While being incapable of praising as deep as we should, I offer to Allah, Rabb of all worlds, Most Gracious, Most Merciful, all my compliments that I can come up with and conceive with my humble thinking ability, and I offer my sincerest gratitude to Him for bestowing me, this humble, poor and servile one, His blessings and felicity to offer the reciters an English interpretation of the Qur’an. I entreat our Great Rabb to look after, protect and support us together with all the people who serve for the religion of Allah, as He did for His prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), his family and companions. In this work of mine, in which I have striven to comprehend the messages of our Rabb plainly and offer to all people, I have not sought for anything except than the countenance of Allah. Due to our weakness and our comprehension is limited, there are definitely deficiencies. However, my Rabb is witness that no wrong has been done intentionally. Therefore, I hope that our great Rabb forgives me. This interpretation that is presented here is a result of the analyses that were meticulously conducted by taking into account the ancient Arabic Language (with its vocabulary, grammar and literature) and the unity of the Qur’an. Evidences, sources and justifications relevant to this interpretation that we present are available in our work titled as Tebyinu’l Qur’an. Our readers who wish to get detailed information, review and examine our works, they can see these in Tebyinu’l Qur’an that has been published as 8 volumes or in our websites. The religion of Islam is, as the meaning, “The religion that strengthens people’’ [the set of principles that keep people away from the things like problems, sorrows, wars, weaknesses, spiritual illnesses, unhappiness and similar things and that ensure safety and security]. The religion of Islam taught in the Qur’an in fact distances people and societies from problems, fears, unhappiness, quarrels, wars and similar negative things. All the principles in the Qur’an are for the health, happiness and peaceful living of humanity. The name of the religion that Allah sent with Adam, Noah, …Abraham, …Moses, Jesus and Muhammad is İslam. The only source of the religion of İslam is the Qur’an. Some people and communities known as Muslims on earth adopted the views and understandings of some others as a religion by leaving the original messages of the Qur’an. Hence, intolerable problems among themselves and in their relations with non-Muslims have emerged and still continue to emerge. Islam expounded by the Qur’an is very different from what it appears, particularly what the non-Muslims see on those people who claim to be Muslims. When you read the English interpretation of the Qur’an which is the source the religion of İslam, you will know the Qur’an and the religion of İslam more closely.

Book Juan de Segovia and the Qur an

Download or read book Juan de Segovia and the Qur an written by Davide Scotto and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2024-09-02 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In spring 1456, with the help of the faqīh Yça Gidelli, Juan de Segovia accomplished a trilingual Qur’an (Castilian, Arabic and Latin) he regarded as fundamental to the conversion of the Muslims after the Ottoman conquest of Byzantium. This book delves into Segovia’s program, from his university lectures at Salamanca to the disputes held with Muslims in Castile, from the doctrinal debates at the Council of Basel to his exile in the Duchy of Savoy and the destiny of his books. Segovia deemed the await of miracles, preaching in Islamic lands, and the Crusade promoted by the papacy, to be useless. On the contrary, he considered knowledge of the Qur'an as unavoidable for Christian scholars engaged in the study of Islam, but also for Muslims, who were supposed to understand Christian doctrine through their own "law". It will be shown how Segovia's proposal is far from echoing modern concerns for religious tolerance, pacifism, and Arabic studies, let alone twentieth-century interreligious dialogue. Drawing on Biblical exegesis, Segovia called his program via pacis et doctrine and discussed it with influential churchmen such as Nicholas of Cusa and Enea Silvio Piccolomini. He believed mutual exchange of doctrinal ideas to be the only solution to stem wars and persuade Muslims to convert voluntarily to the Christian faith.

