Book WHEN THE EARTH VOMITS OUT ITS INHABITANTS

Download or read book WHEN THE EARTH VOMITS OUT ITS INHABITANTS written by Victor Abassah and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2012 with total page 51 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The title of this book is derived from the book of Leviticus, chapter 18 vs 24 & 25: Defile not ye yourselves in any of these things: for in all these the nations are defiled which I cast out before you: and the land is defiled: therefore I do visit the iniquity thereof upon it, and the land itself vomiteth our her inhabitants . Good readers of the Bible will notice that some expressions used in scripture would require spiritual interpretation before the message God is relaying through such expressions can be properly understood. The above scripture quoted from the book of Leviticus was talking about certain sins which the original inhabitants of the land of Canaan were committing for which they were being vomited out. In that same chapter 18, in the earlier verses before verse 24, these sins were listed. They ranged from all manner sexual sins to sins of idolatry and witchcraft. These sins will be examined in detail in subsequent chapters. The simple interpretation of the above scripture is this: The sins of the people defile the land, and God therefore punishes the land for their sins. But then the land refuses the punishment and therefore vomits out the perpetrators of such sins. There are so many strange things happening in our world today that are defying human explanations. Some of these we will be looking at in the light of the above quoted scripture. One thing about the word of God is that it never grows old and neither does it expire. The effect the word had in Biblical times is the same as today. Humanity has grown so much in terms of technological advancement that God and His word are becoming more and more unreal in their eyes. This book will attempt to offer explanations to why disasters happen in certain areas and in people s lives based on that statement in Leviticus 18 about the earth vomiting out a people from an area.

Book The History of Creation

Download or read book The History of Creation written by Ernst Haeckel and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2019-02-21 with total page 556 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Originally published in 1899, The History of Creation was the first book of its kind to apply a doctrine to the whole range of organic morphology and make use of the effect Darwin had on biological sciences during the 19th century. Haeckel looks at Darwin’s reform of Descent Theory and its establishment through the doctrine of selection. He introduces Descent Theory into the systematic classification of animals and plants and finds a "natural system" on the basis of genealogy - that is, to construct hypothetical pedigrees for the various species of organisms. The book will be of interest to those studying natural history and the origins of modern scientific thought, it will appeal to researchers both in the natural sciences and in history.

Book excerpt: Take a deep breath and dive into the mysteries of the ocean. Our understanding of ocean life has changed dramatically in the last decade, with new species, new behaviours, and new habitats being discovered at a rapid rate. Blue Planet II, which accompanies an epic 7-part series on BBC1, is a ground-breaking new look at the richness and variety of underwater life across our planet. From ambush hunters such as the carnivorous bobbit worm to cuttlefish mesmerising their prey with a pulsating light display, Blue Planet II reveals the never-before-seen secrets of the ocean. With over 200 breath-taking photographs and stills from the BBC Natural History Unit's spectacular footage, each chapter of Blue Planet II brings to life a different habitat of the oceanic world. Voyages of migration show how each of the oceans on our planet are connected; coral reefs and arctic ice communities are revealed as thriving underwater cities; while shorelines throw up continual challenges to those living there or passing through. A final chapter explores the science and technology of the Ocean enterprise – not only how they were able to capture these amazing stories on film, but what the future holds for marine life based on these discoveries.

Book Staying with the Trouble

Download or read book Staying with the Trouble written by Donna J. Haraway and published by Duke University Press. This book was released on 2016-08-19 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the midst of spiraling ecological devastation, multispecies feminist theorist Donna J. Haraway offers provocative new ways to reconfigure our relations to the earth and all its inhabitants. She eschews referring to our current epoch as the Anthropocene, preferring to conceptualize it as what she calls the Chthulucene, as it more aptly and fully describes our epoch as one in which the human and nonhuman are inextricably linked in tentacular practices. The Chthulucene, Haraway explains, requires sym-poiesis, or making-with, rather than auto-poiesis, or self-making. Learning to stay with the trouble of living and dying together on a damaged earth will prove more conducive to the kind of thinking that would provide the means to building more livable futures. Theoretically and methodologically driven by the signifier SF—string figures, science fact, science fiction, speculative feminism, speculative fabulation, so far—Staying with the Trouble further cements Haraway's reputation as one of the most daring and original thinkers of our time.
