Book excerpt: Nathan Archer is a Professor of Medieval Studies at the University of Chicago, and a forensic historian who believes that Leonardo Da Vinci created a perfect copy of the Sindon, the burial cloth of Christ known as the Shroud of Turin. Citing an unpaid commission by the House of Savoy to paint a replica, he searches for proof that the renaissance master employed techniques that took four centuries to discover the faded image of the crucified Jesus.Divorced by his wife and ridiculed by his peers for what many feel does not take into account its biblical timeline, Archer travels with Sindonologist Amanda Wilkes across Europe at the request of a stranger who insists that he can help them solve the riddle of the Holy Grail, and the fate of the last Knights Templar. What they discovered at the ruins of the Temple of Solomon is bound up with the flight of Joseph of Arimathea from Jerusalem. Everywhere they turn, colleagues are dying or revealing themselves to be something other than what they truly are. No one is to be trusted, as Archer and Wilkes are accused of crimes committed just before or after they find another clue. Others pursuing them will stop at nothing to fulfill biblical prophecy, and bring about the end of the world. The only way the two experts can stop them is to discover the truth about its origins, and prevent its theft.

Download or read book Skyfall Angels of Destiny written by Zen Garcia and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2018-08-25 with total page 378 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I believe that the world is being forced into a place where all must reassess all they thought they knew and understood about life and why we are here. My efforts are to guide others seeking such answers, and assist those whom feel in their hearts that there is indeed something greater to the design of life and our reasons for being here in the flesh and at this time. It is my opinion that knowledge that we have pre-existed and have been predestined for a higher purpose by the Father and Son since even before the foundations of this world, is the key which can help one to realize that indeed there is significance and a meaningful reason to the unfolding of all things and our part within them.

Download or read book Sons Of God written by Zen Garcia and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2018-08-27 with total page 381 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What do the fallen angels have to do with the powers, principalities, ancient aliens, and the "strong delusion" referenced by Paul in Thessalonians 2:10? The lie that leads to damnation concerns the current perpetuation of the ancient alien myth, which claims that the Annunaki and Nephilim are the creators and benefactors of humanity. Those whom accept this premise will unwittingly volunteer their allegiance to the fallen angels. Unless one understands who the fallen angels were, are, and how they were responsible for the introduction of evil upon the world stage, one might also be caught up in the lie that causes the hearts of men to fail, and the most elect to be deceived. In Sons of God, Garcia seeks to help readers recognize the realities of our ancient past so that, in remembering the story, they can realize who they are and why they are they here.
Download or read book God written by C. DeSalvo and published by GOD?. This book was released on 2004 with total page 321 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This 270-page, paperback book honestly and dispassionately reviews life's most important question. Unlike every other book known to the author, this book considers ALL MAJOR EVIDENCE AND ARGUMENTS, FOR AND AGAINST GOD. It reviews evidence from history, literature, philosophy, religious documents, cosmology, cellular and molecular biology, embryology, genetics, morphology (structure of organisms), phylogeny (evolution), physics, archeology and other subjects. And it does that in clear, simple English without preaching. It examines clues to design by God discovered by science in the creation and operation of the universe, the earth, all life and natural death. It considers tough subjects including miracles, Original Sin, the Trinity, Gods origin and Gods characteristics, plus many other related and vital issues. Finally, it summarizes for the lay-person, those aspects of quantum mechanics, general and special relativity and other sciences that are of particular importance regarding the question of God.Have you been too lazy, or think youre too uneducated, to thoroughly research and study the truth about God? Do you want to avoid ranting, raving and sermons? Do you want just the honest facts laid out clearly and simply? Or do you already lean towards God, but your belief doesnt have a solid scientific foundation? Perhaps you havent the knowledge to defend your beliefs against strong arguments that atheists throw in your face. This book probably explains enough for you to make a decision, to get a good start in your own investigation, to build a strong foundation under your weak beliefs, or to provide you with intellectual ammunition to defend your beliefs. In case the above comments havent made it crystal clear, this books answer to that pesky question: Does God exist? -- is a powerfully-documented Yes.
Download or read book Unlocking the Secrets of the Shroud written by Gilbert R. Lavoie and published by Dog Ear Publishing. This book was released on 2016-02-29 with total page 228 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of the first books written in the U.S. since 1988 that presents the Shroud of Turin as the authentic burial cloth of Jesus of Nazareth. The author, a medical doctor, takes us on a scientific and scriptural search (with more than 70 revealing photographs) that allows us to decide for ourselves whether the ancient cloth has any meaning for us today. A companion video that traces the story of the shroud from Turin to Jerusalem is also available. In 1961, while poking around in a used bookstore in Boston, Lavoie stumbled across a paperback called A Doctor at Calvary, by French surgeon Pierre Barbet. As Lavoie thumbed through the pages, he discovered that Barbet was writing not about Jesus' crucifixion but about the Shroud of Turin, a piece of cloth that contained the bloody image of a naked man. Thus began Lavoie's 30-year quest to uncover the true origins of the Shroud and to reveal its mysteries. In this well-told scientific and theological detective story, Lavoie offers a step-by-step account of his attempts to prove that the Shroud of Turin could well have been the shroud that covered Jesus as he was taken from his cross to his tomb. In order to show that the marks on the cloth are indeed blood stains, Lavoie discusses the nature of blood as it clots, especially when those clots are covered with cloth. Through various experiments, he is able to conclude: "blood clots transfer to cloth as mirror images of themselves; the neatness of the transfers is related to the fact that the man of the shroud died in the vertical position; the time the clots take to transfer to cloth coincide closely with the gospel timetable of the death and burial of Jesus." Lavoie is on his firmest footing when he sticks to his scientific theories, but when he begins to argue in the final chapters that John's gospel and letters indicate that John possessed the shroud and was hiding it from his audience, he treads shakier speculative ground.
Download or read book To Unite the Scattered Children of God written by Stephen Finlan and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2022-11-07 with total page 161 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To Unite the Scattered Children of God is an accessible exploration of hope for the spiritual uniting of humankind, in worship and in other ways, from Isaiah on down to present times. Several prophets shared this hope: “Many nations shall join themselves to the Lord on that day, and shall be my people” (Zech 2:11). To an even greater degree, Jesus set in motion a universalizing power. Jesus and Paul inspired hope for the uniting of Jews, Samaritans, and Gentiles into “one fold,” in the “unity of the faith.” The book also builds upon the work of Teilhard de Chardin regarding the convergence of the human race under the spiritual influence of Christ, the omega point of evolution. Insights from pneumatology, process theology, personalism, interfaith discussions, and world peace advocacy add to the discussion.

