Book The Development of a Comprehensive Biblical Worldview in Undergraduate Students who Attend a Regionally Accredited Christian University Located in a Church Setting

Download or read book The Development of a Comprehensive Biblical Worldview in Undergraduate Students who Attend a Regionally Accredited Christian University Located in a Church Setting written by Nell Ivy Prince and published by . This book was released on 2020 with total page 180 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The problem this study addresses is that Christian undergraduate Generation Z students at Southeastern University’s Bayside Regional Campus (SEUB) do not have a comprehensive biblical worldview. This was confirmed when a worldview test taken by SEUB students at the beginning of this study revealed that zero students part of this study had a biblical theist worldview, and 15 percent had a moderate Christian worldview. This problem is widespread among universities as a 2018 study from Barna revealed that only 4 percent of Gen Z engaged Christians have a biblical worldview. This study proposes that students who attend a regionally-accredited Christian university that is located in a church should have the optimal opportunity to develop a biblical worldview. From a study of current literature, this study suggests that the Christian university and church can work together to target the minds, hearts, and behavior of students to develop in them a biblical worldview. The minds of SEUB students can be targeted through worldview teaching, hearts by spending time with Christian mentors, and behavior as students spend time serving. These steps resulted in 65 percent of participants moving to a biblical theist or moderate Christian worldview. The most significant finding of this study is that a Christian university in a church is a very compelling and effective strategy for the development of a biblical worldview in Christian undergraduate students. Together they can target the minds, hearts, and behavior of their students.

Book Developing a Biblical Worldview

Download or read book Developing a Biblical Worldview written by C. Fred Smith and published by B&H Publishing Group. This book was released on 2015-01-01 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Developing a Biblical Worldview equips readers to think biblically about the world in which we live. Four questions that everyone asks, at least implicitly, about life and reality are used as a rubric for analyzing worldviews: Who are we? Where are we? What is wrong? What is the answer? Professor C. Fred Smith answers these questions from a biblical perspective, enabling readers to discern how they have been influenced by false worldviews and where they need to grow in their biblical understanding. As readers consider what it means to be human beings made in the image of God, to live in the world God created, to experience sin and its consequences, and to believe in the gospel of Jesus Christ, they will be encouraged to immerse themselves intentionally in the totality of Scripture and see the world God’s way.

Book Maintaining a Biblical Worldview

Download or read book Maintaining a Biblical Worldview written by Scott K. Leafe and published by . This book was released on 2021 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Believers in the Lord Jesus Christ are granted a “new nature” that enables them to develop thinking, a worldview, based on the mind of Christ. Unfortunately, since every person’s worldview is continually being modified, it becomes ever more challenging for believers to keep their thinking consistent with Scripture. Therefore, this action research thesis assumes consistent participation in focused teaching on fundamental doctrines and theologies of the Christian faith is necessary to develop and maintain a cohesive biblical worldview. This research project comprised the teaching of a five-part Bible study course at a local church in eleven consecutive forty-five-minute classes on five fundamental beliefs that make up a person’s worldview: beliefs about God, reality (metaphysics), knowledge (epistemology), ethics, and human beings (anthropology). Quantitative data were collected by the study participants completing pre-course and post-course worldview surveys. In addition, qualitative data was developed from the researcher’s observation field notes following each class session and outside of the formal class setting. The research results indicated an increasing coherence of the Bible study course participants’ comprehensive biblical worldview knowledge and understanding, affirming this action research thesis. Therefore, local churches are encouraged to provide their church members and attendees with similar consistent Bible study opportunities on fundamental doctrines and theologies of the Christian faith. In doing so, a cohesive biblical worldview can develop, allowing them to respond to the culture they live in and better equip them to help the culture respond to the Savior they follow.

