Each country is divided into four Hemispheres and one Non-Hemisphere, separated from one another due to the class riots that erupted during the year 2030. Kate Tiberius has originated from the affluent Eastern Hemisphere. At fifteen, shortly after having lost her father, she breaks the law by venturing into a sleazy nightclub in the Farmlands section of the Southern Hemisphere without wearing a disguise mac. On her way home she is viciously attacked and is prosecuted by her native quarter, which exiles her to the Non-Hemisphere quarter of unemployed down-and-outs.

Book Principles of Financial Engineering

Download or read book Principles of Financial Engineering written by Salih N. Neftci and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2004-04-19 with total page 571 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Presents a fresh introduction to financial engineering. This book offers links between intuition and underlying mathematics and a mixture of market insights and mathematical materials. It also includes end-of-chapter exercises and case studies. Bestselling author Salih Neftci presents a fresh, original, informative, and up-to-date introduction to financial engineering. The book offers clear links between intuition and underlying mathematics and an outstanding mixture of market insights and mathematical materials. Also included are end-of-chapter exercises and case studies. In a market characterized by the existence of large pools of liquid funds willing to go anywhere, anytime in search of a few points of advantage, there are new risks. Lacking experience with these new risks, firms, governmental entities, and other investors have been surprised by unexpected and often disastrous financial losses. Managers and analysts seeking to employ these new instruments and strategies to make pricing, hedging, trading, and portfolio management decisions require a mature understanding of theoretical finance and sophisticated mathematical and computer modeling skills. Important and useful because it analyzes financial assets and derivatives from the financial engineering perspective, this book offers a different approach than the existing finance literature in financial asset and derivative analysis. Seeking not to introduce financial instruments but instead to describe the methods of synthetically creating assets in static and in dynamic environments and to show how to use them, his book complements all currently available textbooks. It emphasizes developing methods that can be used in order to solve risk management, taxation, regulation, and above all, pricing problems. This perspective forms the basis of practical risk management. It will be useful for anyone learning about practical elements of financial engineering. Exercises and case studies at end of each chapter and on-line Solutions Manual are provided. It explains issues involved in day-to-day life of traders, using language other than mathematics. It offers careful and concise analysis of the LIBOR market model and of volatility engineering problems.

Book Down and Out in Paris and London

Download or read book Down and Out in Paris and London written by George Orwell and published by Modernista. This book was released on 2024-04-26 with total page 203 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Through George Orwell's firsthand accounts, readers are exposed to the harsh realities of life as a member of the destitute underclass. Orwell works various menial jobs, as dishwasher and plongeur in Parisian restaurants, and encounters a cast of characters from all walks of life. These include fellow down-and-outs, as well as the exploitative and indifferent employers and landlords who profit from their desperation. Down and Out in Paris and London sheds light on the daily challenges faced by those living in poverty, from the constant struggle to secure food and shelter to the lack of dignity and respect afforded to the working poor. Orwell's experiences also serve as a critique of societal structures and attitudes that perpetuate poverty and inequality, offering insight into the systemic failures that marginalize and oppress the most vulnerable members of society. GEORGE ORWELL was born in India in 1903 and passed away in London in 1950. As a journalist, critic, and author, he was a sharp commentator on his era and its political conditions and consequences.

Book The Ends and Outs of Mental Health

Download or read book The Ends and Outs of Mental Health written by Tonya Drummond and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2016-02-17 with total page 54 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is based on mental health. I'm writing this book to open the eyes of America about how medicine can help you and also become deadly to those who don’t really need it. Please, America, I must stress and I must let you know. I believe on the name of Jesus Christ, so I must tell you I'm writing to my spiritual father, in whom I trust and live through. So as you read, know that I'm not only talking or writing to you, but also to my father, who, I believe, created heaven and earth. I don't want to upset anyone, but the truth is the truth, and everything I do is for the truth, meaning my Father, who is the truth, the way, and the light. But most of all, righteous altogether. Now in America, I didn't really want to experience it or live it. But I did just that. And as a child of the Most High Lord, I am compelled to enlighten the eyes of the Father’s children. Because we know he is our healer, remember, we live by faith. I know that growing up in America, a good reporter, in order to get a good story, sometimes has to enter into the enemy’s camp so that we American people can get the breaking news. Also when in the military, we have to be a brave soldier. Well, I'm proud to be a fighter in the army of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I took both these two qualifications into consideration, and now I'm administrating it so that I can write this book. Who knows how the world proceeds the mentally ill. First, you have to “be it,” but are you really “it,” meaning “mental”? Some would say it's mind over matter, but in my opinion, it's a moneymaking “you fill in the blank.” The question is, who is really benefiting? Here's my story about the ins and outs of mental health patients. America, please keep in mind all patient are diagnosed as well as have different problems and situations that occurred or occurring. Remember, I'm not only writing to you America but to the God I serve.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Discover the Christian roots of the values we prize in western society. Is Christianity history? Or is Christian history the deepest explanation of the modern world? Today in the west, many consider the church to be dead or dying. Christianity is seen as outdated, bigoted and responsible for many of society’s problems. This leaves many believers embarrassed about their faith and many outsiders wary of religion. But what if the Christian message is not the enemy of our modern Western values, but the very thing that makes sense of them? In this fascinating book, Glen Scrivener takes readers on a journey to discover how the teachings of Jesus not only turned the ancient world upside down, but continue to underpin the way we think of life, worth, and meaning. Far from being a relic from the past, the distinctive ideas of Christianity, such as freedom, kindness, progress and equality, are a crucial part of the air that we breathe. As author Glen Scrivener says in his introduction: “The extraordinary impact of Christianity is seen in the fact that we don’t notice it". This is a book for both believers and sceptics-giving Christians confidence to be open about their faith and showing non-Christians the ways in which the message of Jesus makes sense of their most cherished beliefs. Whoever you are, you’ll gain a deeper appreciation for the values you hold dear as you discover the power and profundity of Jesus and his revolution.
