Book The Electron Theory of Magnetism Classic Reprint

Download or read book The Electron Theory of Magnetism Classic Reprint written by Elmer H. Williams and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-02-06 with total page 74 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Electron Theory of Magnetism The theory, worked out by Langevin for paramagnetic gases only, was later extended by Weiss to ferromagnetic substances. Weiss introduced a new notion into the theory of magnetism, viz., that of an intrinsic or molecular magnetic field by means of which he could account in a very beautiful way for the magnetic properties of the crystal pyrrhotite and many of the magnetic properties of iron, nickel, and cobalt. He has also contributed most essentially to our experimental knowledge of the ferromagnetic phenomena. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book The Electron Theory of Matter Classic Reprint

Download or read book The Electron Theory of Matter Classic Reprint written by Owen Willans Richardson and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-10-22 with total page 642 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Electron Theory of Matter His book is based on a course of lectures which I have delivered to graduate students at Princeton University during the last few years. My aim has been to exhibit the extent to which the fundamental facts of physical science may be coordinated by means of the conception of the electron and the laws of electrodynamics. In developing the subject I have started from the most elementary beginnings, and I have therefore found it necessary to include much matter which is to be found in any ordinary text-book of the theory of electricity and magnetism. It is hoped that the lack of conciseness thereby involved may be more than atoned for by the wider circle to which the book may appeal. The course of lectures at Princeton on which the book is founded proved useful as an introduction to the methods of modern mathematical physics in addition to forming a presentation of the results of recent physical discovery. The broad scope of the subject makes it imperative that a good deal of selection should be exercised as to the nature and treatment of the topics considered. In determining these, consideration has been given to importance, interest, and instructiveness, roughly in the order named. The necessary incompleteness is remedied to some extent by references to scientific papers and to other works. These references are intended to supplement the discussion in the text rather than to exhibit the historical development of the subject. Thus many important papers are not referred to. I have tried, however, to be as accurate as possible in any statements which deal specifically with historical matters. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Electron Theory: A Popular Introduction to the New Theory of Electricity and Magnetism In 1811 - nearly a hundred years ago - Avogadro promulgated the important law which bears his name, and which gives expression to the fact that all the more perfect gases, when reduced to the same pressure and temperature, will contain within a given volume the same number of gaseous molecules. The fact was established: but the reason why it is so was not then understood, nor till long afterwards, when in the forties and fifties of the last century some of the activities that go on within gases became gradually known. Until these later dates it was erroneously supposed, even by careful students of nature, that natural objects which to our senses appear at rest - such as stones, coins, books, air which has been left for a long time undisturbed within a room - are in reality devoid of any internal motion. Book Spin Fluctuation Theory of Itinerant Electron Magnetism

Download or read book Spin Fluctuation Theory of Itinerant Electron Magnetism written by Yoshinori Takahashi and published by Springer. This book was released on 2013-04-09 with total page 190 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume shows how collective magnetic excitations determine most of the magnetic properties of itinerant electron magnets. Previous theories were mainly restricted to the Curie-Weiss law temperature dependence of magnetic susceptibilities. Based on the spin amplitude conservation idea including the zero-point fluctuation amplitude, this book shows that the entire temperature and magnetic field dependence of magnetization curves, even in the ground state, is determined by the effect of spin fluctuations. It also shows that the theoretical consequences are largely in agreement with many experimental observations. The readers will therefore gain a new comprehensive perspective of their unified understanding of itinerant electron magnetism.
