Download or read book The Discovery of Significant Oil and Gas Fields in the United States Appendixes written by and published by . This book was released on 1981 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The data appendixes included in this volume provide basic background for and supplement the descriptions and analyses presented in "The Discovery of Significant Oil and Gas Fields in the United States," R-2654/1-USGS/DOE, and should be used in conjunction with that volume. Appendix A consists of the significant oil and gas fields data base, the primary source of data for the descriptive analysis of Sections III and IV of the main report. Appendix B provides cumulative and current (1975) production data for crude oil and natural gas by field size class for each state or statistical area and region, supplementing the descriptive analyses of Section III. Appendix C lists the number of significant oil field discoveries in the United States by field size class over 5-year periods by region and type of field, supplementing the figures of Section IV. Appendix D gives data on the amounts of crude oil and natural gas discovered in the United States by 5-year periods up to and including 1975, also supplementing the figures of Section IV. Appendix E presents data on exploratory drilling by region in the United States from 1936 to 1975. Appendix F provides estimates of future significant discoveries in the lower 48 states by field size and region, supplementing the undiscovered resource estimates of Section V. Each appendix is preceded by a brief introduction that describes the tables in that appendix, the procedures used to prepare them, and their sources of data.

Book The Discovery of Significant Oil and Gas Fields in the United States

Download or read book The Discovery of Significant Oil and Gas Fields in the United States written by Richard Nehring and published by . This book was released on 1981 with total page 268 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A quantitative assessment of the ultimate conventional petroleum resources of the United States. Using a database listing all the significant oil and gas fields, the authors describe what has already been discovered, interpret why these discoveries happened when they did, and assess the remaining geologic prospects. U.S. petroleum resources are highly concentrated in a few major provinces and in a relatively small number of giant and large fields. Since the peaks in oil discoveries about 1930 and natural gas about 1950, both the number of discoveries and the amounts discovered have declined substantially. The authors conclude that most of the conventional petroleum that will ultimately be produced has already been discovered and made recoverable. Ultimate recovery will most likely be between 210 and 285 billion barrels of petroleum liquids and 920 to 1,090 trillion cubic feet of natural gas, as compared with known recovery of 175 billion barrels and 750 trillion cubic feet.

Book History Exploration Exploitation of Oil and Gas

Download or read book History Exploration Exploitation of Oil and Gas written by Silvia Fernanda Figueirôa and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-04-02 with total page 109 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This edited volume discusses scientific and technological aspects of the history of the oil and gas industry in national and international contexts. The search for oil for industrial uses began in the nineteenth century, the first drills made in Azerbaijan and the United States. This intense search for a substance to become one of the most important energy sources was, many times, based on skill as well as luck, resulting in knowledge and the development of prospecting and exploration technologies. The demand for oil improved expertise in geological science, in areas such as micropaleontology, stratigraphy or sedimentology and informed different disciplines such as geophysics. These contributions made possible not only the discovery of new oil fields but also new applications and methods of exploration. Beyond the scientific and technological aspects, an industry that grew to such considerable size also impacted the political, economic, social, cultural, environmental and diplomatic issues in history. The book approaches these changes in different scales, countries, areas, and perspectives. This edited book appeals to researchers, student, practitioners in various fields from geology and geophysics to history. It is also an important resource for professionals in the oil and gas industry.

This book was released on 1991-02-01 with total page 193 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When the U.S. Department of the Interior released its 1989 estimates of how much undiscovered oil and gas remain in the United States, a controversy ensued. Some members of the petroleum industry charged that the estimates were too low. This book evaluates the scientific credibility of the statistical and geological methods underlying the estimates.

Book News Shocks in Open Economies

Download or read book News Shocks in Open Economies written by Mr.Rabah Arezki and published by International Monetary Fund. This book was released on 2015-09-29 with total page 54 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This paper explores the effect of news shocks on the current account and other macroeconomic variables using worldwide giant oil discoveries as a directly observable measure of news shocks about future output ? the delay between a discovery and production is on average 4 to 6 years. We first present a two-sector small open economy model in order to predict the responses of macroeconomic aggregates to news of an oil discovery. We then estimate the effects of giant oil discoveries on a large panel of countries. Our empirical estimates are consistent with the predictions of the model. After an oil discovery, the current account and saving rate decline for the first 5 years and then rise sharply during the ensuing years. Investment rises robustly soon after the news arrives, while GDP does not increase until after 5 years. Employment rates fall slightly for a sustained period of time.
