Yet Sara, a plain young Jewish slave with lovely large brown eyes who has become a Christian, is filled with far more peace than her wealthy mistress Diana. In Diana, though, Sara sees a spark of faith that could be fanned into a flame. And in Diana's strikingly handsome brother, Antonius, a Tribune of Rome, she sees a man at the pinnacle of power, searching for something more. Against the tableau of the twilight of the Roman Empire-soon to be torched by the mad Nero-is a love story that transcends time. Fall in love with this inspiring love story and our entire collection of Christian romance novels from Heartsong Presents!

Book Eagle and Lamb

Download or read book Eagle and Lamb written by Noel J. Kentish and published by . This book was released on 2017-06-30 with total page 484 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Leonard Kentish. aged 35, was the only Australian captured by enemy forces in Australia during World War 2. In January 1943 he was travelling on a naval supply vessel in North Australia when it was bombed by a Japanese floatplane. The pilot, believing his superiors wanted information, landed on the ocean and captured Kentish. Why only one prisoner? Why him?Within his story is that of his wife, Violet, and their son and two daughters. It describes her courageous struggle as a sole parent to raise their children during her three-year quest to find him and an account of the War Crimes tribunal that brought three criminals face to face with the consequences of their action.Written by his son, drawing from family records and public sources, Eagle and Lamb combines personal memoir, history and biography.¿Noel Kentish¿s book tells a powerful story, one of faith and love overshadowed, though not extinguished, by acts of bastardry almost unique in the Australian experience of war ¿ it would be fitting if one day Len Kentish¿s name, and those of his fellow civilians who died in the Pacific war, could be acknowledged in the national memorial to Australia¿s war dead.¿Prof. Peter Stanley, UNSW Canberra

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Eagles have fascinated humans for millennia. For some, the glimpse of a distant eagle instantly becomes a treasured lifelong memory. Others may never encounter a wild eagle in their lifetime. This book was written by people who have dedicated years to the study of eagles, to provide an insider's view for all readers, but especially those who have never been up close and personal with these magnificent yet often misunderstood creatures. In their stories, twenty-nine leading eagle researchers share their remarkable field experiences, providing personal narratives that don't feature in their scientific publications. They tell of their fear at being stalked by grizzly bears, their surprise at being followed by the secret police, their embarrassment when accidentally firing mortar rockets over a school gymnasium, and their sense of awe at tracking eagles via satellite. The reader experiences the cultural shock of being guest of honor at a circumcision ceremony, the absurdity of sharing an aquatic car with the Khmer Rouge, and the sense of foreboding at being press-ganged into a frenzied tribal death march through the jungle. The Eagle Watchers covers twenty-four species on six continents, from well known (bald eagle; golden eagle), to obscure (black-and-chestnut eagle; New Guinea harpy eagle), and from common (African fish eagle) to critically endangered (Philippine eagle; Madagascar fish eagle). The diverse experiences vividly described in this book reveal the passion, dedication, and sense of adventure shared by those who study these majestic birds and strive for their conservation. Featuring stunning color photographs of the eagles, information on raptor conservation, a global list of all eagle species with ranges and conservation status, and a color map of the sites visited in the book, The Eagle Watchers will appeal to birders, conservationists, and adventure travelers alike. To further support the conservation programs described in this book, all royalties are being donated to two leading nonprofit organizations for raptor conservation training and fieldwork: Hawk Mountain Sanctuary Intern Program and the National Birds of Prey Trust.

Book All Power to the Lamb

Download or read book All Power to the Lamb written by James R. Johnson and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2010-12 with total page 600 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Book Summary If you were God, writing a book you wanted men to understand, would you write it in such a way that men would have to make up meaning in order to understand it, or would you write it in such a way that those that seek to understand could actually come to a knowledge of its truth (Mt 7:7)? The present commentary takes the position that God wrote Revelation in such a way that with sufficient effort and intellectual honesty, readers can understand it. Certainly there are symbols in Revelation, but when God does use symbols, He provides inspired interpretations of the symbols. This commentary seeks to avoid the mistakes of the views that use the symbolical approach to Revelation (preterist, continuous historical, spiritualist, and idealist). These approaches suffer from two basic flaws: assuming the text is symbolical when it is not and making up meaning regarding the text based on stream of consciousness word association, much as one would do looking at Rorschach inkblots. This commentary seeks to avoid telling God what He should have said and strives to understand what God actually meant. Of all the approaches to understanding Revelation, this commentary is most closely aligned with the dispensationalist (premillennialist) view in that it views Revelation from a literalist, futurist perspective. It is different from the typical dispensationalist schema in that it views the seven seals as the powers of the Lamb, understands the exercise of the powers of the seven seals to be simultaneous processes, and casts chapters 8-22 as three parallel prophecies of the Lamb's power over the course of the histories of Israel, the nations, and the saints. This commentary also makes use of many of the non-canonical works that provide insight into the spirit world and detail regarding the end of the present age.
