It holds the risk of causing unnecessary injury, especially if you are not used to the fragility of humans," he warns. His mouth goes dry at the possibility of hurting her. "If you wouldn't mind prepping her?" he hums. "Of course not," the doctor waves away his worries. "You caught me at a good time. I don't have any more patients for the day," he says, standing up and guiding her towards the medical bed, pushing gently at her shoulder to get her to settle on the bed. There's a pause where it seems like she doesn't want to get up, but the doctor lifts her up and she only manages to make a soft voice of protest before she's on the bed. "Sometimes we get really sensitive ones and they fall off the bed," the doctor explains. "It's for her own safety."

All her teachers told her she needs to be careful with the opposite sex, but he's a doctor. "It's in- it's in my chest," she says, eyes darting up to capture his reaction. He looks a little worried. "Difficulty breathing? Heart palpitations?" he asks. "No, no," she shakes her head and gives up resisting the urge to take the tip of her tail between her teeth, chewing the end anxiously. She startles when his hand closes over hers, gentling tugging her tail away. "Don't do that, Kitten," he says. His hand is so much larger than hers, calloused fingers rubbing the inside of her palm in a soothing circle. She looks up and sees something akin to hunger in his eyes and panics, throwing her hand out and scratching him across the face. Or she tries to. He is able to grab hold of her other wrist before she is able to do any real damage and she panics, kicking and yowling, trying to pull herself free, only to have him pull her in closer and closer until she is sitting on his lap, legs dangling over the side of his thigh. She struggles anew, screeching an ungodly high pitch that makes him growl at her in warning. "Stay still," he snarls, baring his sharp fangs at her. The shock of seeing his mouth full of fangs is enough to make her pause for a breath, but she begins to panic again almost immediately, snarling at him too even though she can't do what he did and change her teeth so that they're sharper. She tries to kick at him. He lets out a loud roar that fills the room and makes everything shake, including her. She freezes, heart pounding too fast in her chest as she looks up at the hulking beast in front of her. He looks more like a wolf than a man, his claws sharp and his eyes glowing. Unlike him, she can’t shift into her animal form. She wonders how huge he would be if he were to change completely, shed his human skin and take on fur instead. He looks so terribly upset with her. She whimpers.

In Touch Screen Theory, Michele White focuses on the relation between physically touching and emotionally feeling to recenter the bodies and identities that are empowered, produced, and displaced by these digital technologies and settings.
