Book IMPACT OF PSYCHOLOGICAL AND SOCIOLOGICAL FACTORS ON SMALL SCALE ENTREPRENEURS

This book was released on 2023-02-26 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The impact of psychological and sociological factors on small scale entrepreneurs refers to how individual and societal factors affect the success or failure of small business ventures. Psychological factors such as self-efficacy, motivation, personality traits, stress, fear of failure, perceived control, goal setting, and emotional intelligence can influence an entrepreneur's decision-making process, risk-taking behavior, and ability to adapt to changing circumstances. Sociological factors such as social norms, culture, social support, family influence, education, government policies, economic conditions, and networking can impact an entrepreneur's access to resources, market opportunities, and social capital. Understanding how these factors interact with each other and impact the entrepreneurial process can provide insights for policymakers, educators, and practitioners to support small business development and promote economic growth. Additionally, by understanding these factors, entrepreneurs can identify potential barriers to success and develop strategies to overcome them, leading to more successful and sustainable ventures. The economic development of any country is dependable on accumulation and availability of resources like human, land, capital and innovative technology. The relatively higher growth of population has led to increase in the volume of unemployment and under employment. Due to recession, fluctuation in international trade and high unemployment, the interest of industrialized countries are constantly suffering. To sustain increasing demand and to generate employment opportunities there is a need of entrepreneur, who bring something new with his ability, can utilize and initiate economic opportunity. The process of integrating resources to create value and utility to end users is known as entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurship is multidimensional and evolving concept consisting of economic, psychological, sociological, political and management perspectives. The basic element of entrepreneurship is to pick-out opportunities, utility creation and mobilization of resources. Entrepreneurship is defined as pre-start, start-up and post-start-up phase of entrepreneurial process with the prime objective of inspiring people to start the business. Due to interest shown by governments all over the world the entrepreneurship policy is attracting, encouraging and retaining entrepreneurs for socio-economic benefits.

Book Psychology in Economics and Business

Download or read book Psychology in Economics and Business written by G. Antonides and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-09 with total page 355 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A number of books on economic psychology have appeared in the past few years. The most recent publications are by MacFadyen and Mac Fadyen (1986), Furnham and Lewis (1986), Lea et al. (1987) and Van Raaij et al. (1988). Why produce yet another book for this discipline? This question can be answered in various ways. In a sense, this book is the answer in itself. Its presentation of re search and theories is innovative in this field, at least to my knowledge. It attempts to structure the many theories emerging in the interdisci plinary science of economic psychology and to explain the background of the research. The second answer is pragmatic. In our introductory course of eco nomic psychology for economics students at Erasmus University Rot terdam we used several of the above mentioned books. Our experience with this material is that, when preparing our lectures, we had to ex plain many additional theories and experiments to our students. fur thermore, diagrams, figures and examples had to be culled from other sources or made by ourselves. It is not my intention to run down these publications since I think they provide an excellent treatment of a num ber of topics by specialists in economic psychology. The plan for the present book, however, emerged from our need to present an integrated introductory course for our students.

Book Social Psychology and Economics

Download or read book Social Psychology and Economics written by David De Cremer and published by Psychology Press. This book was released on 2013-09-05 with total page 348 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book combines chapters written by leading social psychologists and economists, illuminating the developing trends in explaining and understanding economic behavior in a social world. It provides insights from both fields, communicated by eloquent scholars, and demonstrates through recent research and theory how economic behaviors may be more effectively examined using a combination of both fields. Social Psychology and Economics comes at a particularly fitting time, as a psychological approach to economics has begun to flourish in recent years, and papers exploring the intersection of these two disciplines have appeared in peer-reviewed journals, opening a dynamic dialogue between previously separated fields. This volume, the first in the Society for Judgment and Decision Making Series since acquired by Psychology Press, includes chapters by economists and psychologists. It addresses a variety of economic phenomena within a social context, such as scarcity and materialism, emphasizing the importance of integrating social psychology and economics. Social Psychology and Economics is arranged in seven parts that discuss: an introduction to the topic; preferences, utility, and choice; emotions; reciprocity, cooperation, and fairness; social distance; challenges to social psychology and economics; and collaborative reflections and projections. The market for this book is students, researchers, and professionals in the disciplines of economics, psychology, business, and behavioral decision making. Graduate students and upper-level undergraduate students will consider it a useful supplemental text.

Section I: Introduction "A little more persistence, a little more effort, and what seemed hopeless failure may turn to glorious success". These words of Elbert Hubbard, American Philosopher and incidentally an Entrepreneur himself, highlights how a little extra push could convert hopeless failure into glorious success. It becomes all the more relevant in the field of Entrepreneurship. 1 In the era of Liberalization, Privatization, and Globalization, the materialistic prosperity and economic well-being is highly influenced by the level of Entrepreneurship in the country. Entrepreneurship has become the engine of economic and social development throughout the world in the 21st century (Audretsch, 2003, 2005). The value of entrepreneurship to economic development, job creation, and innovation is well documented (Carree & Thurik, 2010). The role of entrepreneurship in society has changed drastically over the last half a century. Engendering entrepreneurship is one of the key priorities for formulating public policy in most of the economies of the world, more so in developing economies as prosperity of people revolves around the successful outcomes of entrepreneurship. In comparison to other disciplines, the field of entrepreneurship is still young and in a formative stage. The impact of entrepreneurship on society is investigated widely and is the focus of a growing body of research ranging from the disciplines of economics, psychology, sociology to management. In developing economies, as the significance of entrepreneurship has been felt as vital due to its contribution to make the economy so vibrant and dynamic, the thrust for the importance of entrepreneurial success increases, so does the importance of entrepreneurial failure. As more enterprises enter the market, the potential for failure is as significant as the potential for success. Even though any failure and in particular, the entrepreneurial failure is appraised in a negative fashion, the learning opportunity it provides for policy makers, entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, and other stakeholders to look at different perspectives is vitally important. Since entrepreneurs are required to perform a series of critical functions that have been created as a consequence of inefficient and underdeveloped markets, uncertain,

This book was released on 2024-03-14 with total page 561 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Entrepreneurial Ecosystems in Cities and Regions assembles original contributions from scholars across the world to provide an in-depth analysis of a concept that has the capability to capture a dynamic global economy with entrepreneurial innovation at the crux of its future development. It addresses wider issues concerning the evolution of new forms of industrial organisation. Entrepreneurial Ecosystems in Cities and Regions builds a framework for establishing a robust and sustainable concept that can help propel an understanding of how cities and regions around the world can use entrepreneurship and innovation as a catalyst for their future economic, social, and environmental development. The volume highlights the need to account for urban and regional contextual factors when determining the strength or otherwise of entrepreneurial ecosystems, and illustrates that these factors can lead to the development of entrepreneurial activity of quite a different nature across cities and regions.
