Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Experiments have been made at Stanford University to determine the performance characteristics of plane-wall, two-dimensional diffusers which were so proportioned as to insure reasonable approximation of two-dimensional flow.

Book A Unified Method for Predicting the Performance of Subsonic Diffusers of Several Geometries

Download or read book A Unified Method for Predicting the Performance of Subsonic Diffusers of Several Geometries written by Alfred Benjamin Cocanower and published by . This book was released on 1965 with total page 112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A unified performance prediction method was developed for class A diffusers. Class A diffusers have specified flow and geometry restrictions. The prediction method is a system of linear, first order differential equations. These equations embody the momentum equation, continuity equation, and two empirical correlation equations. In addition to the prediction method, two parameters were developed to characterize inlet conditions and separation respectively.

Book Use of Short Flat Vanes for Producing Efficient Wide angle Two dimensional Subsonic Diffusers

Download or read book Use of Short Flat Vanes for Producing Efficient Wide angle Two dimensional Subsonic Diffusers written by Stanford University. Thermosciences Division. Thermosciences Division and published by . This book was released on 1957 with total page 166 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An investigation of the use of flat vanes in two-dimensional subsonic diffusers was made. Using optimum designs of vane installations, high pressure recoveries and steady flows were obtained for diffuser-wall divergence angles up to 42 degrees. Criteria for optimum configurations were developed which indicated that the vanes should be symmetrically arranged in the vicinity of the diffuser throat, that the vane-passage divergence angle should be approximately 7.0 degrees, and that the vanes should have a certain predictable length dependent upon the diffuser geometry.

Book Effects of Transverse Ribs on Pressure Recovery in Two Dimensional Subsonic Diffusers

Download or read book Effects of Transverse Ribs on Pressure Recovery in Two Dimensional Subsonic Diffusers written by Frank D. Stull and published by . This book was released on 1974 with total page 42 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An experimental investigation was conducted to evaluate the performance of two-dimensional ribbed diffusers. Static pressure recovery of a straight wall diffuser and a corresponding ribbed diffuser was obtained over a wide range of diffuser total angles and subsonic Mach numbers for three diffuser length-to-throat width ratios. At selected geometries, total pressure recovery and distortion index were obtained. In addition to an optimum rectangular rib design, obtained from earlier water table flow visualization test, a chamfered rib and a roughened surface insert were also tested. A high response pressure transducer was used to detect pressure fluctuations occurring within one of the inter-rib cavities.

Book Subsonic MHD diffuser Performance with High Blockage

Download or read book Subsonic MHD diffuser Performance with High Blockage written by and published by . This book was released on 1977 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Diffuser performance with high blockages is analyzed by a two-dimensional turbulent-flow model. This model is used to analyze the performance of simple two-dimensional, plane-walled diffusers and also of three-dimensional diffusers up to and beyond the blockage limits for which previous analytical or experimental data are available. The effects of important design parameters on diffuser performance are investigated. The parameters considered are the blockage, divergence angle, Mach number, aspect ratio, and wall-to-free stream temperature ratio. The first two parameters affect the diffuser performance significantly; the other parameters influence performance only slightly. Results obtained from the subject model agree reasonably well with the available experimental data. The diffuser design of the U-25 facility is analyzed and the analysis predicts a pressure recovery of 0.49, which agrees very well with the measured experimental value of approximately 0.48, obtained from a small-scale model.
