Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Kevin O'Hara's journey of self-discovery begins as a mad lark: who in their right mind would try to circle the entire coastline of Ireland on foot—and with a donkey and cart no less? But Kevin had promised his homesick Irish mother that he would explore the whole of the Old Country and bring back the sights and the stories to their home in Massachusetts. Determined to reach his grandmother's village by Christmas Eve, Kevin and his stubborn but endearing donkey, Missie, set off on 1800-mile trek along the entire jagged coast of a divided Ireland. Their rollicking adventure takes them over mountains and dales, through smoky cities and sleepy villages, and into the farmhouses and hearts of Ireland's greatest resource—its people. Along the way, Kevin would meet incredible characters, experience Ireland in all of its glory, and explore not only his Irish past, but find his future self. “One of the finest books about contemporary Ireland ever written...In a style evocative of Steinbeck's Travels with Charley, O'Hara writes memorably of his most unusual way of touring his ancestral home of Ireland.” —Library Journal At the Publisher's request, this title is being sold without Digital Rights Management Software (DRM) applied.

Download or read book The Donkey s Gone written by Omid Arabian and published by Seven Stories Press. This book was released on 2022-01-11 with total page 36 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Rumi story turned into a fun, illustrated allegory for kids. The 13th century Sufi mystic, Islamic scholar, Persian poet and storyteller Rumi remains a towering cultural force, and possibly the most widely read poet in the world--especially on the subject of love. Here a simple tale about a donkey keeper staying at an inn becomes a parable for life lessons of joy and sorrow that will be universally understood by children in this adaptation by the Rumi scholar Omid Arabian, illustrated with great humor and authenticity by the Iranian-born artist Shilla Shakoori. The Donkey's Gone is based on a story from The Masnavi, which is an epic compilation of Rumi's wisdom in the form of poems and short stories. Adapted for children, it retains Rumi's wit and insight while also relating a cautionary tale about what we stand to lose when we imitate others and conform.

Download or read book A Donkey s Journey written by Gregory Cherven and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2019-03-14 with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Donkey's Journey chronicles the author's life and path to understanding his purpose according to God's will. Although the author had accomplished many things, such as being a Marine Corps veteran from operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm and a deputy sheriff and special victims detective, he still felt worthless and was frustrated with the meaning of life. The author takes us on a journey with his bouts with worthlessness and struggles as he relates his life to that of a donkey. The author allows us to feel his pain when acknowledging his failures as a husband which led to the ultimate failure of his marriage. His undiagnosed mental health issues contributed to severe suicidal thoughts. This is of course until the day he turned his entire life over to God, and he asked God to give him a greater purpose for his life. We go on the journey with him as he faces spiritual battles along the way. His purpose in life begins to be identified as his spirit life grows stronger. The purpose of the book is to reach those that are battling some form of struggle in their life, to leave a feeling of worthlessness and find a life of purpose. The key to breaking the chains of bondage from all sorts of issues is to completely turn our lives over to Jesus Christ. He is not only the key to eternal life, he is the key to abundant life.
