Book The Effects of a Regular Plyometric Based Exercise Program on Aerobic Capacity of Elementary School Students

Download or read book The Effects of a Regular Plyometric Based Exercise Program on Aerobic Capacity of Elementary School Students written by Jim Park and published by . This book was released on 2009 with total page 108 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of the study was to determine if the use of a regular plyometric exercise program would result in imporved aerobic fitness in elementary students. The study was conducted over a9-week period during the fall semester of the 2009-2010 school year. One Grade 5 class was used as the comparison group and another Grade 5 class received the treatment. Sixteen students were chosen from each class to form comparable groups, with each group consisting of 16 subjects, 9 male, 7 female. The timed mile run and pacer test from Fitnessgram fitness testing was used to determine aerobic capacity. Subjects received a pretest and posttest to measure growth in fitness improvement. Subjects received a pretest and posttest to measure growth in fitness improvement. SUbjects received the plyometric exercise program during their physical education class. They attended physical education every third school day. They plyometric exercies progressed from low intensity to moderate. The subjects who received the treatment of plyometric exercises showed more growth in aerobic capacity when comareing Pacer Test results. The results of this study indicate the possibility of growth in aerobic capacity for elementary students who are engaged in a regular plyometric exercise program.

Book Plyometric Training An Impact on Young Cricketers

Download or read book Plyometric Training An Impact on Young Cricketers written by Amandeep Singh and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2014-07-07 with total page 80 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Plyometric training, when used with a periodized strength-training program, can contribute to improvements in vertical jump performance, acceleration, leg strength, muscular power, increased joint awareness, and overall proprioception. Plyometric drills usually involve stopping, starting, and changing directions in an explosive manner. These movements can assist in the development of agility, speed, aerobic capacity and explosive strength. Several studies have been confirmed the role of elastic energy in human movements. Today, Plyometric training is often used by coaches in many exercise programs as stated, because of the special features of sports such as weight drop and sprint running, the power factor, is of great importance. Hence, it is useful to evaluate its components. Although Plyometric training has been shown to increase performance variables, little scientific information is available to determine if plyometric training actually enhances agility, speed, aerobic capacity and explosive strength. Plyometric is a natural part of most of the movements, evidenced knee injuries, and running economy.

Book The Effects of a Running Program of Fifth Grad Aerobic Capacity

Download or read book The Effects of a Running Program of Fifth Grad Aerobic Capacity written by Curtiss Pakkebier and published by . This book was released on 2009 with total page 94 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this study was to answer the question, what effect will the use of a running program have on fifth grade aerobic capacity? This study utilized a quasiexperimental, pretest-posttest comparison ground design. A fitnessgram pacer test was given to 124 fifth grade students at the start of the school year. An eight week running program was offered to all fifth grade students at the start of the school year. An eight week running program was offered to all fifth grade students. Six students who completed the eight week running program and had a similar pretest core, were compared to six students who did not participate in the running program on a fitnessgram pacer posttest. Results indicated a greater rate of improvement in aerobic capacity for students who participate in the running program.

Book A Comparison of Plyometric Training on Power Benefits Body Composition and Enjoyment

Download or read book A Comparison of Plyometric Training on Power Benefits Body Composition and Enjoyment written by Landon Paul Jackson and published by . This book was released on 2021 with total page 65 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Plyometrics has shown significant improvements for explosive power, strength, and body composition. Purpose. The purpose of this research study was to examine the effects on power in a land plyometric exercise program. It is important to note the issues for different effects on power when performing plyometrics in a periodized program in comparison to not participating in one. Methods. The study had 13 participants (10 males: 23.44.01 years, 3 females: 21.332.52 years), which were randomly selected to land plyometric training (LPT; n=6; 5 males, 1 female) or a CG (n=7; 5 males, 2 females). The study consisted of a pre-test, 8-week intervention, and a post-test the 10th week. Participant's vertical jump height (VJH), hang time, body composition, and physical activity enjoyment scores were recorded. A repeated measures ANOVA was utilized to determine between and within groups differences and Cohen's d was used to calculate effect sizes. The current study researched quantitative data to find statistical evidence for VJH. This study outperformed previous research in VJH with similar age groups, while younger participants in previous research outperformed the LPT group. Results. A significant effect over time was found for all groups in VJH (p= .045). LPT increased their VJH by a mean of 1.2 in (7.06%) and CG by 0.4 in (1.88%). Hang time also increased significantly over time among both groups (p= .032). LPT slightly decreased body fat percentage with a small negative d = .04, but this data was not significant (p= .080). Conclusion. The current study provides significant evidence for LPT being an effective method for increasing VJH over time but found no significance for time and group interactions. It should be noted the researcher could not control exercise participation outside of the research study, which could have confounded results. The fitness levels and age can also have an impact on increasing VJH. Future research should seek different training environments, increased sample size, and length of study.

Book The Impact of Plyometrics on Presidential Physical Fitness Standards Test Scores

Download or read book The Impact of Plyometrics on Presidential Physical Fitness Standards Test Scores written by Amanda Ray and published by . This book was released on 2010 with total page 148 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The focus of this study was to determine the impact of plyometric exercises on the Presidential Physical Fitness Standards Test. The treatment group consisted of a class of 27 sixth grad students at Oak Ridge Middle School. The results recorded reflect a population of 23 of those students. A quasi-experimental group design was used. Subjects were engaged in a nine-week three-day rotation of plyometric exercises, ranging from low-to-moderate intensity. At the beginning of each class, 10 minutes were used for demonstrating and performing the plyometric exercises. The subjects were assessed using the Presidential Physical Fitness Standards pretest, and after the treatment period concluded, the subjects took the same Presidential Physical Fitness Standards Test as a posttest. Heart Rate Monitors were worn as a way of measuring the number of heart beats during physical activity. Results were recorded on individual Physical Fitness Test worksheets. The posttest scores were also compared to the posttest scores of a comparison class not participating in the treatment. Teacher anecdotal notes were kept to record observations on student behaviors, actions, participation, and any other factors that may have influenced the results of the study. Samples of six students from the treatment group were randomly chosen for closer observation. The results of the study indicated there was a positive impact on the Presidential Physical Fitness Standard Test results. Further research is needed for more complete results.
