Michael, now a judge, claims that he and Margo were teenage “friends with benefits.” But Margo, a housewife, claims Michael raped her repeatedly, resulting in a still-born baby that she buried in secret when she was only seventeen years old. Then, a second skeleton—this one an adult—is found at the same building site. As Police Detectives Bartholomew Jones and Helen Martin peel away the layers hiding the truth behind the possible homicide, they discover evidence linking several players in the second case to the baby’s case: Is Margo possibly the killer of the unidentified man? Why did her estranged sister help to bury the man’s body? Why is the victim’s skeleton missing its little finger?

Book Never Bet the Devil Other Warnings

Download or read book Never Bet the Devil Other Warnings written by Orrin Grey and published by Evileye Books. This book was released on 2012-11 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The stories of Orrin Grey are fun, fast, and, surprising enough in a genre where doom, gloom, and ultra-gore are standard issue, rather good-natured. It's not often you come across 'pleasant horror, ' but that's the best way to describe this collection-put a load of classic horror movies and comic books in a blender, liberally add some splashes of Mike Mignola-cool, and you've got yourself a monster mash to be reckoned with." - Jesse Bullington, author of Enterprise of Death and The Sad Tale of the Brothers Grossbart A WORLD JUST BEYOND KNOWING By Orrin Grey As a reader and writer, I love the economy and freedom of the short story form. When it comes to matters of the supernatural, short stories are particularly well-suited to delivering the inexplicable, the indefinable, the numinous, something still left unexplored, an edge of the map marked "Here, there be monsters." I seek out these stories in anthologies, in films, and in comics like the old Warren Creepy and Eerie magazines, but my favorite way to read them is in a collection written by the vision of a single author. Collections let you see the stories all stacked up next to each other, see how the author changes from one story to the next, and how they stay the same. Whether it's Clive Barker's The Books of Blood or the ghost stories of M.R. James and E.F. Benson, a collection by a contemporary master or one of the billion-or-so compilations of tales by Lovecraft, Bradbury or Poe, there's no other kind of book I'd rather curl up with. So when the opportunity presented itself for me to put together my first collection of stories, I jumped at the chance. I must have drafted the table of contents for the book that would become Never Bet the Devil & Other Warnings at least a million times, trying to find just the right balance, the right combination. The title story is little more than a fragment, written for a contest that it didn't win, but I think it sets the right tone, invites you into the world that I'm building, one story at a time. A world made from old movies and horror comics and ghost stories, filled with golems and necromancers, cursed books and haunted houses, ghouls and jazz musicians and the skeleton of, well, something. That's the real beauty of a short story collection: it lets you build a world that somehow always remains just beyond the reach of knowing, a house that's always full of cobwebs and dark corners. A short story collection is never just one ride, it's an entire dark carnival, a cabinet of curiosities that gives you a glimpse into a place of infinite strangeness, but never quite lets you see the whole picture. - OG "Orrin Grey writes tales that are as eloquent as they are eerie. He deftly blends the high Gothic aesthetics of classical horror with a raconteur's innate knack for storytelling. Grey is a unique talent, and is destined to become a major name in weird fiction." - Richard Gavin, author of The Darkly Splendid Realm "Never Bet the Devil is a creepy foray into the realm of the weird and the sinister. An intriguing exploration of traditional and modern horror modes. Grey's debut shows a great deal of promise." Laird Barron, author of Occultation and The Croning

Book Answers to Questions People Never Ask

Download or read book Answers to Questions People Never Ask written by Joshua Hinneh and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2011-04 with total page 462 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book reveals the symbols, used so abundantly in the Old and New Testaments, what they mean, and what they are telling us. Symbols often say more than the words used.Capitals, and lower case first letters, of words also tell a great deal. As an example, should "holy spirit" be capitalized? Most of the time, the answer is no, because, though God is a Spirit, Himself, the holy spirit is your own spirit, wedded to the Spirit of the Almighty. It is in union with God, but it is in part, your own spirit. How much is God, how much is "you," depends of you.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Volume 11 Sermons 607-667 Charles Spurgeon (19 June 1834 – 31 January 1892) is one of the church’s most famous preachers and Christianity’s foremost prolific writers. Called the “Prince of Preachers,” he was one of England's most notable ministers for most of the second half of the nineteenth century, and he still remains highly influential among Christians of different denominations today. His sermons have spread all over the world, and his many printed works have been cherished classics for decades. In his lifetime, Spurgeon preached to more than 10 million people, often up to ten times each week. He was the pastor of the congregation of the New Park Street Chapel (later the Metropolitan Tabernacle) in London for 38 years. He was an inexhaustible author of various kinds of works including sermons, commentaries, an autobiography, as well as books on prayer, devotionals, magazines, poetry, hymns and more. Spurgeon was known to produce powerful sermons of penetrating thought and divine inspiration, and his oratory and writing skills held his audiences spellbound. Many Christians have discovered Spurgeon's messages to be among the best in Christian literature. Edward Walford wrote in Old and New London: Volume 6 (1878) quoting an article from the Times regarding one of Spurgeon’s meetings at Surrey: “Fancy a congregation consisting of 10,000 souls, streaming into the hall, mounting the galleries, humming, buzzing, and swarming—a mighty hive of bees—eager to secure at first the best places, and, at last, any place at all. After waiting more than half an hour—for if you wish to have a seat you must be there at least that space of time in advance—Mr. Spurgeon ascended his tribune. To the hum, and rush, and trampling of men, succeeded a low, concentrated thrill and murmur of devotion, which seemed to run at once, like an electric current, through the breast of every one present, and by this magnetic chain the preacher held us fast bound for about two hours. It is not my purpose to give a summary of his discourse. It is enough to say of his voice, that its power and volume are sufficient to reach every one in that vast assembly; of his language, that it is neither high-flown nor homely; of his style, that it is at times familiar, at times declamatory, but always happy, and often eloquent; of his doctrine, that neither the 'Calvinist' nor the 'Baptist' appears in the forefront of the battle which is waged by Mr. Spurgeon with relentless animosity, and with Gospel weapons, against irreligion, cant, hypocrisy, pride, and those secret bosom-sins which so easily beset a man in daily life; and to sum up all in a word, it is enough to say of the man himself, that he impresses you with a perfect conviction of his sincerity.” More than a hundred years after his death, Charles Spurgeon’s legacy continues to effectively inspire the church around the world. For this reason, Delmarva Publications has chosen to republish the complete works of Charles Spurgeon.

Book Luther The Devil s Disciple

Download or read book Luther The Devil s Disciple written by Adam Weishaupt and published by Magus Books. This book was released on with total page 135 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It's a striking feature of Protestantism that so few Protestants know anything about the founder of their religion. Martin Luther, the prophet of Protestant irrationalism, is one of the most pathological figures in religious history. Would any sane person wish to subscribe to a religion whose founder declared: "Reason is the Devil's greatest whore; by nature and in manner of being she is a noxious whore; she is a prostitute, the Devil's appointed whore; whore eaten by scab and leprosy who ought to be trodden under foot and destroyed, she and her wisdom...Throw dung in her face to make her ugly. She is and she ought to be drowned in baptism...She would deserve, the wretch, to be banished to the filthiest place in the house, the toilet." Making extensive use of Luther's own words, the Pythagorean Illuminati, the oldest secret society in the world, have produced a polemical attack on the religion that has come to be most closely identified with the evils of Western capitalism.
