Download or read book The Diaries of Matthew written by Bruce Calandro and published by Page Publishing Inc. This book was released on 2021-08-05 with total page 150 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is mostly about Matthew and what it meant to him to get to walk with the Lord of all. This book is not about the four gospels, which were written fifty years after the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. This is a daily accounting from a confused man. One of the twelve had to have written a diary. I believe it was Matthew. He had to be the one who was hated by the public: no one likes a tax collector. I believe that Matthew is the one who wrote the diary. He would have been the keeper of the writings. The book is Matthew’s take on the new life that the son of God has brought to earth. He saw things that no one had ever seen. Matthew witnessed Jesus reconstruct a man’s bones to let him walk. It is my fondest hope that every reader comes out a changed person, the same as Matthew. The book is about the change Matthew underwent by following the son of God in this earthly realm. One thing is for sure: Matthew could never go back to collect taxes for the Romans again. The book s mostly about Matthews take on the man called Jesus. Matthew gained a warm heart and a sound mind due to realizing the scope of God’s love that flows from him. This book is a work of fiction...or is it?

Book The Diaries of St Matthew

Download or read book The Diaries of St Matthew written by Mano Govindaraj and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2013-11 with total page 145 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a drama about how the gospel of St. Matthew may have been written by Matthew, one of the disciples of Jesus Christ. One day Jesus went to the tax office at Capernaum without any notice whatsoever and called Matthew. Matthew saw something so special in Jesus that he honored him with a family feast that same day and humbled himself to become a disciple of Jesus. Matthew was a tax collector of the Roman government and was therefore well trained in writing records and diaries. The diaries began with the call of Matthew and ended a few days after the resurrection. The drama presents a scenario for the origin of the synoptic puzzle and considers why these diaries remained unknown to the early Christians for two generations. The only assumption we need to make is that those devout people who put together the original Greek Bible acted in good faith and knew what they were doing when they placed it as the first book of their new scripture.

Book Greenlights

Download or read book Greenlights written by Matthew McConaughey and published by Crown. This book was released on 2020-10-20 with total page 338 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • MORE THAN FOUR MILLION COPIES SOLD! Discover the life-changing memoir that has inspired millions of readers through the Academy Award®–winning actor’s unflinching honesty, unconventional wisdom, and lessons learned the hard way about living with greater satisfaction. “The No. 1 celebrity memoir of the past 10 years.”—USA Today “McConaughey’s book invites us to grapple with the lessons of his life as he did—and to see that the point was never to win, but to understand.”—Mark Manson, author of The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck I’ve been in this life for fifty years, been trying to work out its riddle for forty-two, and been keeping diaries of clues to that riddle for the last thirty-five. Notes about successes and failures, joys and sorrows, things that made me marvel, and things that made me laugh out loud. How to be fair. How to have less stress. How to have fun. How to hurt people less. How to get hurt less. How to be a good man. How to have meaning in life. How to be more me. Recently, I worked up the courage to sit down with those diaries. I found stories I experienced, lessons I learned and forgot, poems, prayers, prescriptions, beliefs about what matters, some great photographs, and a whole bunch of bumper stickers. I found a reliable theme, an approach to living that gave me more satisfaction, at the time, and still: If you know how, and when, to deal with life’s challenges—how to get relative with the inevitable—you can enjoy a state of success I call “catching greenlights.” So I took a one-way ticket to the desert and wrote this book: an album, a record, a story of my life so far. This is fifty years of my sights and seens, felts and figured-outs, cools and shamefuls. Graces, truths, and beauties of brutality. Getting away withs, getting caughts, and getting wets while trying to dance between the raindrops. Hopefully, it’s medicine that tastes good, a couple of aspirin instead of the infirmary, a spaceship to Mars without needing your pilot’s license, going to church without having to be born again, and laughing through the tears. It’s a love letter. To life. It’s also a guide to catching more greenlights—and to realizing that the yellows and reds eventually turn green too. Good luck.

Book Finding Poland

Download or read book Finding Poland written by Matthew Kelly and published by Random House. This book was released on 2012-03-31 with total page 354 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Following the partitioning of Poland by Germany and the Soviet Union in 1939, Matthew Kelly's great grandmother and her two daughters were deported to the East. Thus began an extraordinary ordeal that took them, and many thousands like them, on a journey stretching from Siberia to Pakistan, and beyond. Their male relatives endured a parallel journey; arrested, exiled, and held as prisoners of war. Countless numbers were summarily executed by the Red Army. They saw the steppe, they were put to work in labour camps, they built sections of the trans-Siberian railway, they cleared forests, they toiled on collective farms. They knew hunger, exhaustion, disease and death. Persecuted by the Soviet Union, Poland was to become its unexpected ally following the German invasion in 1941. A new Polish army, 'The Anders Army' was assembled in Palestine. For a brief moment, in Kazakhstan, families were reunited, before being evacuated; to India, to Britain, to Mexico and East Africa; and from there, across the world. The experiences of these Poles had consequences far reaching and enduring, both to Poland, to Polish identity, and to the families that survived; reverberating through generations. These incredible stories remain largely untold. In Finding Poland Matthew Kelly embarks on a journey through his ancestor's footsteps, travelling through places they lived, and landscapes they survived, to provide an account of these extraordinary people and their unique history. Part memoir, history and travel book, it is also a profound meditation on the experience of displacement and exile, of the impact of such seismic disruption, and the deep legacies such trauma bequeaths.

Book The Great Big Book of Horrible Things

Download or read book The Great Big Book of Horrible Things written by Matthew White and published by W. W. Norton & Company. This book was released on 2011-10-25 with total page 689 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A compulsively readable and utterly original account of world history—from an atrocitologist’s point of view. Evangelists of human progress meet their opposite in Matthew White's epic examination of history's one hundred most violent events, or, in White's piquant phrasing, "the numbers that people want to argue about." Reaching back to 480 BCE's second Persian War, White moves chronologically through history to this century's war in the Congo and devotes chapters to each event, where he surrounds hard facts (time and place) and succinct takeaways (who usually gets the blame?) with lively military, social, and political histories. With the eye of a seasoned statistician, White assigns each entry a ranking based on body count, and in doing so he gives voice to the suffering of ordinary people that, inexorably, has defined every historical epoch. By turns droll, insightful, matter-of-fact, and ultimately sympathetic to those who died, The Great Big Book of Horrible Things gives readers a chance to reach their own conclusions while offering a stark reminder of the darkness of the human heart.
