped eyes and a ten foot long scaley tail.He was cruel and terrible, and terrorized the animals throughout the jungle. He did not deserve to inhabit the Great Pond, much less the mystical jungle itself! In this story, you shall be transported to a wonderful and exciting world filled with intrigue, strategy, and danger. In the end, new and exciting things will be discovered, and a supernatural phenomenon will occur. My wish is that your mind is consumed with the desire to reach for, and go to places that only books can take you. In your journey ( if you take the challenge to read my story) you will discover what the creature is, how the three friends plan to get rid of it, and if anything mystical and astonishing happens durring their great journey. I hope you enjoy reading this story as much as I have enjoyed telling it to my daughter. Thank you so much for traveling to this ancient jungle with me, it wouldn't be the same without you! Sincerely, Erin Kathleen MacKenzie
