Book excerpt: This book titled "The Dreamer" is a successful attempt to study the evolution of dreams, its origin, its impact on human psyche and its detrimental effect on Dreamer's future course of life. The Dreams have been analysed by Messenger-Prophets of Almighty The-God, by Messengers' companions, scholars and many intellectuals in religious and non-religious communities until the present times. The process of Dream Delineation is very important and it would continue to amaze people who wish to reap the benefits from the correct Dreams. Such individuals would be ahead of many of their compatriots in materialism and spirituality. In this book "The Dreamer" the envisioned dreams have been categorised in different chapters to understand each and every kind of dreams individually by its nature, domain, background habitat and logic. Though main deliberations are from The Qur'an, Ahadiths, Atharats, conforming Biblical text but other scientific references have been sought to make this book widely beneficial for every section of life style without any prejudice to culture and religion. The inclusion of secular perceptions of Dreaming covers the non-religious desire to gain benefits from the endowed blessings of Almighty The-God. The overall scientific approach to Dreaming does not alter its divine importance but the secret knowledge from the dreams buds out to provide fragrance of life to each and every human born with this beautiful trait. By reading this book, people of different cultures and religions would blossom in the form of colourful foliage covering the scientific visions of Humankind. May Almighty make this book useful to all genuine Dreamers who seek His Almighty's Guidance for their betterment? So help us Almighty The-God (Ameen / A'men).

Book Hitchcock as Philosopher

Download or read book Hitchcock as Philosopher written by Robert J. Yanal and published by McFarland. This book was released on 2010-06-28 with total page 217 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The films of Alfred Hitchcock deal heavily with psychological and philosophical themes, and one needn't look very far into the canon to find them. In Psycho, for example, the personality metamorphosis in Marion Crane that leads her into grand larceny is a pale double of the murderous oedipal divide in Norman Bates. In The Birds, overbearing natural mutations turn what might have been a "creature feature" into a film about fear of the unknowable. This book looks at 12 Hitchcock films and the positions they put forth on three problem areas of epistemology: deception, knowledge of mind, and problematic knowledge of the external world. These philosophical concepts are explained and woven into the author's thorough and thought-provoking discussion of each film. Descartes and Wittengenstein star; Plato, Locke, Hume, Kant and Kierkegaard also make appearances in this new "philosopher's cut" of the master's works.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Following on the heels of the successful New Testament for Everyone commentaries by acclaimed scholar and author N. T. Wright, Westminster John Knox is pleased to announce the first volumes in the all new Old Testament for Everyone Bible commentary series. John Goldingay, an internationally respected Old Testament scholar, authors this ambitious series, treating every passage of Scripture from Genesis to Malachi, addressing the texts in such a way that even the most challenging passages are explained simply and concisely. Perfect for daily devotions, Sunday school prep, or brief visits with the Bible, the Old Testament for Everyone series is an excellent resource for the modern lay reader. The book of Genesis is a lively read featuring familiar biblical tales such as the creation of the world, Adam and Eve and the forbidden fruit, Noah and the flood, Abraham and Isaac, Jacob and Joseph, the Tower of Babel, and Sodom and Gomorrah. While readers may know the facts of these stories, Goldingay's work will instill in them a deeper understanding of their spiritual and theological significance. True to the For Everyone series' goal, Goldingay writes in a thoroughly accessible and engaging style with chapter titles such as "Friday Lunchtime," "Bigamy, Music, Technology, Murder," "Babylon becomes Babble-on," "Stuff Happens," and "Two Guys Who Need Their Heads Banged Together."

Book Why Are We Conscious

Download or read book Why Are We Conscious written by David E.H. Jones and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2017-07-20 with total page 250 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There are two huge gaps in scientific theory. One, the contradiction between classical and quantum mechanics, is discussed in many publications. The other, the total failure to explain why anything made of atoms (such as ourselves) can be conscious, has little acknowledgement. The main thesis of this book is that to be conscious at all, you need an unconscious mind. The author explores the idea that this mind sometimes makes contact with a whole unknown world, sporadically revealed by paranormal effects, but perhaps discoverable by hitherto uninvented scientific instruments. The book looks at the notion of the unconscious mind, one of the most important hypotheses of the twentieth century. Psychiatrists often deploy it rather informally, but there is no accepted theory of it. No region of the human brain seems to hold it. The author delves into the notion that the unknown world exists and is very weakly coupled to the physical world. He ponders the properties it may have to allow this coupling, looks at several paranormal effects scientifically and points out that many of them seem to imply brief but dramatic changes of the forces between atoms—a possible effect of the unknown world, unexamined by physical science. No existing publication seeks to talk both about paranormal mysteries and scientific theory. If scientists know about the gaps in existing knowledge, they might initiate research into such gaps, or notice experimental oddities they now gloss over. If the general public was aware of the gaps in physical theory, they would be less overwhelmed by the intellectual diktats of some scientists.
