Download or read book The Effects of Two person Consultation and Group Consultation on Treatment Integrity and Behavioral Outcomes with Students with Emotional behavior Disabilities written by Mary Camp and published by . This book was released on 2011 with total page 558 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In response to trends in research and legislation, the implementation of evidence-based practices (EBP) has become an important issue in special education. The growing interest in EBP stems from the limited use of a growing base of rigorous scientific knowledge and practices in the field of special education (Tankersley, Landrum, & Cook, 2007). Thus, in response to these current trends and reforms in schools' endeavor to improve students' behavioral outcomes by implementing EBP with integrity, the number of consultation services rose.

Book Transporting an Evidence based Behavioral Intervention to Practice

Download or read book Transporting an Evidence based Behavioral Intervention to Practice written by and published by . This book was released on 2012 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The transportability of an evidence-based, behavioral intervention, the Good Behavior Game (GBG), was evaluated. This study compared the impact of two training methods: (a)Direct consultation and professional learning community on treatment integrity, (b) reduction in students' disruptive behavior, acceptability, and (c) contextual barriers of sustaining EBIs in practice settings. Sixteen teachers were recruited from the Sanger Unified School District in Central California and were randomly assigned by a masked analyst to a Direct Consultation or Professional Learning Community condition in a non-response guided multiple-baseline design. A total of 143 students and nine masters-level school psychologists also participated. Large positive intervention effects were observed. Statistical analysis of the between-group differences in treatment integrity, and acceptability yielded largely equivalent ratings. Findings related to contextual variables (e.g., time, cost, institutional support, adaptability) have implications for future research and adoption of the GBG.

Book Individual and Systemic Approaches to Collaboration and Consultation on Behalf of Students with Emotional behavioral Disorders

Download or read book Individual and Systemic Approaches to Collaboration and Consultation on Behalf of Students with Emotional behavioral Disorders written by Robert A. Gable and published by Council for Exceptional Children. This book was released on 1998 with total page 62 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph discusses using collaboration and consultation to teach children and youth with emotional and behavioral disorders (EBD) in the general education classroom. After an introductory chapter, Chapter 2, "Collaboration and Consultation: Promises and Limitations," compares collaboration and consultation as they relate to serving students with EBD. The characteristics of the population with EBD and teacher perspectives on the inclusion of students with EBD in general education classes are discussed, including their concerns about the efficacy of collaboration. Chapter 3, "The Role of Functional Assessment in Collaboration and Consultation," explores the emergent practice of functional assessment as an essential tool for effective consultation. The process of functional assessment and functional replacement training are described. Chapter 4, "Guidelines for Consultation," explores practical ways to apply functional assessment procedures in the collaborative consultation processes and describes four interrelated components (ecological factors, longitudinal programming, focused interventions, and reactive strategies) and associated interventions of effective behavioral plans. Chapter 5, "Systems-Level Collaborative Consultation," provides an overview of the procedures and processes that characterize positive behavior support for all students. The role of the special educator in achieving a collaborative and comprehensive systems-level approach to educating students with EBD is highlighted. (CR)

Book A Multi method Examination of Treatment Integrity in Conjoint Behavioral Consultation in Middle School

Download or read book A Multi method Examination of Treatment Integrity in Conjoint Behavioral Consultation in Middle School written by Phoebe Jordan and published by . This book was released on 2020 with total page 146 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There is a need to better understand treatment integrity in the context of behavioral interventions in adolescence delivered by natural treatment agents (parents and teachers). The present study examined factors related to treatment integrity of behavior support plans delivered by parents and teachers during the conjoint behavioral consultation intervention in middle school. Parents and teachers of eight students with or at risk for serious emotional disturbance who engaged in the CBC intervention were included from public middle schools in the Midwest. Prior to implementation of the behavior support plan, parents and teachers completed measures relating to stress, self-efficacy, outcome expectations, acceptability of the intervention, and student behavior, after which treatment integrity during the implementation period was monitored. Following participation in CBC, additional questions were asked of participants to examine factors related to adoption, implementation, and maintenance of the intervention. Negative correlations were identified between parenting stress and measures of implementation (adherence to the behavior support plan and days of implementation) and between teacher perceptions of student behavior severity and adherence to the behavior support plan. Narrative responses were transcribed and coded according to a qualitative phenomenological thematic approach. Parents and teachers identified barriers and facilitators to adoption, implementation, and maintenance consistent with those identified in previous research (Sanetti & Kratochwill, 2009). The proposed study has implications for treatment integrity of both parents and teachers participating in CBC as well as for family-school partnerships in middle school more broadly.