Download or read book Real Life X Files written by Joe Nickell and published by University Press of Kentucky. This book was released on 2001-10-24 with total page 401 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “Excellent background research . . . on-site investigations of mysteries ranging from crop circles and lake monsters to spiritualist mediums and stigmata.” —Booklist As a former private investigator and forensic writer, Joe Nickell has spent much of his career identifying forged documents, working undercover to infiltrate theft rings, and investigating questioned deaths. Now he turns his considerable investigative skill toward the paranormal, researching the most well-known and mysterious phenomena all over the world—spontaneous human combustion, UFO visitations, auras, electronic poltergeists, and many, many more—with an eye toward solving these mysteries rather than promoting or dismissing them. Real-Life X-Files: Investigating the Paranormal examines the cases of over forty paranormal mysteries. Using a hands-on approach, Nickell visits the scene of the so-called unexplainable activity whenever possible and attempts to physically duplicate the miraculous. Whether he’s inflicting stigmata on himself or recreating the liquefying blood of Saint Januarius, Nickell does whatever necessary to eliminate the probable before considering the supernatural. What is left is that much more fascinating. Nickell reports on familiar legends from American history such as the supernatural events surrounding Abraham Lincoln’s death and the supposed crash landing of an alien spacecraft near Roswell, New Mexico. He closely examines claims of the miraculous, from rose petals bearing the likeness of Jesus to photographs of a “golden door” to heaven. Controversial mysteries such as clairvoyance and “spirit painting,” haunted places, and freaks of nature are just a few of the many topics covered. Suspenseful, engrossing, funny, and grounded in scientific methodology, Real-Life X-Files provides real explanations for the “paranormal” activities that have intrigued human beings for centuries.
Download or read book Perspectives on the Age of the Earth and Why They Matter written by Francis Ö. Dudás and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2020-02-13 with total page 579 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Polls show almost half of US adults believe that Earth is only 10,000 years old, whereas scientists consider our planet to be 4.56 billion years old. Examining these conflicting views illuminates aspects of the perceived conflict between religion and science, and helps us understand the battles between “evolutionist” and “creationist” advocates. This book examines how we approach knowledge, and how we look at certainty. It disentangles the threads of the traditional knowledge we are taught from the knowledge we gain from our own investigation of truth. It argues that nature, the basis of science, and scripture, the basis of religion, derive from a single source. Because of their shared origins, religious and scientific perspectives grounded in verifiable truths must be in harmony. The book presents the science behind the reliability of isotopic dates, and critiques young-earth creationist attacks on isotopic studies. Though the nature of time is a philosophical issue, its measurement is a scientific venture that has affirmed that Earth is 4.56 billion years old. The harmony of science and religion, based on recognition of their single source, is a prerequisite for the progress of humanity as a whole.
