Book excerpt: Padre Pio, André Bessette, and Solanus Casey were, to all appearances, the sort of people others overlook. Yet in their lifetimes, untold numbers found physical and interior healing through their ministries, and since their deaths their fame has grown enormously. Their secret was the secret of every successful Christian life: In complete humility, they abandoned themselves to the will of God. God's Doorkeepers reveals how these miracle-workers, in spite of their lowly circumstances, inspired and continue to inspire those who seek a healing encounter with God.

Download or read book The Doorkeepers of the Law written by Reza Banakar and published by Dartmouth Publishing Company. This book was released on 1998 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book draws on Sweden's experiences of multiculturalism to address the difficulties of harnessing ethnic discriminatory practices through legal regulation. It also highlights the limitations of laws that are used to prevent and counteract ethnic discrimination and adverse treatment of ethnic minorities on ethno-cultural grounds. Through an examination of a number of cases processed by the Swedish Ombudsman against Ethnic Discrimination the author describes how the Swedish Act against Ethnic Discrimination (AED) functions in practice and how the efficacy of laws against ethnic discrimination may be maximised. Since the causes of ethnic discriminatory practices are located beyond the legal system and within the social, economic, political and cultural fabric of modern societies, this study also brings into light the intricate relationship between law as a system and its surrounding societal milieu. As such it touches upon a number of fundamental issues within legal philosophy and sociology of law.

Book Rewriting Ancient Jewish History

Download or read book Rewriting Ancient Jewish History written by Amram Tropper and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-04-20 with total page 229 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Half a century ago, the primary contours of the history of the Jews in Roman times were not subject to much debate. This standard account collapsed, however, when a handful of insights undermined the traditional historical method, the method long enlisted by historians for eliciting facts from sources. In response to these insights, a new historical method gradually emerged. Rewriting Ancient Jewish History critiques the traditional historical method and makes a case for the new one, illustrating how to write anew ancient Jewish history. At the heart of the traditional historical method lie three fundamental presumptions. The traditional historical method regularly presumes that multiple versions of a text or tradition are equally authentic; it presumes that many ancient Jewish sources are the products of largely immanent forces of cloistered Jewish communities; and, barring any local grounds for suspicion, it presumes that most ancient Jewish texts faithfully reflect their sources and reliably recount events. Rewriting Ancient Jewish History unfurls the failings of this approach; it promotes the new historical method which circumvents the flawed traditional presumptions while plotting anew the limits of rational argumentation in historical inquiry. This crucial reappraisal is a must-read for students of Jewish and Roman history alike, and a fascinating case-study in how historians should approach their ancient sources.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first guide to working with microchakras, the channels within each of the 7 major chakras • Identifies 147 microchakras that affect our spiritual evolution and daily well-being • Introduces the new field of Microchakra Psychology and its practical component of InnerTuning, the use of precise sacred sounds that release energy blockages within the chakras Each of the traditional 7 chakras contains 21 microchakras, which enable the chakras to process information related to our thoughts, feelings, and behavior. When the energy flowing in the chakras is blocked, our physical, emotional, and psychological well-being is compromised. Through the unique practice of InnerTuning--a system of precise, potent sounds and mantras--blockages in the microchakras can be released so the subtle body can become realigned and physical and mental health can be restored. Sri Shyamji Bhatnagar developed the InnerTuning technique from his early work with breath and sacred sounds, which began at age 12 with his guru in India. In 1967 his discovery of the 147 microchakras inspired his creation of Microchakra Psychology, a blend of ancient wisdom and contemporary psychology that explains the workings of the subtle body and how openings or blockages in the chakras can either encourage or sabotage psychological health and spiritual development. In this book, Shyamji describes methods for optimizing energy flow in the microchakras using the practice of InnerTuning in order to enhance one’s well-being and promote spiritual growth through the power of sound, breath, and the divine energy that resides within us all.
