Download or read book The Dragon the Eagle and the Disappearance of Mh370 written by Michael La Vasani and published by Micro Publishing Media. This book was released on 2020-02 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Kelly Rostam, ex-airline pilot cum private detective, is contacted by a strange request to prove that a Malaysian Chinese had nothing to do with the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines flight MH370. To prove a negative seems unusual to Rostam, who refuses to take the case. Nevertheless, a red flag has been raised and Rostam's innate curiosity coupled with his knowledge about the plane's operation cause him to dig deeper and draw the attention of the American CIA. The gripping novel is loosely based on the facts and discoveries made by Michael La Vasani as he investigated the gaps in the media reports and press releases which have often been contradictory. It deals with evidence of a vast cover-up by the Chinese government to disguise the real reason lives were sacrificed on that vanished flight.

The authors are a mix of leading experts in technology, business, policy, intelligence, and geopolitics, partnered with experienced special operators who either cowrote the chapters or reviewed them to ensure accuracy and relevance for SOF. Our goal is to provide insights into the changes around us and generate ideas about how SOF can adapt and succeed in the emerging operational environment.
Download or read book The Phoenix written by Joseph Nigg and published by University of Chicago Press. This book was released on 2016-11-04 with total page 514 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An “insightful cultural history of the mythical, self-immolating bird” from Ancient Egypt to contemporary pop culture by the author of The Book of Gryphons (Library Journal). The phoenix, which rises again and again from its own ashes, has been a symbol of resilience and renewal for thousands of years. But how did this mythical bird come to play a part in cultures around the world and throughout human history? Here, mythologist Joseph Nigg presents a comprehensive biography of this legendary creature. Beginning in ancient Egypt, Nigg’s sweeping narrative discusses the many myths and representations of the phoenix, including legends of the Chinese, where it was considered a sacred creature that presided over China’s destiny; classical Greece and Rome, where it appears in the writings of Herodotus and Ovid; medieval Christianity, in which it came to embody the resurrection; and in Europe during the Renaissance, when it was a popular emblem of royals. Nigg examines the various phoenix traditions, the beliefs and tales associated with them, their symbolic and metaphoric use, and their appearance in religion, bestiaries, and even contemporary popular culture, in which the ageless bird of renewal is employed as a mascot and logo. “An exceptional work of scholarship.”—Publishers Weekly

This book was released on 2017-10-02 with total page 92 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The international profile of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) has grown significantly over the last half decade, with a notable increase in the frequency and complexity of its activities with partners abroad. As the Chinese military participates in multilateral meetings and engages foreign militaries around the world, it is strengthening diplomatic relations, building the People's Republic of China's (PRC's) soft power, and learning how to deploy and support military forces for longer periods. Several aspects of the PLA's military diplomacy remain relatively understudied. What are the PLA's objectives in conducting military diplomacy? Which partners does the PLA interact with most? What trends are evident in the pace and type of activities the PLA carries out? Which aspects of PLA military diplomacy should concern U.S. policymakers, and which present opportunities? This paper employs a variety of sources to analyze overall trends in the PLA's military diplomacy from approximately 2003 to the end of 2016, and it compares trends during the Hu Jintao era to trends since Xi Jinping became chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC) in November 2012.

Her insightful and clever writing analyzes how America’s obsession with the female form has affected her own life’s journey and the psyche of all women today. From her prize-winning fiction to her viral New York Times Modern Love essay, exploring the challenges facing contemporary women has been Lehr’s life-long passion. A Boob’s Life, her first project since breast cancer treatment, continues this mission, taking readers on a wildly informative, deeply personal, and utterly relatable journey.