Book Structural Dividers in the Qur an

Download or read book Structural Dividers in the Qur an written by Marianna Klar and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2020-12-03 with total page 433 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume showcases a wide range of contemporary approaches to the identification of literary structures within Qur’anic surahs. Recent academic studies of the Qur’an have taken an increasing interest in the concept of the surah as a unity and, with it, the division of complete surahs into consecutive sections or parts. Part One presents a series of case studies focussing on individual Qur’anic surahs. Nevin Reda analyzes the structure of Sūrat Āl ʿImrān (Q 3), Holger Zellentin looks at competing structures within Sūrat al-ʿAlaq (Q 96), and A.H. Mathias Zahniser provides an exploration of the ring structures that open Sūrat Maryam (Q 19). Part Two then focusses on three discrete aspects of the text. Nora K. Schmid assesses the changing structural function of oaths, Marianna Klar evaluates how rhythm, rhyme, and morphological parallelisms combine in order to produce texture and cohesion, while Salwa El-Awa considers the structural impact of connectives and other discourse markers with specific reference to Sūrat Ṭāhā (Q 20). The final section of the volume juxtaposes contrasting attitudes to the discernment of diachronic seams. Devin Stewart examines surah-medial oracular oaths, Muhammad Abdel Haleem questions a range of instances where suggestions of disjointedness have historically been raised, and Nicolai Sinai explores the presence of redactional layers within Sūrat al-Nisāʾ (Q 4) and Sūrat al-Māʾidah (Q 5). Bringing a combination of different approaches to Qur’an structure into a single book, written by well-established and emerging voices in Qur’anic studies, the work will be an invaluable resource to academics researching Islam, religious studies, and languages and literatures in general. Chapters 3 and 6 of this book are freely available as downloadable Open Access PDFs at http://www.taylorfrancis.com under a Creative Commons [Attribution-Non Commercial-No Derivatives (CC-BY-NC-ND)] 4.0 license.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Thematic Tafseer is a form of Tafseer gaining popularity in our time, in which the author tries to illustrate the link between the verses and Surahs of the Qur’an. This approach to Tafseer has evolved as a response to criticism from orientalists who claim that the Qur’an is disjointed and lacking structure. They claim that the Qur’an strangely jumps from one topic to another without any flow or logic and as such they claim it cannot be from God. (We seek Allah’s protection from such thinking) To a beginner reader, the Qur’an does seem to jump from topic to topic without any theme or structure. However, this is because of a wrong approach to understanding the Qur’an. We are accustomed to reading the writings of humans and as such, we expect a certain pattern in writing which almost all humans adhere to. If one approaches the Qur’an with this idea in mind, its format does seem strange. However, the Qur’an is not the writings of a human being. It is the Eternal Uncreated Word of Allah, the Creator of the Heavens and Earth, and as such it is the most unique book on earth. It is unique in every way, its rhythm, its beauty, its depth, its structure and even its themes. The Qur’an flows like a conversation between the Creator and our minds, and when we approach the Qur’an in such a manner, we find its shifts in themes logical and often miraculous. It is common to find someone reflecting on a verse, thinking up a question and then realizing the very next verse addresses that question, making the shift in topic not random, but rather miraculous. In other words, the Qur’an is meant for those who think and reflect, who treat it with honour and who study it using the proper methodology. This approach to working out the themes of the Qur’an is fascinating, hence a dedicated a series of thirty posts to this topic, focusing on the themes covered in each Juz is found in this compilation. Studying the Qur’an in this manner has been truly eye-opening and the resulting work is something worth publishing so others too can benefit from this short summary of the themes of the Qur’an. In terms of resources, there are two primary works which influenced these posts, one is A thematic commentary on the Qur’an by Shaykh Muhammad Al-Ghazali and the other is Al-Qur’an: The Guidance for mankind by Farooq Azam Malik. Shaykh Al-Ghazali’s work is a comprehensive Tafseer focusing on thematic unity which discusses each Surah of the Qur’an in detail. Brother Malik’s book is, possibly, the best translation of the meanings of the Qur’an currently on the market and each Surah is preceded by a short summary of its themes and topics which is extremely useful and beneficial. The above two resources were utilized, as well as the classical commentaries like Al-Qurtubi, Al-Jalalayn and Ibn Kathir as the foundation of this work. Book European Muslims and the Qur an

Download or read book European Muslims and the Qur an written by Gulnaz Sibgatullina and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2023-12-18 with total page 274 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This edited volume aims to advance a Muslim-centered perspective on the study of Islam in Europe. To do so, it brings together a range of case studies that illustrate how European Muslims engaged with their Sacred Scripture while being part of a Christian-dominated social and political space. The research presented in this volume seeks to analyse Muslims’ practices of translating, interpreting and using the Qur’an as a sacred object and, thus, pursues three main research agendas. Part I focuses on the issues of Muslim-Christian relations in Europe and studies how these relations have engendered discursive connections between Muslim- and Christian-produced texts related to the study and interpretation of the Qur’an. Part II aims to bring scholarly attention to the under-represented cases of Muslim communities in Europe. This part introduces new research on Polish-Belarusian, Daghestani, Bosnian and Kazan Tatars and examines local traditions of producing vernacular Qur’ans and commodification of Qur’anic manuscripts. The final section of the volume, Part III, contributes to filling in the gaps related to the theoretical and conceptual framing of Muslim translation activities. The history of religious thought and practice in European history is in many ways still uncharted territory. This book aims to contribute to a better understanding of the cultural history of the Qur’an and Muslim agency in interpreting, transmitting and translating the Sacred Scripture.
