Book THE DECAY OF 56Co AND 56Mn

Download or read book THE DECAY OF 56Co AND 56Mn written by A. H. Sher and published by . This book was released on 1968 with total page 12 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Gamma radiations following the radioactive decay of 56Co and 56Mn have been measured with Ge(Li) detectors. From 56Co, previously unobserved gamma rays of energies 2213.0 and 3598.7 keV have been identified while those of energies 1810.9, 1963.4 and 2112.8 keV are confirmed. Gamma-gamma coincidence measurements have been carried out with Ge(Li) and NaI(Tl) detectors. Gamma spectra in coincidence with the 846.6, 1037.6 and 1238.0 keV gamma rays have been measured, and a number of gamma-gamma cascades identified. From 56Mn, a previously unreported gamma ray of energy 3119.3 keV has been observed. A revised decay scheme is presented together with a discussion of the information that the new data provide on level energies, spins and parities. (Author).

  • Author : Christian Iliadis
  • Publisher : John Wiley & Sons
  • Release : 2008-07-11
  • ISBN : 3527618767
  • Pages : 680 pages

Download or read book Nuclear Physics of Stars written by Christian Iliadis and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2008-07-11 with total page 680 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Thermonuclear reactions in stars is a major topic in the field of nuclear astrophysics, and deals with the topics of how precisely stars generate their energy through nuclear reactions, and how these nuclear reactions create the elements the stars, planets and - ultimately - we humans consist of. The present book treats these topics in detail. It also presents the nuclear reaction and structure theory, thermonuclear reaction rate formalism and stellar nucleosynthesis. The topics are discussed in a coherent way, enabling the reader to grasp their interconnections intuitively. The book serves both as a textbook, with many examples and end-of-chapter exercises, but also as a reference book for use by researchers working in the field of nuclear astrophysics.

Book Stellar Physics

    Book Details:
  • Author : G.S. Bisnovatyi-Kogan
  • Publisher : Springer Science & Business Media
  • Release : 2013-06-29
  • ISBN : 3662226391
  • Pages : 393 pages

Download or read book Stellar Physics written by G.S. Bisnovatyi-Kogan and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 393 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Stellar Physics" is a rather unique book in the growing literature on star formation and evolution. Not only does the author, a leading expert in the field, give a very thorough description of the current knowledge about stellar physics, but he handles with equal care the many problems that this field of research still faces. A bibliography with well over 650 entries makes this book an unparalleled source of references. "Stellar Evolution and Stability" is the second volume and can be read, as can the first volume, as a largely independent work. It traces in great detail the evolution of the protostar towards the main sequence and beyond this to the last stage of stellar evolution, with the corresponding vast range from white dwarfs to the mighty supernovae explosions and blackhole formation. The book concludes with special chapters on the dynamical, thermal and pulsing stability of stars.

Book Handbook of Accelerator Physics and Engineering

Download or read book Handbook of Accelerator Physics and Engineering written by Alexander Wu Chao and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2013 with total page 849 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Edited by internationally recognized authorities in the field, this expanded and updated new edition of the bestselling Handbook, containing more than 100 new articles, is aimed at the design and operation of modern particle accelerators. It is intended as a vade mecum for professional engineers and physicists engaged in these subjects. With a collection of more than 2000 equations, 300 illustrations and 500 graphs and tables, here one will find, in addition to the common formulae of previous compilations, hard-to-find, specialized formulae, recipes and material data pooled from the lifetime experience of many of the world''s most able practitioners of the art and science of accelerators. The eight chapters include both theoretical and practical matters as well as an extensive glossary of accelerator types. Chapters on beam dynamics and electromagnetic and nuclear interactions deal with linear and nonlinear single particle and collective effects including spin motion, beam-environment, beam-beam, beam-electron, beam-ion and intrabeam interactions. The impedance concept and related calculations are dealt with at length as are the instabilities associated with the various interactions mentioned. A chapter on operational considerations includes discussions on the assessment and correction of orbit and optics errors, real-time feedbacks, generation of short photon pulses, bunch compression, tuning of normal and superconducting linacs, energy recovery linacs, free electron lasers, cooling, space-charge compensation, brightness of light sources, collider luminosity optimization and collision schemes. Chapters on mechanical and electrical considerations present material data and important aspects of component design including heat transfer and refrigeration. Hardware systems for particle sources, feedback systems, confinement and acceleration (both normal conducting and superconducting) receive detailed treatment in a subsystems chapter, beam measurement techniques and apparatus being treated therein as well. The closing chapter gives data and methods for radiation protection computations as well as much data on radiation damage to various materials and devices.A detailed name and subject index is provided together with reliable references to the literature where the most detailed information available on all subjects treated can be found.
