Book Theo Drama Theological Dramatic Theory Vol 5

Download or read book Theo Drama Theological Dramatic Theory Vol 5 written by Hans Urs von Balthasar and published by Ignatius Press. This book was released on 1988-01-01 with total page 636 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the final volume of this series on "theological dramatic theory" by the great 20th century theologian Balthasar. This series is the second part of Balthasar's trilogy on the good, the beautiful and the true which is his major work. The first series in the trilogy is The Glory of the Lord, and following this Theo-Drama series will be Theo-Logic. In this series "the good" has been the focus. Balthasar maintains that it is in the theater that man attempts a kind of transcendence to observe and to judge his own truth about himself. He sees the phenomenon of theater as a source of fruitfulness for theological reflection on the cosmic drama that involves earth and heaven. This fifth volume is trinitarian, focusing on the mystery of God. He draws heavily on Scripture and many passages from the works of the mystic Adrienne von Spyer. Some of the topics covered include "A Christian Eschotology," "The World is from the Trinity," "Earth moves Heavenward," "The Final Act: A Trinitarian Drama."

Book Life Takes Place

  • Author : David Seamon
  • Publisher : Routledge
  • Release : 2018-04-19
  • ISBN : 1351212494
  • Pages : 266 pages

Download or read book Life Takes Place written by David Seamon and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-04-19 with total page 266 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Life Takes Place argues that, even in our mobile, hypermodern world, human life is impossible without place. Seamon asks the question: why does life take place? He draws on examples of specific places and place experiences to understand place more broadly. Advocating for a holistic way of understanding that he calls "synergistic relationality," Seamon defines places as spatial fields that gather, activate, sustain, identify, and interconnect things, human beings, experiences, meanings, and events. Throughout his phenomenological explication, Seamon recognizes that places are multivalent in their constitution and sophisticated in their dynamics. Drawing on British philosopher J. G. Bennett’s method of progressive approximation, he considers place and place experience in terms of their holistic, dialectical, and processual dimensions. Recognizing that places always change over time, Seamon examines their processual dimension by identifying six generative processes that he labels interaction, identity, release, realization, intensification, and creation. Drawing on practical examples from architecture, planning, and urban design, he argues that an understanding of these six place processes might contribute to a more rigorous place making that produces robust places and propels vibrant environmental experiences. This book is a significant contribution to the growing research literature in "place and place making studies."

Book A New Theory Of Music An Introduction

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is an introduction to a new music theory based upon the perspectives of an artist which are supported by correspondences between sound and light and the philosophies gleaned from extensive research into the esoteric teachings of Christianity. This book clearly and concisely introduces the basic framework for a completely new, and fundamentally holistic approach to understanding, writing, and learning music. Rather than learning the countless specific rules (and exceptions) and hundreds of historical examples, this approach begins with a practical foundation in the general principles of music theory and encourages one to creatively discover original examples of how the different parts work together as a whole. Most importantly, this works aims to distill the most essential elements of music and to convey them in a simplified manner that grants potential artists a way to penetrate into the mysteries of music.