Book Christian Worldview and the Academic Disciplines

Download or read book Christian Worldview and the Academic Disciplines written by Deane E. D. Downey and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2009-04-15 with total page 534 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book--an edited compilation of twenty-nine essays--focuses on the difference(s) that a Christian worldview makes for the disciplines or subject areas normally taught in liberal arts colleges and universities. Three initial chapters of introductory material are followed by twenty-six essays, each dealing with the essential elements or issues in the academic discipline involved. These individual essays on each discipline are a unique element of this book. These essays also treat some of the specific differences in perspective or procedure that a biblically informed, Christian perspective brings to each discipline. Christian Worldview and the Academic Disciplines is intended principally as an introductory textbook in Christian worldview courses for Christian college or university students. This volume will also be of interest to Christian students in secular post-secondary institutions, who may be encountering challenges to their faith--both implicit and explicit--from peers or professors who assume that holding a strong Christian faith and pursuing a rigorous college or university education are essentially incompatible. This book should also be helpful for college and university professors who embrace the Christian faith but whose post-secondary academic background--because of its secular orientation--has left them inadequately prepared to intelligently apply the implications of their faith to their particular academic specialty. Such specialists, be they professors or upper-level graduate students, will find the extensive bibliographies of recent scholarship at the end of the individual chapters particularly helpful.

Book A Comparative Analysis of Factors Influencing the Development of a Biblical Worldview in Christian Middle school Students

Download or read book A Comparative Analysis of Factors Influencing the Development of a Biblical Worldview in Christian Middle school Students written by Cherie Elder Brickhill and published by . This book was released on 2010 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of the important goals of Christian education is to train students to see the world through the lens of scripture. However, Christian schools are regularly graduating students who do not think from a distinctively biblical worldview. This study utilized comparative data analysis (Kruskal-Wallis test) to investigate the relationship between four independent variables and the biblical worldview of middle-school students as measured by the PEERS worldview test. The study examined the influence of type of elementary education, frequency of church attendance, personal faith commitment, and parent Christian belief on the PEERS test scores and religion subcategory scores of students enrolled in Christian middle-school. Results suggested significant relationships between frequency of church attendance and personal faith commitment and the PEERS composite scores and religion subcategory scores. Many of the students in this study demonstrated a commitment to faith-based practices, but their worldview was strongly secular humanist. The results suggest a gap between religion-based knowledge and practices and application of scripture to real life issues. The study concludes with implications for Christian educators including an outline of a curriculum strategy for biblical worldview development and suggestions for further research.

Book A Causal Comparative Analysis of Biblical Worldview Among Graduate Students Based on Christian School Attendance

Download or read book A Causal Comparative Analysis of Biblical Worldview Among Graduate Students Based on Christian School Attendance written by David Baniszewski and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page 133 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of the primary objectives of the Christian school (K-12) is the development of a biblical worldview in its students. This study examined the impact that these Christian schools had on their students biblical worldview development by administering a biblical worldview assessment to graduate students at a private, Christian university (Liberty University). Christian, graduate students in the School of Education at Liberty completed a demographic survey and a biblical worldview assessment. The survey collected information on age, gender, type of K-12 schools attended, profession to the Christian faith, and denominational background. The results of the survey and assessment were analyzed to determine if there was a significant difference in the biblical worldviews of Christian students who had a substantial Christian school background when compared to Christian students who had a minimal Christian school background and to those who had no Christian school experience. This causal comparative (ex post facto) study employed one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and a post-hoc Tukey test to determine if there were any significant differences between the means of the pre-determined groups and if the null hypotheses should be accepted or rejected. An informational survey was created to capture selected demographic data and the Three Dimensional Worldview Survey Form C (3DWS-Form C) was used to assess biblical worldview. Participation by the graduate students was both voluntary and anonymous. Results of the study showed that there was no statistically significant difference in participants biblical worldview scores based on their attendance in Christian school. Portions of the study did indicate that there might be a disposition to a stronger propositional biblical worldview for individuals with a significant Christian school background. Further research should explore this disposition with recently graduated participants.

Most Christians live with little thought of the reasons for their conduct and for their beliefs. Opening this to examination can be a challenging and very rewarding experience. It can also be the source of genuine peace and assurance. This book represents the views of the author, his graduate school class, and a highly educated Sunday class (one with a doctorate, five with masters degrees) as they wrestled with defining a biblical base for their life assumptions. The discussion can also be a lot of fun, as my students and I discovered.
