Book Egyptian Book of the Dead and the Mysteries of Amenta

Download or read book Egyptian Book of the Dead and the Mysteries of Amenta written by Gerald Massey and published by Cosimo, Inc.. This book was released on 2008-01-01 with total page 58 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There is no death in the Osirian religion, only decay and change, and periodic renewal; only evolution and transformation in the domain of matter and the transubstantiation into spirit. In the so-called death of Osiris it is rebirth, not death, exactly the same as in the changes of external nature. At the close of the day the solar orb went down and left the sun god staring blankly in the dark of death. Taht the moon god met him in Amenta with the eye of Horus as the light the was to illuminate the darkness of the subterranean world. from Egyptian Book of the Dead and the Mysteries of Amenta It goes unappreciated by modern Egyptologists, but it is embraced by those who savor the concept of a hidden history of humanity, and those who approach all human knowledge from the perspective of the esoteric. Gerard Massey 's massive Ancient Egypt: The Light of the World first published in 1907 and the crowning achievement of the self-taught scholar redefines the roots of Christianity via Egypt, proposing that Egyptian mythology was the basis for Jewish and Christian beliefs. Here, Cosimo proudly presents Book 4 of Ancient Egypt, in which Massey discusses the Egyptian Book of the Dead as the pre-Christian word of God, and explores the idea that Amenta, the threshold to the Egyptian underworld, is the first overt expression of a human desire for a noncorporeal afterlife. Massey goes on to connect the mystery of the mummy to the mystery of the Christ by likening the Christian dogma of physical resurrection to the Egyptian impetus for mummification. Peculiar and profound, this work will intrigue and delight readers of history, religion, and mythology. British author GERALD MASSEY (1828 1907) published works of poetry, spiritualism, Shakespearean criticism, and theology, but his best-known works are in the realm of Egyptology, including A Book of the Beginnings and The Natural Genesis.

Book The Natural Genesis Two Volumes in One

Download or read book The Natural Genesis Two Volumes in One written by Gerald Massey and published by Cosimo, Inc.. This book was released on 2011-12-01 with total page 1108 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Egyptologist Gerald Massey challenged readers in A Book of the Beginnings to consider the argument that Egypt was the birthplace of civilization and that the widespread monotheistic vision of man and the metaphysical was, in fact, based on ancient Egyptian mythos. In The Natural Genesis, presented here in an omnibus edition, Massey delivers a sequel, delving deeper into his compelling polemic. In Volume I, he offers a more intellectual, fine-tuned analysis of the development of society out of Egypt. From the simplest signs (numbers, the cross) to the grandest archetypes (darkness, the mother figure), Massey carefully and confidently lays the cultural and psychosocial bricks of evolutionism. Volume II provides detailed discourse on the Egyptian origin of the delicate components of the monotheistic creed. With his agile prose, Massey leads an adventurous examination of the epistemology of astronomy, time, and Christology-and what it all means for human culture. British author GERALD MASSEY (1828-1907) published works of poetry, spiritualism, Shakespearean criticism, and theology, but his best known works are in the realm of Egyptology, including The Book of the Beginnings, The Natural Genesis, and Ancient Egypt: The Light of the World.

Book excerpt: This book reveals that much of Christianity and its beliefs had originated in ancient Egypt rather than the Middle East. The author presents us with how, where and why many spiritual Egyptian beliefs were adopted into Christian form and accepted as "history", as opposed to being carried over in their original mythological form. Kuhn states, "The gospels are not and never were histories. They are now proven to have been cryptic dramas of the spiritual evolution of humanity and of the history of the human soul in its earthly tabernacle of flesh." For Christianity to be expressed in the way it was first intended, as experienced during the first two centuries of its existence, one must first acknowledge its pagan roots. This is too much of a leap for most people, but they have not read this book. The author reveals how things were altered in the third century by the existing priesthood and why.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Element offers a new approach to ancient Egyptian images informed by interdisciplinary work in archaeology, anthropology, and art history. Sidestepping traditional perspectives on Egyptian art, the Element focuses squarely on the ontological status of the image in ancient thought and experience. To accomplish this, section 2 takes up a number of central Egyptian terms for images, showing that a close examination of their etymology and usage can help resolve long-standing question on Egyptian imaging practices. Section 3 discusses ancient Egyptian experiences of materials and manufacturing processes, while section 4 categorizes and discusses the different purposes and functions for which images were created. The Element as a whole thus offers a concise introduction to ancient Egyptian imaging practices for an interdisciplinary readership, while at the same introducing new ways of thinking about familiar material for the Egyptological reader.

