Book CO2 Lasers Effects and Applications

Download or read book CO2 Lasers Effects and Applications written by W Duley and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 444 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: CO2 Lasers: Effects and Applications examines and summarizes the important applications of the device in different areas of study like physics, chemistry, and engineering. In some parts of the book, the reader is assumed to be knowledgeable in university level mathematics or some specialized area in physics or chemistry. The book consists of 10 chapters where the first two establish the general concepts on lasers and CO2 lasers, respectively. Chapter 3 takes the reader further and presents a comprehensive review of optical components for use such as detectors, windows, and mirrors. Because the CO2 laser is mostly used as a heat source, the theory of laser-surface heating is relevant in the discussion. This theory is presented in Chapter 4. Chapters 5 and 6 meanwhile present a summary of observations on cutting, welding, and some related topics. The following chapters discuss the different applications of CO2 lasers in different areas and processes. Some of these applications include in the generation of thermal effect, laser deposition of thin films, spectroscopy, laser photochemistry, and meteorology and communication systems. The text is a good source of reference to both students and scientists in the areas of physics, chemistry, and engineering.

Book A Multiple Pulse CO2 TEA Laser for Use in Thermal Blooming Studies

Download or read book A Multiple Pulse CO2 TEA Laser for Use in Thermal Blooming Studies written by T. D. J. Cameron and published by . This book was released on 1980 with total page 16 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The design, performance and operating characteristics of a multiple pulse CO2 TEA laser constructed at AWRE for use in thermal blooming studies is described. Using unstable resonator optics, at the maximum pulse repetition frequency of approx. 10.4 Hz, this laser yielded a good quality output beam of mean power 28 + or - 2 W. (Author).

Book Propagation of high power pulses of 10 6 micrometers radiation from a CO2 tea laser of novel design through clouds produced by adiabatic expansion in the laboratory

Download or read book Propagation of high power pulses of 10 6 micrometers radiation from a CO2 tea laser of novel design through clouds produced by adiabatic expansion in the laboratory written by P. F. Browne and published by . This book was released on 1976 with total page 99 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report describes (1) theory, design and performance of a CO2 TEA laser with VUV preionization delivering typically 25J pulses of duration 0.1 microsecond and beam cross section 20 per sq cm; (2) the production of clouds in the laboratory by adiabatic expansion of compressed gas in a 300 1 glass chamber and the measurement of the cloud parameters (liquid water content, drop radius); (3) measurements of attenuation by such clouds of TEA laser pulses of the above type and also measurement of partial cloud clearing by a CW 10.6 micrometer beam (by recording the change in attenuation of a collinear He-Ne beam); and (4) the theory required to understand the interaction between 10.6 micrometers radiation and clouds of droplets. Book Corona Preionization Technique for Carbon Dioxide TEA Lasers

Download or read book Corona Preionization Technique for Carbon Dioxide TEA Lasers written by Walter R. Kaminski and published by . This book was released on 1982 with total page 113 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An experimental program is reported which investigates the basic physics underlying the surface corona preionization process in CO2 TEA lasers. Measurements were made of UV emission spectra, photoelectron density, current and voltage waveforms and laser output for a matrix of physical parameters known to influence corona preionization. Based upon experimental results, guidelines are given for the design of a corona preionized CO2 TEA laser. (Author).