Book Conjoint Behavioral Consultation in School based Settings to Support the Implementation of Evidence based Practices

Download or read book Conjoint Behavioral Consultation in School based Settings to Support the Implementation of Evidence based Practices written by Megan Kaul and published by . This book was released on 2024 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present study examined the effects of a streamlined and virtual version of conjoint behavioral consultation (CBC) as implemented by trained school professionals (e.g., school psychologists, special education teachers). The effectiveness of CBC was examined using a multiple baseline across participants design among three students with or at risk for social-emotional and behavior challenges and demonstrating disruptive behavior problems at school. In addition to examination of student outcomes, the parent-teacher relationship, parent and teacher problem-solving competence, and CBC acceptability and feasible were evaluated. The extent to which CBC fit into existing multitiered systems in schools was also examined. Results indicated that two of three students demonstrated a decrease in disruptive behavior at school following implementation of co-developed evidence-based intervention plans. Although only one of three teachers reported improvements in the parent-teacher relationship, three of four parents reported improvements in the parent-teacher relationship. All parents and teachers reported improvements in their competence in problem solving. CBC was reported as acceptable according to parents, teachers, and consultants. Consultants perceived some elements of contextual fit as being well-aligned into existing multitiered systems in schools. Teachers reported that evidence-based intervention plans had moderate to strong contextual fit. Implications for CBC research, including considerations related to addressing barriers as well as scaling up CBC implementation in school-based settings are discussed.

Book Conjoint Behavioral Consultation for Students with Behavioral and Emotional Disorders a Single Case Study Design

Download or read book Conjoint Behavioral Consultation for Students with Behavioral and Emotional Disorders a Single Case Study Design written by Lori Annette Colaluca and published by . This book was released on 2020 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Students with an emotional or behavioral disturbance (E/BD) are often stereotyped due to the nature of their diagnosis. While in school, these students are often considered social outcasts, seen as a disruption in the regular education classroom, and fail multiple courses that can lead to dropout. Research proves that this population is at-risk for poor longitudinal outcomes that leads them to a life of crime. Conjoint Behavioral Consultation (CBC) can be used as an effective intervention tool that includes the teacher, parent, and student, and is a hopeful solution to the poor outcomes these students are subjected to. The purpose of this study was to examine whether CBC can increase the academic performance of students with an emotional or behavioral disturbance. The participant was a third-grade student in a small rural county in North Carolina, and the CBC involved her mother, her regular education teacher, her exceptional children's teacher, and her social skills teachers. The intervention was discontinued because the severity of the student's symptoms and behavioral outbursts subsequently led to a temporary hospitalization. Implications for future research will be discussed.

Book The Use of Performance Feedback to Improve Treatment Integrity and Student Behavior with a Class wide Behavior Intervention

Download or read book The Use of Performance Feedback to Improve Treatment Integrity and Student Behavior with a Class wide Behavior Intervention written by Diana Ginns Socie and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page 120 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Students with emotional disturbance (ED) who receive special education services in a public school setting fare significantly worse than other students; they are more likely to drop out of school and experience difficulties later in life than students who receive special education services under any other category. Research examining traditional attempts to provide staff with professional development to improve their ability to work successfully with these students has shown that these efforts typically produce unsuccessful outcomes. As a result, this study includes the development of a class-wide behavior intervention based on principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and the use of performance feedback to support the implementation of the intervention. Using a multiple baseline across classrooms design, the effects of performance feedback on the treatment integrity of the system, along with subsequent changes in student engagement and student disruptive behavior, were measured. Results indicated that the implementation of performance feedback was associated with increases in staff treatment integrity. Additionally, improvements in student academic engagement and reductions in disruptive behavior were observed. Limitations of the study, implications for practice, and directions for future research are discussed.