Book Shadow of the Third Century

Download or read book Shadow of the Third Century written by Alvin Boyd Kuhn and published by Pickle Partners Publishing. This book was released on 2019-01-13 with total page 1048 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Shadow of the Third Century: A Revaluation of Christianity, first published in 1949, begins with the assertions that a true history of Christianity has never before been written and that the roots of the Christian religion lie in earlier religions and philosophies of the ancient world. The author, Alvin Boyd Kuhn, asserts that Christianity as we know it took the form it did due to a degeneration of knowledge rather than to an energization produced by a new release of light and truth into the world. In the ancient world, knowledge was commonly passed down by esoteric traditions, its inner meaning known only to the initiated. The Gospels, according to Kuhn, should therefore be understood as symbolic narratives rather than as history. Sacred scriptures are always written in a language of myth and symbol, and the Christian religion threw away and lost their true meaning when it mistranslated this language into alleged history instead of reading it as spiritual allegory. This literalism necessarily led to a religion antagonistic toward philosophy. Moreover, it produced a religion that failed to recognize its continuity with, and debt to, earlier esoteric schools. As evidence of this, Kuhn finds that many of the gospel stories and sayings have parallels in earlier works, in particular those of Egypt and Greece. The transformation of Jesus’ followers into Pauline Christians drew on these sources. Moreover, the misunderstanding of true Christianity led to the excesses of misguided asceticism. Overall, the book seeks to serve as a “clarion call to the modern world to return to the primitive Christianity which the founder of Christian theology, Augustine, proclaimed had been the true religion of all humanity.” With its many citations from earlier works, Shadow of the Third Century also serves as a bibliographic introduction to alternative histories of Christianity.

Book The Signs and Symbols of Primordial Man

Download or read book The Signs and Symbols of Primordial Man written by Albert Churchward and published by Pantianos Classics. This book was released on 1913 with total page 604 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Albert Churchward's famous study of Ancient Egyptian myths and symbology reveals how their mythological culture evolved over thousands of years, influencing other civilizations. The author was among the first Western scholars to investigate the connection between the religious symbols, deities and traditions of Egypt, and those which emerged in later societies. By studying the hieroglyphic texts preserved in the monuments and papyrus of the Egyptian society, Churchward uncovered the origins of legendary stories, the roles of Gods like Horus and Ptah, and the emergence of important symbols such as the triangle, cross and swastika. The religious and cultural influence of this ancient society, whose dynasties stretched across millennia, is revealed to be of staggering magnitude. This book pieces together the connections between Egyptian lore and that of the Hebrews, the Freemasons, the Mayans and various tribal societies. The depth of Churchward's enquiry is enormous; hundreds of drawings, symbols, and photographs accompany the narrative, that the reader may discover the myriad connections and wide-ranging influence of the Egyptians from antiquity onward. Frequent quotations and cites of accomplished workers in the field of Egyptology, such as Dr. Wallis Budge and Gerald Massey, further support the points established.

Book The Sign Language of Astronomical Mythology

Download or read book The Sign Language of Astronomical Mythology written by Gerald Massey and published by Cosimo, Inc.. This book was released on 2008-01-01 with total page 126 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The origin of a saviour in the guise of a little child is traceable to Child-Horus, who brought new life to Egypt every year as the Messu of the inundation. This was Horus in his pre-solar and pre-human characters of the fish, the shoot of the papyrus, or the branch of the endless years. In a later stage the image of Horus on his papyrus represented the young god as solar cause in creation. But in the primitive phase it was a soul of life or of food ascending from the water in vegetation, as he who climbs the stalk, ranging from Child-Horus to the Polynesian hero, and to Jack ascending heavenward by means of his bean-stalk. from The Sign Language of Astronomical Mythology It goes unappreciated by modern Egyptologists, but it is embraced by those who savor the concept of a hidden history of humanity, and those who approach all human knowledge from the perspective of the esoteric. Gerard Massey 's massive Ancient Egypt: The Light of the World first published in 1907 and the crowning achievement of the self-taught scholar redefines the roots of Christianity via Egypt, proposing that Egyptian mythology was the basis for Jewish and Christian beliefs. Here, Cosimo proudly presents the combined Books 5 and 6 of Ancient Egypt, in which Massey discusses the primeval, iconic representations that link the Earth and the heavens, and ties the oldest understandings of astronomy with the mythology of the creation of the universe and humanity. From the symbols and myths of water, drowning, and floods to those light and darkness, blindness and sight and many others Massey shows how that imagery plays out in the Egyptian zodiac, and in turn indelibly influenced modern religion.
