Book Scouring Baling and Transporting Western Wools

Download or read book Scouring Baling and Transporting Western Wools written by Amos D. Jones and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-08-09 with total page 134 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Scouring, Baling, and Transporting Western Wools: Practices, Problems, Possibilities Topmakers and worsted manufacturers now utilize, at least to some extent, the limited wool scouring facilities in the producing areas. These developments tend to support industry research which indicates that long shipments Of scoured baled wool do not significantly increase fiber breakage during subsequent carding and combing Operations, thus decreasing the proportion Of top Obtained Along with this, woolen manufacturing which does not require combing has become more important. The location of the wool processing industry is changing. The woolen and worsted industries have tended to move Out of New England but have been slow in bringing their scouring Operations with them. The purpose Of this study is to determine and evaluate the more important factors relating to wool scouring and baling in the producing areas, particularly the West, and to appraise the possibilities of reducing transportation and other marketing costs. To accomplish this necessitates (a) determining the major wool production areas and the quality and quantity of wool produced, (b) considering present and probable future locations Of woolen and worsted manufacturers, (c) developing cost information on baling and scouring Operations, (d) considering the response of the woolen and worsted industry to wool scoured and/or baled in producing areas, (e) developing methodology to estimate potential transportation benefits, and (f) evaluating the net effect of these factors. Book Textile Processing and Properties

Download or read book Textile Processing and Properties written by T.L. Vigo and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 498 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The type and amount of textile products have greatly proliferated over the last decade. Concomitant textile processing to improve the properties and ultimate performance has also undergone dramatic changes. Ready availability of instrumentation, computers, lasers and integration of these advances with similar progress in polymer/material science have led to the need for a unified discussion on these topics. The current book concisely discusses all aspects of textile processing, modification and performance for four major topics: preparation (by fiber type), dyeing and printing (dye type, theory and synthesis; dye classification by structure and application), improving functional and aesthetic textile properties (physical, chemical and physicochemical processes and concepts), and performance (chemical analysis, instrumental methods; physical, chemical, biological, multiple influences and standard tests). A detailed and logical progression from the initial purification of textiles to their performance and care is described. The book will be useful as a text for textile/polymer courses at undergraduate and graduate levels and as a comprehensive source of information for textile scientists, engineers, manufacturers, retailers and others with an interest in textile products.
