Book Collective Motion and Nuclear Dynamics

Download or read book Collective Motion and Nuclear Dynamics written by Apolodor Aristotel Raduta and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1996 with total page 585 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "These proceedings contain selected topics covering various fields of collective motion and nuclear dynamics, ranging from low to high energies, from nuclear structure to reaction mechanisms, from regular stable to chaotic systems, and from fragmentation to fusion. Several ways of investigating the nuclear systems are presented: electron scattering radioactive beams, fragmenting projectiles, beta and double beta decays, and cluster emission. Their behaviour, under some extreme situations such as superdeformation, high spin states, high temperature, and relativisitic energy, is described within various theoretical formalisms."--Publisher's website.

Book Rare Isotope Beams

    Book Details:
  • Author : Alok Chakrabarti
  • Publisher : CRC Press
  • Release : 2021-06-30
  • ISBN : 1498788793
  • Pages : 305 pages

Download or read book Rare Isotope Beams written by Alok Chakrabarti and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2021-06-30 with total page 305 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rare Isotope Beams (RIBs) are ion beams of exotic radioactive nuclei. The study of these nuclei is key to understanding the limits of nuclear existence, nucleo-synthesis in such violent stellar sites as supernovae and merging neutron stars, and the fundamental symmetries of nature. These nuclei also provide a unique probe to study condensed matter and many of them are potentially new radioisotopes for more effective medical diagnostics and therapy. Rare Isotope Beams: Concepts and Techniques gives an up-to-date overview of all these aspects of RIB science in a single volume containing the scientific motivation, production techniques, experimental techniques for studying exotic nuclei, methods used in condensed matter research, and medical applications. The emphasis throughout is on concepts to facilitate understanding of the essence of each topic in this diverse and cross-disciplinary field involving nuclear physics, astrophysics, and particle accelerators. A brief description of major RIB facilities is also presented. Exotic nuclei are difficult to produce in enough numbers and their production involves different nuclear reaction routes and a wide range of advanced technologies, which are presented in a comprehensive manner. Experimental techniques used to study exotic nuclei are provided with examples highlighting the intricate nature of such experiments. Another unique feature is the open-ended nature of the discussions, bringing out the future challenges and possibilities in this evolving field. The book offers an excellent overview of concepts and techniques involved in RIB science for new researchers entering the field as well as professionals.

Book Atomic Masses and Fundamental Constants 6

Download or read book Atomic Masses and Fundamental Constants 6 written by Jerry A. Nolen and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 561 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Sixth International Conference on Atomic Masses was held in East Lansing, Michigan, Sept. 18-21, 1979. The conference was initiated, organized, and sponsored by the Commission on Atomic Masses and Fundamental Constants of the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics. The members of the conference committee are listed below: W. Benenson, Chairman Michigan State University R. C. Barber University of-Manitoba E. R. Cohen Rockwell International Institute of Chemical Physics, V. I. Goldanskii Moscow J. C. Hardy Chalk River, Canada W. H. Johnson University of Minnesota E. Kashy Michigan State University Orsay, France R. Klapisch J. A. Nolen, Jr. Michigan State University R. G. H. Robertson Michigan State University E. Roeckl G. S. I. , Darmstadt B. N. Taylor National Bureau of Standards O. Schult IKF, Julich A. H. Wapstra IFO, Amsterdam N. Zeldes Racah Institute, Jerusalem The conference was a little different from the preceding one (in Paris, 1975) in that the fundamental constant aspects were limited to those directly related to atomic masses. The gap is to be filled by the second International Conference on Precision Measurement and Fundamental Constants which is now scheduled for June 1981 in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Only one of the seven sessions in this conference was devoted to fundamental constant determina tions. The conference was very strongly supported by the Department of Energy, the National Science Foundation, and the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics.
