Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Advances in Molecular Spectroscopy, Volume 3 provides information pertinent to the fundamental aspects of inorganic molecules and complexes. This book covers a variety of topics, including infrared spectrum, polyatomic ions, infrared emissions, and Raman spectra. Organized into five parts encompassing 72 chapters, this volume begins with an overview of the infrared spectrum of pyridine. This text then examines the results from studies of the infrared and Raman spectra of N2O4 in the solid and liquid phases at low temperatures. Other chapters consider the infrared spectrum of a mixture of N2O3 and N2O4, which has been studied in the liquid phase from 2 to 25 μ and in the solid phase from 2 to 35 μ, both at low temperatures. The final chapter describes the instrument developed for the measurement of rotatory dispersion and discusses some of the results obtained in the study of the complexes. This book is a valuable resource for chemists.
Download or read book Organic Chemistry in Colour written by Paul Francis Gordon and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 333 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The foundations of the chemical dyestuffs industry were laid in 1856 when W. H. Perkin discovered the dye Mauveine. At approximately the same time modern chemistry was establishing itself as a major science. Thus, the chemistry of dyes became that branch of organic chemistry in which the early scientific theories were first used. This early eminence has now been largely lost. In fact, many of our academic and teaching institutions pay little attention to this vitally important branch of organic chemistry. We believe that this book will help to rectify this unfortunate situation. The majority of books that have been published on the subject of dyes have been technologically biased and, in our opinion, do not appeal to the mainstream organic chemist. We have, therefore, aimed at producing a book which emphasises the role of organic chemistry in dyestuffs and we have included appropriate modern theories, especially the modern molecular orbital approaches. We have assumed that the reader possesses a knowledge of the basic principles of organic chemistry;* the only other requirement is a general interest in organic chemistry.** The book should interest the newcomer to chemistry, the established academic, and the dyestuffs chemist himself.

Download or read book Phenolic Compounds in Food written by Leo M.L. Nollet and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-01-29 with total page 451 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Phenolic compounds, one of the most widely distributed groups of secondary metabolites in plants, have received a lot of attention in the last few years since the consumption of vegetables and beverages with a high level of such compounds may reduce risks of the development of several diseases. This is partially due to their antioxidant power since other interactions with cell functions have been discovered. What’s more, phenolic compounds are involved in many functions in plants, such as sensorial properties, structure, pollination, resistance to pests and predators, germination, processes of seed, development, and reproduction. Phenolic compounds can be classified in different ways, ranging from simple molecules to highly polymerized compounds. Phenolic Compounds in Food: Characterization and Analysis deals with all aspects of phenolic compounds in food. In five sections, the 21 chapters of this book address the classification and occurrence of phenolic compounds in nature and foodstuffs; discuss all major aspects of analysis of phenolic compounds in foods, such as extraction, clean-up, separation, and detection; detail specific analysis methods of a number of classes of phenolic compounds, from simple molecules to complex compounds; describe the antioxidant power of phenolic compounds; and discuss specific analysis methods in different foodstuffs.
