Book The Electrostatic Potential Inside a Hemisphere

Download or read book The Electrostatic Potential Inside a Hemisphere written by A. R. Frederickson and published by . This book was released on 1971 with total page 58 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Dirichlet Green's function for the interior of a hemisphere has been found and an integral expression for the electrostatic potential is given. A computer program has been written to calculate the potential and plot equipotential lines for cases with azimuthal symmetry in internal charge distribution and surface potential. Graphs of phi are given for an evacuated hemispherical chamber where the walls are divided into three elements. This triode configuration can be used as a vacuum tube device or as a retarding potential analyzer. The use of the device as an energy analyzer is discussed and methods for calculating its spectral response are given. A particular model of the device has been successfully used to measure low-energy electron emission due to high energy radiation. (Author).

Book Observations Modeling and Systems Analysis in Geomagnetic Data Interpretation

Download or read book Observations Modeling and Systems Analysis in Geomagnetic Data Interpretation written by Alexei Gvishiani and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-09-17 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Geomagnetic field penetrates through all shells of the solid Earth, hydrosphere and atmosphere, spreading into space. The Earth Magnetic Field plays a key-role in major natural processes. Geomagnetic field variations in time and space provide important information about the state of the solid Earth, as well as the solar-terrestrial relationships and space weather conditions. The monograph presents a set of fundamental and, at the same time, urgent scientific problems of modern geomagnetic studies, as well as describes the results of the authors’ developments. The new technique introduced in the book can be applied far beyond the limits of Earth sciences. Requirements to corresponding data models are formulated. The conducted experimental investigations are combined with development and implementation of new methods of mathematical modeling, artificial intelligence, systems analysis and data science to solve the fundamental problems of geomagnetism. At that, formalism of Big Data and its application to Earth Sciences is presented as essential part of systems analysis. The book is intended for research scientists, tutors, students, postgraduate students and engineers working in geomagnetism and Earth sciences in general, as well as in other relevant scientific disciplines.

Book Modern Developments in Vacuum Electron Sources

Download or read book Modern Developments in Vacuum Electron Sources written by Georg Gaertner and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-10-09 with total page 609 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book gives an overview of modern cathodes and electron emitters for vacuum tubes and vacuum electron devices in general. It covers the latest developments in field emission theory as well as new methods towards improving thermionic and cold cathodes. It addresses thermionic cathodes, such as oxide cathodes, impregnated and scandate cathodes, as well as photocathodes and field emitters – the latter comprising carbon nanotubes, graphene and Spindt-type emitter arrays. Despite the rise and fall of the once dominant types of vacuum tubes, such as radio valves and cathode ray tubes, cathodes are continually being improved upon as new applications with increased demands arise, for example in electron beam lithography, high-power and high-frequency microwave tubes, terahertz imaging and electron sources for accelerators. Written by 17 experts in the field, the book presents the latest developments in cathodes needed for these applications, discussing the state of the art and addressing future trends.

Book Magnetospheric Current Systems

Download or read book Magnetospheric Current Systems written by Shin-ichi Ohtani and published by American Geophysical Union. This book was released on 2000-01-10 with total page 398 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Published by the American Geophysical Union as part of the Geophysical Monograph Series, Volume 118. The magnetosphere is an open system that interacts with the solar wind. In this system, solar wind energy continuously permeates different regions of the magnetosphere through electromagnetic processes, which we can well describe in terms of current systems. In fact, our ability to use various methods to study magnetospheric current systems has recently prompted significant progress in our understanding of the phenomenon. Unprecedented coverage of satellite and ground?]based observations has advanced global approaches to magnetospheric current systems, whereas advanced measurements of electromagnetic fields and particles have brought new insights about micro?]processes. Increased computer capabilities have enabled us to simulate the dynamics not only of the terrestrial magnetosphere but also the magnetospheres of other planets. Based on such developments, the present volume revisits outstanding issues about magnetospheric current systems.
