Book excerpt: The Dream Quest is set in a post-apocalyptic world that had been ravaged by weapons of mass destruction, where a new generation of humanity managed to survive and form a new civilization. Many perils existed in the aftermath of the old war. Mutant tribes of cannibals and hordes of the living dead were the most common, but there were other creatures and unknown dangers. Due to the radiation and chemical afterburn a form of fusion magic came to the land, as well as concerned and vengeful visitors from the unknown, creatures that some would call gods. Kastos puts together a rag-tag crew of anyone willing to accompany him on this fantastic voyage across unknown waters, fraught with wonders and horrors, to the icy wastelands in the far south. Where Kastos hopes to discover if the myth of immortal life was real. On board the Kella, an old battered Navy Frigate, the crew assembled and embarked upon this quest. However, fate intervenes and throws Kastos a wild card when a beautiful woman is rescued at sea after a devastating storm. She warns him about the old gods who guard the gates. Terrible, malevolent beings who will bar his way… unless he chooses her to help him. Kastos has to make a choice to either ignore or trust her, a woman he has never met, yet who seems oddly compelling, and familiar.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Therapeutically Applied Role-Playing Games provides a comprehensive approach to implementing therapeutically applied role-playing game (TA-RPG) groups for mental health practitioners. When facilitated by a trained professional, TA-RPGs are a powerful tool for insight, growth, and change for individuals and communities. The Game to Grow Method of Therapeutically Applied Role-Playing Games is a transdiagnostic, transtheoretical, group intervention developed over a decade of practice using Dungeons & Dragons and other popular tabletop role-playing game systems, as well as leveraging therapeutic factors from acceptance and commitment therapy, marriage and family therapy, drama therapy, and interpersonal process groups. TA-RPGs are conceptualized as a gaming system layered on top of established intervention techniques. They can accommodate a multitude of game systems and align with theoretical mechanisms for change found across therapeutic orientations. This work serves as a comprehensive training manual for TA-RPGs, providing a valuable resource for mental health professionals interested in incorporating TA-RPGs into their practice.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “Women are not supposed to write; yet I write.” –Marceline Desbordes-Valmore In 1817, at the late age of thirty-three,Marceline Desbordes, the actress and Romantic poet–the only woman counted by Paul Verlaine among his poètes maudits, or “accursed poets,” a group that included Victor Hugo, Charles Baudelaire, and Alfred de Vigny–marries Prosper Valmore, a fellow actor who brings love and stability to her tumultuous life. Such stability is short-lived, however:When she meets Henri de Latouche, an influential man of letters, they soon begin a passionate affair. Although their tryst does not last more than a year, their relationship survives through letters and memory. It sparks inspiration in Marceline’s work and leads her to create some of the most beautiful poetry in French literature. A talented poet, a romantic woman, a passionate lover, a nurturing mother, and a child at heart, Marceline Desbordes-Valmore is rescued from obscurity through Plantagenet’s dazzling writing in this fictionalized biography. The book will include a selection of Desbordes-Valmore’s poems in the original French and in an English translation by the Pulitzer Prize—winning poet Louis Simpson.

Download or read book God Truth and Reality written by Arvind Sharma and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2011-08-25 with total page 283 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: All arts and sciences, in their own way, ultimately try to come to grips with reality. What sets philosophy, theology, and religion apart is that they grapple with ultimate reality. Over the decades spanned by John Hick's life, in the course of this grappling (reminiscent of Jacob's nocturnal encounter with the angel) philosophy became analytic, theology dialogical, and religion comparative along one line of development. In these essays, written in honour of Professor Hick, leading world scholars in these fields share their most recent insights. They are, so to speak, postcards from the cutting edge.
