Download or read book Noise in Digital Magnetic Recording written by T. C. Arnoldussen and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1992 with total page 292 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book treats the various aspects of noise from magnetic recording media and the impact on system performance. Several authors present discussions of: materials and processes used to fabricate media for computer data storage, theoretical aspects of noise and micromagnetic behavior, experimental methods and characterization, and system analysis. In the past decade thin film recording media have largely displaced particlate media in rigid disk recording systems. During the same period of time the field has evolved from the prevalent belief that thin film media were virtually noiseless to a detailed understanding of the origin and the manifestation of noise in these new media. This understanding has lead to the ability to make the very low noise media needed in present applications. The present state of understanding of both particulate and thin film media is summarized.

Download or read book Materials Science in Microelectronics II written by Eugene Machlin and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2010-07-07 with total page 268 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The subject matter of thin-films – which play a key role in microelectronics – divides naturally into two headings: the processing / structure relationship, and the structure / properties relationship. Part II of 'Materials Science in Microelectronics' focuses on the latter of these relationships, examining the effect of structure on the following: •Electrical properties•Magnetic properties•Optical properties•Mechanical properties•Mass transport properties•Interface and junction properties•Defects and properties - Captures the importance of thin films to microelectronic development - Examines the cause / effect relationship of structure on thin film properties

Download or read book Perpendicular Magnetic Recording written by Sakhrat Khizroev and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-01-16 with total page 183 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Magnetic recording is expected to become core technology in a multi-billion dollar industry in the in the very near future. Some of the most critical discoveries regarding perpendicular write and playback heads and perpendicular media were made only during the last several years as a result of extensive and intensive research in both academia and industry in their fierce race to extend the superparamagnetic limit in the magnetic recording media. These discoveries appear to be critical for implementing perpendicular magnetic recording into an actual disk drive. This book addresses all the open questions and issues which need to be resolved before perpendicular recording can finally be implemented successfully, and is the first monograph in many years to address this subject. This book is intended for graduate students, young engineers and even senior and more experienced researchers in this field who need to acquire adequate knowledge of the physics of perpendicular magnetic recording in order to further develop the field of perpendicular recording.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the first book about functional nanostructures. Nanocrystalline materials exhibit outstanding properties and represent a new class of structural materials having a wide range of applications. In particular, there is considerable interest in developing nanocrystalline materials to be used as functional materials in aerospace applications, automotive industry, wear applications, etc. Future progress in these high technological applications of nanocrystalline materials depends on development of new methods of their fabrication and understanding of the underlying nano-scale and interface effects causing their unique mechanical properties.

Download or read book Handbook of Magnetism and Advanced Magnetic Materials 5 Volume Set written by Helmut Kronmüller and published by Wiley-Interscience. This book was released on 2007-09-11 with total page 754 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the first application of the oxide magnetite as a compass in China in ancient times, and from the early middle ages in Europe, magnetic materials have become an indispensable part of our daily life. Magnetic materials are used ubiquitously in the modern world, in fields as diverse as, for example, electrical energy transport, high-power electro-motors and generators, telecommunication systems, navigation equipment, aviation and space operations, micromechanical automation, medicine, magnetocaloric refrigeration, computer science, high density recording, non-destructive testing of materials, and in many household applications. Research in many of these areas continues apace. The progress made in recent years in computational sciences and advanced material preparation techniques has dramatically improved our knowledge of fundamental properties and increased our ability to produce materials with highly-tailored magnetic properties, even down to the nanoscale dimension. Containing approximately 120 chapters written and edited by acknowledged world leaders in the field, The Handbook of Magnetism and Advanced Magnetic Materials provides a state-of-the-art, comprehensive overview of our current understanding of the fundamental properties of magnetically ordered materials, and their use in a wide range of sophisticated applications. The Handbook is published in five themed volumes, as follows: Volume 1- Fundamentals and Theory Volume 2- Micromagnetism Volume 3- Novel Techniques for Characterizing and Preparing Samples Volume 4- Novel Materials Volume 5- Spintronics and Magnetoelectronics
