Book Standards Based Technology and Engineering Education

Download or read book Standards Based Technology and Engineering Education written by Scott R. Bartholomew and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-12-03 with total page 319 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book brings together authors from around the world to discuss the Standards for Technological and Engineering Literacy: The Role of Technology and Engineering in STEM Education (STEL) released in July 2020 by the International Technology and Engineering Educators Association (ITEEA). The various chapters examine and elaborate on how educators must understand the structure of the standards used and their alignment with educational programs at specific levels and contexts, both in the context of the USA, and internationally. It also showcases case studies analyzing the use of standards in their various contexts from a number of countries which have either adapted STEL, or which have national Standards in Technology Education. The STEL represents a major update to the content standards that has guided the field of technology education (and, later, technology and engineering education) in the USA since 2000. In contrast to previous standards, STEL presents a substantial reduction in the number of standards and associated benchmarks, and the benchmarks have been operationalized to identify the key knowledge, skills, and dispositions associated with each standard. It also emphasizes a focus on core standards that should allow for deeper levels of understanding and engagement on the part of students, who in comprehensive educational programs will continue to revisit these core standards in increasingly sophisticated ways as they progress from Pre-K through Grade 12.

Book Creative Educational Leadership

Download or read book Creative Educational Leadership written by Jacquie Turnbull and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2012-09-27 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Creativity is now essential in a global economy, for business, and for the benefit of society. To enable young people to flourish in an uncertain future, education needs to acknowledge creativity as an essential life skill rather than restricting it to activities of a broadly artistic nature. This book helps educational leaders to identify the tensions within education systems that hinder the development of creative capacity and may influence decision-making towards pragmatic rather than creative solutions. In order to develop creative capacity, leadership itself needs to be a creative action to resolve limitations, and to develop original solutions to the challenge of educating for work and life in the twenty-first century. Recognising the vital importance of creativity to young people facing a rapidly changing world, Jacquie Turnbull reveals how, in highly effective leadership, a unique combination of values, relationships and personal attributes enables creativity. Packed with examples of successful practice, the book challenges you to build creative capacity - within staff teams and for young people - and to develop as a creative leader yourself.
