Book Annual Plant Reviews The Plant Cytoskeleton in Cell Differentiation and Development

Download or read book Annual Plant Reviews The Plant Cytoskeleton in Cell Differentiation and Development written by Patrick J. Hussey and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2009-02-12 with total page 344 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Annual Plant Reviews, Volume 10 The cytoskeleton is a dynamic filamentous structure composed of at least actin and microtubule networks. Actin and microtubules are no different structurally from their animal and fungal counterparts. However, the strategies of cell differentiation and development in plants require this network to respond appropriately to plant-specific developmental cues and to environmental factors. This book views the cytoskeleton from different perspectives but, on the whole, as a network composed of structural and regulatory proteins controlled by internal and external stimuli that result in different aspects of cell differentiation. This is a volume for researchers and professionals in plant biochemistry, cell biology and genetics.

Book The Molecular Biology of Cell Determination and Cell Differentiation

Download or read book The Molecular Biology of Cell Determination and Cell Differentiation written by Leon W. Browder and published by Springer. This book was released on 1988-05-31 with total page 472 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This series was established to create comprehensive treatises on specific topics in developmental biology. Such volumes serve a useful role in developmental biology, which is a very diverse field that receives contributions from a wide variety of disciplines. This series is a meeting ground for the various practi tioners of this science, facilitating an integration of heterogeneous information on specific topics. Each volume is comprised of chapters selected to provide the conceptual basis for a comprehensive understanding of its topic as well as an analysis of the key experiments upon which that understanding is based. The specialist in any aspect of developmental biology should understand the experimental back ground of the specialty and be able to place that body of information in context, in order to ascertain where additional research would be fruitful. The creative process then generates new experiments. This series is intended to be a vital link in that ongoing process of learning and discovery.

Book New Cell Differentiation Research Topics

Download or read book New Cell Differentiation Research Topics written by Hitoshi Saitama and published by Nova Publishers. This book was released on 2007 with total page 324 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This new book presents research developments from around the globe in the field of cellular differentiation which is a concept from developmental biology describing the process by which cells acquire a 'type'. The morphology of a cell may change dramatically during differentiation, but the genetic material remains the same, with few exceptions. A cell that is able to differentiate into many cell types is known as pluripotent. These cells are called stem cells in animals and meristematic cells in higher plants. A cell that is able to differentiate into all cell types is known as totipotent. In mammals, only the zygote and early embryonic cells are totipotent, while in plants, many differentiated cells can become totipotent with simple laboratory techniques.

Book Review of Cytoskeleton Research in Cell Differentiation and Development

This book was released on 1987 with total page 13 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Papers given at this conference, held in April 1987 in Granada, Spain, are reviewed. The papers focused on the analysis of the assembly dynamics of microtubules, intermediate filaments, and action filaments to provide the structural basis of the role played by the cytoskeleton in differentiating a variety of cell systems, early embryogenesis, and to the biological and genetic of cytoplasmic organization. Keywords: Neurofilaments; Plectin; Vimentin; Dynein.

Book Developmental Aspects of the Cell Cycle

Download or read book Developmental Aspects of the Cell Cycle written by Ivan Cameron and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 401 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Developmental Aspects of the Cell Cycle discusses the molecular, organelle, cellular, and organismal levels of cell cycle, cell proliferation, and cell differentiation. It addresses the possible antagonism between the ability of cells to proliferate and to differentiate. After brief historical, theoretical, and methodological background information for each cell system, this book concentrates on the mechanisms involved in the regulation of cell proliferation and differentiation. The book presents systems in which mass cultures of cells can be induced to undergo a synchronous transition from one cell state to another, enabling the amplification of cellular and biochemical events to be analyzed with the available morphological and biochemical techniques. Some chapters explain the possibility of cell state production by a microenvironment that occurs at the organismal level, in which a series of mitotic and growth steps causes cells proliferation. The concluding chapters discuss cell proliferation and differentiation in specific cell system, such as embryonic chick and male germ cell. This book will appeal to investigators in many disciplines, teachers, and life sciences students, particularly, to molecular, cellular, and developmental biologists.

Book Mechanical Engineering of the Cytoskeleton in Developmental Biology

Download or read book Mechanical Engineering of the Cytoskeleton in Developmental Biology written by Richard Gordon and published by . This book was released on 1994 with total page 431 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Developing organisms are systems in which the geometry, dynamics, and boundary conditions are all changing in the course of morphogenesis. The morphogenesis of cells and organisms appear to be mediated in part by the mechanically active components of the cytoskeleton. Mechanical forces have long been considered secondary to the effects of molecular mechanisms in cell growth, differentiation, and development. This volume explores the role of mechanical forces in cell growth and development and demonstrates its importance. This volume will prove invaluable to all biologists interested in the fundamentals of mechanical forces in development, from the advanced to the graduate researcher.

  • ISBN : 9535131699
  • Pages : 344 pages

Download or read book Cytoskeleton written by Jose C. Jimenez-Lopez and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2017-05-17 with total page 344 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The cytoskeleton is a highly dynamic intracellular platform constituted by a three-dimensional network of proteins responsible for key cellular roles as structure and shape, cell growth and development, and offering to the cell with "motility" that being the ability of the entire cell to move and for material to be moved within the cell in a regulated fashion (vesicle trafficking). The present edition of Cytoskeleton provides new insights into the structure-functional features, dynamics, and cytoskeleton's relationship to diseases. The authors' contribution in this book will be of substantial importance to a wide audience such as clinicians, researches, educators, and students interested in getting updated knowledge about molecular basis of cytoskeleton, such as regulation of cell vital processes by actin-binding proteins as cell morphogenesis, motility, their implications in cell signaling, as well as strategies for clinical trial and alternative therapies based in multitargeting molecules to tackle diseases, that is, cancer.
